This study aimed to translate the Pictorial Scale of Physical Self-Concept for Brazilian Children (PSPPS-BR) into the Brazilian-Portuguese language, conduct a transcultural adaptation of it, and investigate its validity. Method: The authors adopted the reverse translation procedures to obtain the PSPPS-BR's Brazilian-Portuguese version. Three motor behavior experts assessed the scale items' clarity and pertinence. Ten professionals participated in the face validity study. Children (N = 300; 150 girls and 150 boys; 8-10 years old; M[subscript age] = 9.0, SD = 0.81) were randomly selected from six schools in Brazil and assessed using the PSPPS-BR, the Pictorial Scale of Perceived Movement Skill Competence, and the Self-Perception Profile for Children. The children (N = 100) were reassessed for test-retest reliability. Results: High clarity and pertinence agreement among experts (content validity coefficient from 98.4% to 100%; Gwet's agreement coefficient from 0.85 to 1.00, p < 0.001) and among professionals (content validity coefficient clarity: 83-100%, relevance: 90-100%) were obtained. The confirmatory factorial analysis showed adequate model fits (root mean square error of approximation = 0.067; comparative fit index = 0.968; Tukey-Lewis index = 0.949). Polychoric correlations showed an adequate internal consistency for total scale ([alpha] = 0.78) and items (alpha from 0.73 to 0.78). The intraclass coefficient correlation shown strong test-retest reliability (intraclass correlation coefficient > 0.95). Conclusion: The PSPPS-BR showed adequate validity and reliability for Brazilian children.

On behalf of the International Test Commission and the European Federation of Psychologists' Associations a world-wide survey on the opinions of professional psychologists on testing practices was carried out. The main objective of this study was to collect data for a better understanding of the state of psychological testing worldwide. These data could guide the actions and measures taken by ITC, EFPA, and other stakeholders. A questionnaire was administered to 20,467 professional psychologists from 29 countries. Five scales were constructed relating to: concern over incorrect test use, regulations on tests and testing, internet and computerized testing, appreciation of tests, and knowledge and training relating to test use. Equivalence across countries was evaluated using the alignment method, four scales demonstrated acceptable levels of invariance. Multilevel analysis was used to determine how scores were related to age, gender, and specialization, as well as how scores varied between countries. Although the results show a high appreciation of tests in general, the appreciation of internet and computerized testing is much lower. These scales show low variability over countries, whereas differences between countries on the other reported scales are much greater. This implies the need for some overarching improvements as well as country-specific actions.

This study describes the development of a learning process of genetic counseling and basic genetics using an e-learning model and its application to a group of psychologists in the state of Parana in southern Brazil. The aim was to analyze the impact on the increase of knowledge in the presented subjects and the possibility of applying this project on a larger scale. The results of two observations were compared. The observations consisted of scores on the same exams, applied before and after taking the course. Results indicated that the remote education process is indeed a viable alternative for genetic counseling education and is validated for application in large scale together with Centers for Family Health Care Assistance of the Brazilian Ministry of Health Care.

This study examined each of the 192 Member States of the United Nations to address three important questions: (1) how many countries have professionals who provide school psychology services; (2) which countries do and do not have school psychologists; (3) what evidence of school psychology is available in each country. Of the 192 Member States of the United Nations there was evidence of school psychology in 83. Furthermore, this study revealed evidence of: regulations that require school psychologists to be licensed, registered or credentialed in 29 countries; professional associations specifically for school psychologists in 39 countries; university preparation programs for school psychologists in 56 countries and doctoral preparation programs in school psychology in 19 countries. The rapid advancement of technology has changed how mental health treatment is provided and has quickly become an important approach for treating clients. Despite extensive literature demonstrating the benefits of telemental health, Brazil has been a country that has been slow to adopt this modality, with very little research or work having been done in that arena prior to COVID-19. In fact, Brazil was one of the few countries that had legislation controlling the use of telemental health for psychological treatment. With the global pandemic, Brazilian psychologists were forced to adopt this modality, with little if any training, and little if anything is known about their experiences in effectively utilizing this modality to meet the needs of their clients. The purpose of this qualitative study was to explore more in-depth psychologists' experience of providing telemental health services during the COVID-19 pandemic. Five main themes were identified, including 