The article focuses on a study, which aimed to determine the associations among physical activity, sedentary behavior, and the metabolic syndrome (MetS) in Latino and African American youth. Both subjective and objective measures of activity levels, were used in the study. It was shown by accelerometry data that more time engaged in moderate-to-vigorous physical activity was related to lower odds of the MetS. As per the conclusions, the promotion of physical activity and the reduction of sedentary behavior should be targeted by future interventions, which aim to improve metabolic health in youth.
