This research verifies the influence of presence on social media on the brand equity and image of companies and the purchase intention of restaurant consumers who are active on social media. The restaurant studied was Crab Island Restaurant, in Brazil. We identified positive and significant relationships between the construct presence on social media and perceived image, purchase intention, and brand equity as well as an indirect effect of media on purchase intention, mediated by perceived image. Only the direct relationship between brand value and purchase intention and the indirect relationship between presence on social media and purchase intention, mediated by brand equity, were not supported. For the restaurant under study, we concluded that it benefits from investing in social media as a promotion channel and maintaining its relationship and communication with its customers. Juvenile-Takayasu arteritis (j-TA) is a difficult diagnosis and some patients develop uncommon manifestations and associated diseases that may contribute to the delayed diagnosis. Our aim was to identify the misdiagnoses, the associated diseases and the atypical manifestations observed in a j-TA Brazilian multicentre study. 71 children and adolescents who met the classification criteria for j-TA were included. The misdiagnoses, the associated diseases and the atypical manifestations were evaluated. 19 (26.8%) patients had misdiagnoses. The most common of them was aortic coarctation in six (8.4%) patients, followed by rheumatic fever in five (7.0%) and one patient presented with both former diagnoses. Limb pain (two patients), spondyloarthropathy, juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA), spinal arteriovenous malformation, polyarteritis nodosa (PAN) and fever of unknown origin (FUO) were other misdiagnoses. Patients who had misdiagnoses previously to j-TA diagnosis presented a trend to have a longer diagnosis delay. 11 (15.5%) patients had 14 TA-associated diseases, such as pulmonary tuberculosis (5 patients), rheumatic fever (2 patients), spondyloarthropathy, polyarticular JIA, Crohn’s disease, Prader-Willi disease, diabetes mellitus, Moyamoya and primary immunodeficiency. 7 (9.9%) patients presented 10 atypical manifestations, such as pyoderma gangrenosum, erythema nodosum, myositis, chorea, enthesitis, episcleritis, uveitis, hepatomegaly, splenomegaly and necrosis of extremities. Our study emphasizes the main misdiagnoses, associated diseases and atypical manifestations that occur in patients with j-TA and warns of the features that may alert paediatricians to this diagnosis, such as constitutional symptoms and elevated inflammatory markers. Introduction: The deficiency of ADA2 (DADA2) is a rare autoinflammatory disease provoked by mutations in the ADA2 gene inherited in a recessive fashion. Up to this moment there is no consensus for the treatment of DADA2 and anti-TNF is the therapy of choice for chronic management whereas bone marrow transplantation is considered for refractory or severe phenotypes. Data from Brazil is scarce and this multicentric study reports 18 patients with DADA2 from Brazil., Patients and Methods: This is a multicentric study proposed by the Center for Rare and Immunological Disorders of the Hospital 9 de Julho - DASA, São Paulo - Brazil. Patients of any age with a confirmed diagnosis of DADA2 were eligible for this project and data on clinical, laboratory, genetics and treatment were collected., Results: Eighteen patients from 10 different centers are reported here. All patients had disease onset at the pediatric age (median of 5 years) and most of them from the state of São Paulo. Vasculopathy with recurrent stroke was the most common phenotype but atypical phenotypes compatible with ALPS-like and Common Variable Immunodeficiency (CVID) was also found. All patients carried pathogenic mutations in the ADA2 gene. Acute management of vasculitis was not satisfactory with steroids in many patients and all those who used anti-TNF had favorable responses., Conclusion: The low number of patients diagnosed with DADA2 in Brazil reinforces the need for disease awareness for this condition. This study aimed to determine the occurrence of anti-Toxoplasma gondii, Neospora caninum, and Leptospira spp. antibodies in sheep and goats raised in villages of the Xukuru do Ororubá indigenous community, Pernambuco, Brazil. A total of 180 serum samples from sheep and 108 serum samples from goats of both sexes and different ages were analyzed. For antibody research, indirect immunofluorescence antibody test (IFAT) were used for the protozoa T. gondii and N. caninum, and microscopic agglutination test (MAT) for Leptospira spp., with a cutoff titer of 1:64, 1:50 and 1:100, respectively. The frequency of anti-T. gondii antibodies was 16.6% (30/180) for sheep and 11.1% (12/108) for goats. The frequency of anti-N. caninum antibodies was 10.55% (19/180) for sheep, and 20.37% (22/108) for goats, while for Leptospira spp., 2.2% (4/180) of sheep and 1.85% (2/108) of goats reacted positively. The results obtained in this study are unprecedented in indigenous communities in the country and serve as an alert for monitoring goats and sheep from the Xukuru do Ororubá indigenous village regarding the occurrence and productive impact of infections by T. gondii, N. caninum, and Leptospira spp., in addition to the occurrence of the zoonosis toxoplasmosis and leptospirosis in the indigenous community.

