The article focuses on the plan of Stirling Energy Systems to build two separate solar farms which would generate 500 megawatts of electricity in the Mojave Desert near Victorville, California and a 300-megawatt power plant in the Imperial Valley near Calexico, California. The proposed project will be the largest solar project in the world. The author assesses the electric power production of the U.S. from solar energy. The company uses curved dishes instead of panels of photovoltaic cells. The Stirling engine, an external heat engine, is completely sealed with hydrogen.