1) Developing Therapeutic Relationships, 2) Setting, 3) Provider Online Bias, 4) Provider's Positive Experiences and 5) Skills Providers Need to Develop, Finally, clinical implications and future research is discussed. Desynchronization of circadian rhythms and sleep-wake patterns impacts biochemical, physiological, and behavioral functions, including mental processes. The complex relationship between circadian rhythms and mental health makes it challenging to determine causality between circadian desynchronization and mental disorders. Regarding the fact that psychologists act as the front line for initial mental health care, we aimed to assess the knowledge and use of sleep science and basic chronobiology by professional psychologists in Brazil. Data were collected via an online questionnaire completed by 1384 professional psychologists between October 2018 and May 2019. Our findings revealed that ±80% of psychologists reported that at least half of their patients presented some sleep-related complaints; however, only ±27% routinely inquired about sleep quality even in the absence of patient complaints. Additionally, only ±66% initiated treatments to understand these complaints, potentially influenced by the lack of prior academic exposure to biological rhythms as reported by ±76% of Brazilian psychologists interviewed. Importantly, ±15% did not believe in an association between mental health and biological rhythms, and even a significant ±67% were unfamiliar with the term chronobiology and ±63% were not able to describe any other biological rhythm except for the sleep-wake cycle. These results demonstrate that fundamental concepts in chronobiology and sleep science are unknown to a substantial proportion of Brazilian psychologists. In conclusion, we propose that this subject could be more effectively integrated into psychologists' academic training, potentially promoting benefits through the incorporation of a chronobiological approach in mental health practice. BACKGROUND: The integration of a biopsychosocial screening (BPS) program has been proposed by international agencies to better identify and effectively manage unmet needs among patients with cancer. We sought to evaluate the effect of a BPS program on hospital admissions and length of stay (LOS) among a diverse sample of patients with cancer and receiving treatment in Brazil. METHODS: A retrospective analysis was performed from March 2020 to December 2021. Eligible patients were diagnosed with cancer and were receiving treatment at a private practice in Brazil. Clinical characteristics, participation in the BPS program, hospital admissions, reason, and LOS in hospital were evaluated. We compared the number of hospital admissions and LOS between groups (participation v no participation). T test and Chi-square test were used to test for differences between groups. RESULTS: A total of 1,014 patients were included in the analysis. Baseline clinical characteristics were well balanced between groups (n = 459 patients who participated and n = 555 patients who did not). The median age of patients was 63 years. Breast and hematological cancers were the most common types of cancer; 60% were diagnosed at an advanced disease stage. A smaller proportion of patients who participated in the BPS program were hospitalized compared with patients who did not participate (8% v 32%, P = .001). Patients who participated in the program also spent less days in the hospital compared with patients who did not participate in the program (M = 4.2 days v 9.8 days, P = .001). CONCLUSION: Engagement in a BPS program was associated with reduced hospital admissions and LOS. This study provides novel insight into the potential broader implications of BPS programs for clinical care systems. Future studies are needed to explore the mechanisms behind such associations. This research aimed to understand the structuring of psychological assessments in custody actions and, on the other hand, to identify the existence of homogeneity or heterogeneity in these practices. Twenty-nine Brazilian legal psychologists participated in this study and answered an online questionnaire built based on the literature. The analysis of the results was carried out through deductive and semantic Thematic Analysis, whose previous categories were created based on national and international guidelines. The most salient results indicate some divergences from the literature, but that its actions and dimensions are compatible with those found in the literature. Based on these results, a guide of systematized practices is proposed, aiming to promote greater uniformity in parental assessment. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In March 2020, a health emergency was declared in Brazil due to the covid-19 pandemic. This has brought major changes to daily work, making it necessary to adopt duty rosters to combine onsite and remote work, contributing to the decrease in the movement of people with the aim of slowing the spread of the virus. Mental health assumed a prominent place, emerging as a major social concern, which led to an increase in responsibilities and expectations regarding the performance of the team of psychologists in the coordination of worker's health in a noteworthy federal public health institution. The objective of the article is to produce a dialogue between the work experience of this team and concepts offered by the ergological perspective and by the Psychodynamics of work, seeking to broaden both the understanding of the