The article presents the case study conducted in Argentina and United States to determine the bladder cancer risk associated with arsenic contamination of drinking water. Studies reported that arsenic posed a risk for cancer of the skin, bladder and lung. Subjects from Argentina were patients with new-incident cases of transitional bladder while those from the United States were obtained from Nevada Central Cancer Registry, the Cancer Registry of Central California and local physicians. Controls were also chosen for the study. First morning urine samples from all subjects were collected and analyzed for arsenic concentration. The results revealed that those who excrete a higher proportion of methylated arsenic are more prone to arsenic-related cancer.
