This paper proposes the teaching reform method of introducing optical methods into the experiments of impact dynamics. Firstly, taking the drop hammer impact experiment as an example, the teaching research on the low-speed impact response of three-point bending beam specimens is carried out by using the array high-speed camera system and three optical methods (digital image correlation method, caustic method and digital gradient sensing method). Then, taking the split Hopkinson pressure bar experiment as an example, the full field displacements of Brazil half disk specimen with a notch are measured by digital image correlation method, and the students are guided to analyze the experimental data. This experimental method overcomes the single point measurements of traditional strain gauge method and improves the intuition of impact response measurements, and is helpful to the teaching of the experiments of impact dynamics.