concepts and the experience of mental health care in the context of the covid-19 health emergency. Psychologists play a significant role in addressing sexual violence against children and adolescents (SVCA) in Brazil. Most literature focuses on the role of public service psychologists in the intervention, resulting in the need to explore the role private clinical psychologists' (PCP) play in SVCA treatment. The study aims to: 1) investigate a possible relationship between sociodemographic factors, professional profiles, beliefs about SVCA, and PCPs' decision to report the abuse, and 2) understand the role PCPs play in evaluating, reporting, and treating cases of SVCA. The study sampled Brazilian PCPs. The quantitative phase consisted of 409 psychologists, and the qualitative phase consisted of 8 psychologists. The study used a mixed-methods sequential explanatory design to achieve its goals. The quantitative phase consisted of the Sociodemographic and Professional Questionnaire, Scenario 7, and the Sexual Abuse Belief Scale (SABS) measures. The qualitative phase consisted of individual semi-structured interviews. The descriptive statistics and a binary logistic regression model illustrated factors increasing the likelihood of reporting SVCA by PCPs, including a history of treating confirmed sexual violence cases, taking a course on sexual violence, receiving SVCA information during undergraduate studies, having a master and doctoral degree, and having a single relationship status. The thematic analysis resulted in four themes: The definition of sexual violence, the selectivity of the cases, educational under-preparation, and the need to build a performance network. PCPs require professional development to treatment SVCA, and schools of Psychology need to improve their curriculum regarding SVCA education. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objectives: To describe the process of implementing a palliative care team (PCT) in a Brazilian public tertiary university hospital and compare this intervention as an active in-hospital search (strategy I) with the Emergency Department (strategy II). Methods: We described the development of a complex Palliative Care Team (PCT). We evaluated the following primary outcomes: hospital discharge, death (in-hospital and follow-up mortality) or transfer, and performance outcomes-Perception Index (difference in days between hospitalization and the evaluation by the PTC), follow-up index (difference in days between the PTC evaluation and the primary outcome), and the in-hospital stay. Results: We included 1203 patients—strategy I (587; 48.8%) and strategy II (616; 51.2%). In both strategies, male and elderly patients were prevalent. Most came from internal medicine I (39.3%) and II (57.9%), p < 0.01. General clinical conditions (40%) and Oncology I (27.7%) and II (32.4%) represented the majority of the population. Over 70% of all patients had PPS 10 and ECOG 4 above 85%. There was a reduction of patients identified in ICU from I (20.9%) to II (9.2%), p < 0.01, reduction in the ward from I (60.8%) to II (42.5%), p < 0.01 and a significant increase from I (18.2%) to II (48.2%) in the emergency department, p < 0.01. Regarding in-hospital mortality, 50% of patients remained alive within 35 days of hospitalization (strategy I), while for strategy II, 50% were alive within 20 days of hospitalization (p < 0.01). As for post-discharge mortality, in strategy II, 50% of patients died 10 days after hospital discharge, while in strategy I, this number was 40 days (p < 0.01). In the Cox multivariate regression model, adjusting for possible confounding factors, strategy II increased 30% the chance of death. The perception index decreased from 10.9 days to 9.1 days, there was no change in follow-up (12 days), and the duration of in-hospital stay dropped from 24.3 to 20.7 days, p < 0.01. The primary demand was the definition of prognosis (56.7%). Conclusion: The present work showed that early intervention by an elaborate and complex PCT in the ED was associated with a faster perception of the need for palliative care and influenced a reduction in the length of hospital stay in a very dependent and compromised old population. To gain insights into psychologists' experience of working with refugees in Brazil, semi-structured interviews with 14 psychologists were conducted and analysed using thematic analysis. Results showed that participants experienced operating in a novel, precarious and xenophobic context, which led them to move beyond classical psychological work, engage in practical assistance and become very close to clients. Psychologists reported lack of public structures, insufficient competencies and high levels of fatigue. At the same time, they described gaining new perspectives and benefiting from witnessing their clients' resilience. In terms of facilitators for the work with refugees, participants pointed to the importance of psychologists being flexible, authentic, of showing a high frustration tolerance and of making use of group-based approaches. Participants suggested that, in order to better refugees' mental health in Brazil, efforts should focus on adopting a more social perspective in psychology, developing anti-discrimination campaigns, building policies for refugee' inclusion and scaling up investments in mental healthcare in general. Suggestions for future research are made, as well as for psychologists who work with refugees, such as fostering a more collectivity-focused and contextual understanding of