A series of biological water reclamation experiments has been in progress for over a year at The North American Aviation Inc. Industrial Photosynthesis Facility at Lancaster, California. This carbon conversion process has been capable of producing (from domestic waste water) large quantities of algal biomass of a high protein content (up to 50%). The studies have emphasized the examination of the biodynamics of the system and, as a result, several major components of control have been revealed. Eventual integration of this system with others will be dependent on the ultimate products desired (water quality, carbon conversion, and biomass) and also upon the biological system best adapted to yielding these products.
