Roger Kish, a senior at Lapeer West High, set national records for career victories (252) and consecutive victories (223) and won his fourth state wrestling championship. Rosanna Delurgio, a sophomore at UC San Diego, won the 100-and 200-yard breaststroke at the NCAA Division II swimming championships, in 1:02.37 and 2:15.84, respectively. Austin Johnson, a sophomore guard for the Palo Duro High basketball team, averaged 23.5 points per game and was named All-District 3-4A player of the year. Katie Agey, a first-grader at St. Anthony's, won the 44-pound elementary division at the U.S. girls' wrestling championships. Nick Metakes, a senior at Spruce Creek High, became the first high school weightlifter in Florida to clear 400 pounds in the clean and jerk, winning the 238-pound division at the Class 2A championships. Jeni Boesel, a senior guard for the Brewster High basketball team, finished her high school career with 2,728 points, the third-highest total in state history. Ryan Lobban, a senior lefthander at St. Joseph Regional High, set a state record for a seven-inning game, striking out 21 in a no-hitter.