mental health. This article aims to understand the role of psychologists in Brazil in providing online clinical care during the COVID-19 pandemic. This is a literature review, for which a survey of academic publications in Brazil was carried out, in the scientific bases SciELO and Google Scholar, with a time frame from January 2020 to December 2021, as well as Resolutions published by the Federal Council of Psychology, which had as The main focus is on the modality of psychological services provided in the online modality during the COVID-19 pandemic period. In total, four articles, one monograph and five Resolutions published by the Federal Council of Psychology were selected. Content Analysis was used for the evaluation, synthesis and final interpretation of the data. With the analysis, three main categories were reached, namely, I) Broadening horizons and integration of the professional category; II) Characterization of assistance during the pandemic; and III) Professional challenges. It is concluded that need for further research, mainly empirical, to deepen the theme, with regard to the structuring of online care and the psychosocial implications of this modality, as well as the construction of new regulations and legislation that guide a committed praxis and ethics considering the different social contexts. In this research work, we proposed to elucidate the practices and interventions of the Psychology professional working in the context of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Brazil's Unified Public Health System (SUS) of the Clinical Hospital of the Marília Medical School (SP). An interview with a psychologist inserted in this context was carried out, as well as a literature review of the work regulations in this area of expertise. Subsequently, reflections on the topic were carried out, which demonstrate the potential and difficulties of the professional in the face of multidisciplinary work in health care in the ICU. Being being exposed aspects such as: the importance of the psychologist's role in the patient/family/team triad as creators of spaces for dialogue and expression of feelings and affections are exposed; the importance of her role as a promoter of a humanitarian look within the ICU and the transformation of the biomedical model present in this space; the importance of the psychologist's role in approaching and reflecting on death and dying, aspects present in the context of the ICU; the need for continuing education in health services in order to complement the psychologist's training in this contexto; and also, the importance of consolidating and investing in public policies in hospital institutions, with the participation of the psychologist being essential here for the consolidation of the National Policy for the Humanization of Health Services, whose axes and guidelines guide the psychologist's work in the ICU. With the arrival of the new coronavirus pandemic in Brazil emergency measures emerged to try to contain the virus in order to avoid its propagation. Based on this context, health professionals were the hardest hit, either by extending their workday or by direct contact with patients and family members affected by COVID-19. Therefore, the main objective of this research is to answer how the COVID-19 pandemic impacts on the mental health of health workers from the psychology professional’s perspective. The general objective of the study is to present the eventual suffering process of these workers as well as their main causes. Methodologically, this is an exploratory research, qualitative and quantitative approach, developed through the deductive method. As data collection, bibliographic, documentary and field research stand out. In the last one a questionnaire was developed for psychologists working during the pandemic. As results, could be noticed that the increase workload and the lack of assistance and structure offered to health professionals who are working on the front lines of the COVID-19 combat are causing the illness of many of them, increasing the depression and anxiety symptoms and so many other variables exposed in the data presented. Background: Educational practices are indicated to promote the health of people with fibromyalgia in primary health care. We aimed to develop an educative interdisciplinary program intended at the health promotion of individuals with fibromyalgia. Methods: It is a study protocol that was developed following three phases in the city of São Paulo city, Brazil. Qualitative research was carried out, through a focal group, with 12 individuals with fibromyalgia and 10 health professionals. A thematic content analysis was made according to the content proposed by Bardin. Results: Fibro Friends is an interdisciplinary program with educational approaches that must be performed in 15 meetings, once a week for 1 h and 20 min. Participants were the following professionals: a Physiotherapist, a Doctor, a Psychologist, a Nutritionist, a Nurse, a Pharmacist/Druggist, a Speech Therapist, an Occupational Therapist, a Naturopath, and a Social Worker. A physical exercise program will also be carried out. The professionals must discuss in a lecture, conversation hearing, and/or group dynamic, about strategies to promote health and pain control in fibromyalgia. Conclusion: Fibro Friends is a program presenting educational interdisciplinary information to individuals with fibromyalgia, being considered a trend to future care. Objective: to evaluate distress and pleasure indicators