The article focuses on a microbiologically confirmed case of Brucella melitensis and Plasmodium falciparum malaria coinfection in a febrile traveler returning from Chad. The importance of blood cultures and malaria smears in febrile travelers returning from the tropics was highlighted. The victim complained of mild watery diarrhea and fatigue without nausea or vomiting. The findings of physical examinations and blood smears were discussed. Reason for the need that blood cultures must be routinely prescribed in cases of atypical clinical presentation was discussed.
