Alzheimer's disease (AD) is associated with abnormal resting-state network (RSN) architecture of the default mode network (DMN), the dorsal attention network (DAN), the executive control network (CON), the salience network (SAL), and the sensory-motor network (SMN). However, little is known about the disrupted intra- and inter-network architecture in mild cognitive impairment (MCI). Here, we employed a priori defined regions of interest to investigate the intra- and inter-network functional connectivity profiles of these RSNs in longitudinal participants, including normal controls (n = 23), participants with early MCI (n = 26), and participants with late MCI (n = 19). We found longitudinal alterations of functional connectivity within the DMN, where they were correlated with variation in cognitive ability. The SAL as well as the interaction between the DMN and the SAL were disrupted in MCI. Furthermore, our results demonstrate that longitudinal alterations of functional connectivity are more profound in earlier stages as opposed to later stages of the disease. The increased severity of cognitive impairment is associated with increasingly altered RSN connectivity patterns, suggesting that disruptions in functional connectivity may contribute to cognitive dysfunction and may represent a potential biomarker of impaired cognitive ability in MCI. Abstract: Canada is a sparsely populated country with its majority of population concentrated in cities, and its urbanization rate had risen to 80.2% by 2006. A similar environmental situation (air and water pollution, biodiversity degradation, high carbon emissions, et al.) in Canada has been going on in China and many of the developing countries during urbanization process. Based on ideas from urban planning and ecological development, Canada has taken a series of effective eco-measures, which contain urban heat island effect mitigation program, green infrastructure construction, and livable region strategic planning, to tackle with the environmental problems. The accumulated experience provides positive reference for China to find ways confronting climate change and obstacles of low carbon eco-city development, including: (1) Low carbon eco-city development mode, (2) Urban green infrastructure, (3) Urban ecological planning, and (4) Public participation. The planning of municipal wastewater treatment networks has been recognized as a valuable means for achieving the optimal use of resources and improving the cost-efficient operation of plants. In this study, a multi-agent hybrid particle swarm optimization (MAHPSO) approach was developed as a new systematic planning tool by the integration of hybrid particle swarm optimization and multi-agent system. Its effectiveness and feasibility were demonstrated by a simplified real-world case in the metropolitan area of St. John's, Canada. Genetic algorithm and hybrid particle swarm optimization were also employed for comparison and the results indicated the better performance with the proposed approach in terms of efficiency in finding the solutions, computational requirements, and overall costs of the network. In patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention, contrast-induced nephropathy (CIN) is a serious complication associated with poor outcomes. We assessed the predictive value of the Canada Acute Coronary Syndrome (C-ACS) score for CIN in these patients. A total of 394 consecutive patients with STEMI were enrolled and divided into 3 groups according to their C-ACS scores-group 1, score 0; group 2, score 1; and group 3, score ≥2. The clinical outcomes were CIN and major adverse clinical events (MACEs) during hospital and follow-up; 8.4% of patients developed CIN. Patients with high C-ACS scores were more likely to develop CIN, in-hospital death, and MACEs ( P < .001). The C-ACS score was an independent predictor of CIN (odds ratio = 2.87; 95% confidence interval = 1.78-4.63; P < .001) and risk factor for long-term MACEs. The C-ACS score had good predictive values for CIN, in-hospital morality, MACEs, and long-term mortality. Patients with high C-ACS risk scores exhibited a worse survival rate than those with low scores (death, P = .02; MACEs, P = .006). In conclusion, in patients with STEMI, the C-ACS could predict CIN and clinical outcomes.