in health care workers on the front line of care for suspected or confirmed COVID-19 cases. Method: an exploratory, analytical and crosssectional study with a quantitative approach. The studied sample consisted of 437 health professionals invited by electronic means, who answered the questionnaire on sociodemographic information, occupational aspects and clinical conditions. Distress and pleasure at work were considered as outcomes, which were analyzed with multinomial logistic regression regarding the associated independent variables. Results: Most of the participants were female (71.0%), nurses (55.6%), with a weekly working shift of 40 hours or more (75.8%); 61.6% of the participants suffered from mental distress. The psychosocial characteristics of high-strain work and low social support were reported by 23.8% and 52.9% of the participants, respectively. In the multiple analysis, distress and lack of pleasure at work were associated with high job strain, low support from coworkers and mental distress. The profession is also associated with distress at work. Conclusion: distress and lack of pleasure at work are associated with occupational characteristics and mental strain among health care workers in the COVID-19 scenario. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Studies on the workforce in rehabilitation in primary health care services are still unusual in health systems analysis. Data on the health worker density at the subnational level in rehabilitation in primary health care are not commonly observed in most health systems. Nevertheless, these data are core for the system's planning and essential for finding the balance between the composition, distribution, and number of workers for rehabilitation actions.Objective: This study aims to analyze the temporal space distribution of health professionals with higher education who performed rehabilitation actions in primary health care in Brazil from 2007 to 2020.Method: This is an ecological, time-series study on the supply of physiotherapists, audiologists, psychologists, and occupational therapists in primary health care, vis-a-vis the implementation of the Brazilian health policy denominated the Integrated Health Service Network for People with Disabilities. The data were obtained from the National Registry of Health Facilities. The period of analysis was from 2007 to 2020. The health worker density coefficient was calculated per 10,000 inhabitants annually, considering the five geographic regions of Brazil. The time trends of the coefficient of health professionals per year in Brazil and geographic regions were analyzed. For this purpose, joinpoint regression analysis was carried out. The average annual percentage variation was estimated, considering the respective confidence interval of 95%.Results: In 2007, there were 0.12 physiotherapists/10,000 inhabitants (2326), 0.05 audiologists/10,000 inhabitants (1024), and 0.205 psychologists/10,000 inhabitants (3762). In 2020, there was an increase in the coefficient of professionals/10,000 inhabitants in all professional categories to 0.47 psychologists (> 268.1%), 0.46 physiotherapists (> 424.8%), 0.14 audiologists (> 297.1%), and 0.04 occupational therapists (> 504.5%). There was a significant increase in the supply of physiotherapists (AAPC: 10.8), audiologists (AAPC: 7.6), psychologists (AAPC: 6.8), and occupational therapists (AAPC: 28.3), with little regional variation.Conclusion: Public health policies for rehabilitation have contributed to an increase in the workforce caring for people with disabilities in primary health care services. Background: Evidence regarding the feelings evoked, distress caused, and the best way to conduct protective stabilization for the management of young children is lacking. Aim: Describe the perceptions of mothers, psychologists, and pediatric dentists regarding the use of protective stabilization during the dental care of children up to three years of age attending a University Dental Clinic in southern Brazil. Design: After watching a video of dental care involving the protective stabilization technique, individualized qualitative interviews were held with three groups [mothers (n = 5), psychologists (n = 7), and pediatric dentists (n = 4)] to investigate four categories of interest: importance of the technique, affective attitude, distress caused to the child, and participation of parents. After the transcription of the recorded comments, qualitative content analysis was performed. Results: Protective stabilization generated emotional discomfort but was well accepted by all groups. All expressed the need to create a bond between the dentist and caregiver; and the active participation of the caregiver was considered fundamental. The mothers and psychologists rejected other options, such as passive restraint, general anesthesia, and sedation. Conclusion: The three groups admitted having negative feelings, recognized the importance of protective stabilization, and suggested conditions for its use. