To add to the sexuality research specifically conducted with women with disabilities by giving voice to participants from diverse backgrounds that represent a segment of the population of women with disability and chronic illness, and exploring the sexual concerns of these women. Two focus groups (N = 17) were conducted with women with disabilities and chronic illness, with discussion regarding their sexual concerns and experiences. Participants, who ranged in age from 28 to 57 years, represented heterosexual women, women who identified as lesbian, women who identified as bisexual, and women who identified as male to female transgender. Discussion was audiotaped, transcribed, and subjected to content analysis. The main themes that emerged from this focus group fell into five main areas: (a) disability status, (b) intimate relationships, (c) educational information, (d) sexual concerns, and (e) allied health professionals. Women with disabilities have sexual concerns that are far more complex when researchers consider the intersection of identities: disability, sexual orientation and gender identity.