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This research aims to understand the institutionalization process of imprisoned subjects, identifying subjective effects and strategies they use in serving the sentence. It also contextualizes the work of the Psychology professional in the Brazilian prison system and the debate with the Courts around the criminological examination. The study has a genealogical approach, using interviews and document analysis. The participants are three professionals and three inmates of a male prison located in a southern state of Brazil. The analyses showed that prison, as a total institution, provokes a rupture with the outside world and the previous reality of the inmates and that they abandon their identity and assume an institutional identity. Conducts are prescribed that legitimize hierarchies, and a language that signals to belong to the group is shared. Generally, the family is supportive, but the distance between it and the prisoners is a source of suffering for them, who create adaptation tactics for institutional coexistence. The perspective of freedom provokes feelings of joy and fear because the ex-prisoner stereotype remains with them after serving the sentence. The Criminal Execution Law provides the criminological examination in order to establish a program for the individualization of the sentence and progression of the regime but, the Federal Council of Psychology is against its elaboration by psychologists regarding the criminological prognosis of recidivism, the measurement of dangerousness, and the establishment of a causal link from the crime-offender binomial, and argues for monitoring the prisoner from the perspective of humanization, overcoming the punitive paradigm. This article begins from the assumptions of Liberation Psychology to support reflections on the role of psychologists in the Unified Social Assistance System (SUAS). At first it outlines, then, it presents the trajectory of Psychology as a profession and Social Assistance as a public policy, to later discuss the role of psychologists in this context, problematizing challenges that present themselves in the current situation and the potential of these professionals' performance. The recovery and analysis of recent historical facts in Brazil evidenced the reduction of the State and the deprivation of historically conquered rights, which have materialized in the dismantling of SUAS, demanding strength of resistance to fight these setbacks from the professionals who work there, which also implies working with the oppressed so that they overcome their alienated identities, with a view of building practices committed to social transformation. Background Even with a universal public health system, the Brazilian population faces inequalities on access to healthcare. Long queues for medical appointments, caused by lack of professionals, space and equipment, are barriers for those who cannot pay for treatments. However, health professionals working in the private sector may have free hours at their clinics which they can donate. Objectives We report the implementation of a non-governmental initiative for connecting health professionals willing to volunteer and patients needing healthcare services, and present the initial results concerning access to healthcare. Methods The network 'Horas da Vida' was created in Brazil to connect health professionals and patients. We analysed the number of patients and professionals involved, specialties, visits and services provided, and economic values. Results In 2016, 1748 professionals were involved with the network. 6967 services were provided (1831 consultations) to 1974 patients, most of whom were unemployed and with low income, and 20% were illiterate. Medical, dental, nutritional, physical therapy or psychological consults, simple therapeutic procedures, eyeglasses, and educational services were provided by psychologists (29%), dentists (6%), nutritionists (5%) and physical therapists (5%). Only 5% of physicians were general practitioners. We calculated the cost of care at R$985 979.21 in 2016 (or US$314 446.74 on 18 September 2017). Conclusions The Horas da Vida network made it easy to organise a schedule and identify free hours in the clinics that could be used for volunteering and for providing health assistance to a large number of socially deprived and economically vulnerable patients. This research had the objective of verifying self - care practices at the individual, professional, collective and institutional levels carried out by professionals of assistance to victims of violence against women. With this purpose, an interview script with questions about these aspects was applied to 12 professionals from centers for the care of victims of violence against women in Aracaju and in the interior of Sergipe, Brazil. The findings point to the importance of sociocultural and economic factors in health care practices, the collective and institutional damage caused by the presence of a State that is distanced from public issues, and reveal the conflicts and difficulties of delimiting the role of the psychology professional in the area of social assistance. Thus, the results of this study point to the strengthening of the debate on the roles assumed by women, the public policy movements and the construction of new knowledge for the professional performance of the psychologist. In our comment on Held (2020) we attempt to deepen her criticism and reflection about epistemic violence while addressing the need for its elimination in psychological science. We acknowledge her argument about the prepositional divisions that emerge between two large groups of psychologies or psychologists (mainstream psychology vs. Indigenous and critical psychologies): from above and from below. In relation to these prepositional problems, we agree that the explanations derived from these divisions in terms of of, for, and about are confusing. However, we consider that Held's reflections concerning the set of prepositions in the production of knowledge based on "of, from, and for the other" neglect another alternative that is "with the other." According to this last point, we briefly present Bakhtin's theoretical notion of co-authorship to argue that generally, epistemic violence is committed by not recognizing the voices of the participants involved. In addition, we use examples of our work with Indigenous communities in Brazil to show that generating knowledge together and with Indigenous peoples is a valid and necessary way to eliminate epistemic violence. The smoking groups developed in the Primary Attention in Health represent an important strategy for the treatment of the smoker user. This text consists of a descriptive study that aims to report the experience of three resident health professionals, one nurse, one pharmacist and one psychologist, in tobacco cessation groups, developed in the Family Health Strategy of the municipality of Santa Rosa, State of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, between 2017 and 2018. The results showed similar characteristics in the majority of the groups that interfere to the low adherence to the treatment, the motivation of the participants, the integration among the members, and the organization and group dynamics as factors that interfere in cessation of tobacco use. Considering this, strategies should be adopted jointly with the multiprofessional team aiming at greater dissemination of the groups, dissemination of information to the population enrolled in the health territory and improvement by the professionals in the management and care of the smoker. BACKGROUND: The use of electronic health records (EHR) is related to the improvement of service quality and care coordination. The design of this platform generally focuses on the individual use of the system and does not integrate the specific needs of workers to provide support for collaborative activities. OBJECTIVE: The study investigated how activity ergonomics (AE) contributed to improve the design of an EHR that supports the collaborative mental health care of children and youth. METHODS: This qualitative study, based on the theoretical framework of AE, used individual and group interviews and document analysis as research procedures. The data collection occurred between March and September 2017 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. RESULTS: The study highlighted the following points: the characteristics that marked the different perceptions of workers regarding the use of a communication tool for collaborative care; the problems related to spreadsheet usability; and the desirable attributes that should be considered in the conception of a new EHR. In this article, we present and discuss the repercussions of working conditions in social care services on the subjectivity of psychologists who work with this public policy in Brazil. Based on interviews with psychologists, we argue that the subcontracting process of the Unified Social Assistance System (Sistema Único da Assistência Social—SUAS) brings about the establishment of fragile employment relationships, low salaries, lack of training, and high staff turnover. Besides this insecurity due to precarious work, outsourcing makes those workers' lives precarious, since it makes them feel insecure, emotionally overwhelmed and "suffocated." To cope with this situation, these professionals seek technical and emotional support from their colleagues, especially engaging in study groups outside working hours. Their discourses have allowed us to conclude that, despite advocating a crackdown on the insecurity of labor and the end of subcontracting, Brazilian laws leave loopholes for feeble labor bonds. In Brazil, the professionalization of Psychology is a consequence of debates among different professions involved into its applications during the first half of the 20th century. Part of this debate was limited to the clinical applications of psychological methods and techniques; elements connected to Psychology, Psychiatry, and Psychoanalysis. In this regard, this study highlights psychological practices and knowledges in circulation in the "Arquivos de Neuro-Psiquiatria", between 1943 and 1962. The results show the use of psychological methods and techniques to address different conditions, and a strong appropriation of psychodynamic theories. Clinical appropriations of Neuropsychiatry that helps to a better comprehension of the scientific and professional debates are noteworthy, connected to the institutionalization of the training and the profession of Psychologist, in the country. This paper presents a report of personal experiences with the deceased psychologist Fernando González Rey. Also, this text briefly presents his academic trajectory, emphasizing the background of the research path that culminated in the development and development of the Theory of Subjectivity from a cultural-historical perspective. González Rey was a renowned Cuban psychologist, who did part of his studies in the former Soviet Union and spent the last two decades of his life in Brazil. His prolific and extensive work offers contributions to a critical and innovative reading of the legacy of cultural-historical psychology, as well as advances in a new theoretical definition, along with its epistemological and methodological foundations, of human subjectivity. Importantly, this paper highlights not only González Rey's creativity as an author, but also the generosity, enthusiasm, strength and passion that characterized him as an educator and as a human being. The reporting of rape to police is an important component of this crime to have the criminal justice system involved and, potentially, punish offenders. However, for a number of reasons (fear of retribution, self-blame, etc.), most rapes are not reported to police. Most often, the research investigating this phenomenon considers incident and victim factors with little attention to the spatio-temporal factors of the rape. In this study, we consider incident, victim, and spatio-temporal factors relating to rape reporting in Campinas, Brazil. Our primary research question is whether or not the spatio-temporal factors play a significant role in the reporting of rape, over and above incident and victim factors. The subjects under study are women who were admitted to the Women's Integrated Healthcare Center at the State University of Campinas, Brazil, and surveyed by a psychologist or a social worker. Rape reporting to police was measured using a dichotomous variable. Logistic regression was used to predict the probability of rape reporting based on incident, victim, and spatio-temporal factors. Although we find that incident and victim factors matter for rape reporting, spatio-temporal factors (rape/home location and whether the rape was in a private or public place) play an important role in rape reporting, similar to the literature that considers these factors. This result has significant implications for sexual violence education. Only when we know why women decide not to report a rape may we begin to work on strategies to overcome these hurdles. In Brazil, the postgraduate programs (PPGs) are rated by CAPES - Coordination of Superior Level Staff Improvement - every 4 years. Among the criteria to rate the PPGs, the stratification of the published articles is essential. These stratifications are performed within each area. As public resources are based on these ratings, there is a need to verify if the stratification criteria are comparable among different areas. Thus, the objectives of this article are: 1) To verify if the stratification (2013-2016) of the periodicals in a sub-area of Psychology (physiological-experimental) fulfilled the recommendation of internationalization/interdisciplinarity; 2) To compare the stratification in Psychology-Physiological-Experimental subarea (PPEsa) with those in other subareas that deal with the same theme (Biology and Medicine; 3) To study internal consistency in stratification within the PPEsa. International impact indexes (Clarivate-JCR and Scopus-SJR), PsycInfo database, and the periodicals listed by the Psychology PPGs were used. The median Impact Factor in stratum A1 of PPEsa was between 0.000 and 2,000, far below from those in related sub-areas (> 3,000). Similar results were found in strata A2 and B1. Discrepant stratifications were found when the same journals addressing common themes are compared across the sub-areas. Within the PPEsa, there was no correlation between the impact factors and the stratification ratings. Conclusions: Interdisciplinarity and internationalization were not achieved; the advisory committee of the Psychology area does not use internationally accepted indexers, privileging quantity over quality; the list generated by PPGs (Psychology) includes low impact journals; other PPGs including more psychologists should improve the quality of both the list and the stratification criteria. Provita’s public policy aims to maintain the physical and psychological integrity of witnesses and victims of violence and organized crime in Brazil. Its highly secretive and restrictive model for the social life of the protégés imposes great complexity on the relationship that’s established between the users and the operators of the protection network. Focusing on the resulting impasses, the present reading seeks to problematize and reflect on the elements that influence these links, looking for possible solutions to the inherent conflicts. The data analyzed come from fragments of cases resulting from the experience of six years of work as a Provita psychologist. In the methodology, the data received reading in the psychosocial perspective, whose focus turns to the historical and social dimensions of the life of protected users. Objective: To know and analyze the critical path followed by women subjected to intimate partner violence until reaching a Reference Center of a Brazilian city, from the perspective of these women. Method: Qualitative research, based on the concept of critical path. Participant observations of the support group of the Reference Center and interviews with ten women in situations of violence who were followed up in this service. Results: the motivating factors for women to seek help were the increase in the severity of the aggressions, the impact of the violence on their children and support from their family. They go to several sectors and services before reaching the Reference Center, such as the police and legal counsel, health and social services. They find little effective responses from the services, and care is indicated as the most relevant response factor to face the situation. Conclusion: the assistance is fragmented and dependent on the posture of the professional. The Reference Center is recognized as an important place of support for women. In addition to governmental efforts to maintain the network structured, the permanent education of the working professionals is also fundamental. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