Background: Paediatric inflammatory multisystem syndrome (PIMS) associated with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has been described since mid-April 2020 with the first reports coming from Europe. Our objective was to describe the characteristics of patients among the Brazilian population., Methods: A multicenter retrospective study was conducted with the participation of five pediatric rheumatology centers in Brazil during the period from March to November 2020. Children and adolescents with PIMS temporally associated with SARS-CoV-2 (TS) who met the definition criteria for the disease according to the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health were included. Demographic, clinical, laboratory, therapeutic characteristics and molecular and serological diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 infection were described., Results: Fifty-seven children and adolescents with PIMS-TS were evaluated, 54% female, with a median age of 8 (3-11) years. Most (86%) were previously healthy, with asthma being the main comorbidity, present in 10% of the patients. Fever was the main manifestation, present in all patients, followed by mucocutaneous and gastrointestinal features, present in 89% and 81% of the patients, respectively. Myocarditis occurred in 21% of the patients and in 68% of them required intensive care. The Kawasaki disease phenotype occurred in most patients (77%). All patients had elevated inflammatory markers, with elevated CRP being the most found (98%). Anemia and lymphopenia were present in 79% and 72%, respectively. Laboratory evidence of SARS-CoV-2 was found in 77% of the patients, with 39% positive RT-PCR and 84% positive serology for SARS-CoV-2. An immunomodulatory treatment was performed in 91% of the patients, with 67% receiving intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) associated with glucocorticoid, 21% receiving IVIG, and 3.5% receiving glucocorticoid. The median length of hospitalization was 10 days., Conclusions: This study showed a high morbidity of PIMS-TS in Brazilian children, with a prolonged length of hospitalization and a high rate of admission to pediatric intensive care unit. Objective: To evaluate the influence of ethnicity in presentation of childhood-onset systemic lupus erythematosus (cSLE) patients., Methods: This multicenter study included cSLE patients (American College of Rheumatology criteria) followed in 27 Pediatric Rheumatology services of Brazil. Ethnicities were classified in four groups according to the parents' and all four grandparents' self-reported ethnicity. The statistical analysis was performed using the Bonferroni's correction (p < 0.0027)., Results: According to ethnic groups, 1537 cSLE patients were classified in Caucasian (n = 786), African-Latin American (n = 526), Asian (n = 8), and others/unknown (n = 217). Comparisons between 1312 African-Latin American and Caucasian revealed similar median age at cSLE diagnosis [12.2(2.6-18) vs. 12.1(0.3-18) years, p = 0.234], time interval to diagnosis [0.25(0-12) vs. 0.3(0-10) years, p = 0.034], and SLEDAI-2K score [14(0-55) vs. 14(0-63), p = 0.781] in both groups. The mean number of diagnostic criteria according to SLICC (6.47 ± 1.911 vs. 5.81 ± 1.631, p < 0.0001) and frequencies of maculopapular lupus rash (8% vs. 3%, p < 0.0001), palate oral ulcers (17% vs. 11%, p = 0.001), tongue oral ulcers (4% vs. 1%, p = 0.001), and nonscarring alopecia (29% vs. 16%, p < 0.0001) were significantly higher in African-Latin American, whereas malar rash (45% vs. 58%, p < 0.0001) was more frequent in Caucasian. The presence of anti-phospholipid antibody (23% vs. 12%, p < 0.0001), low complement levels (58% vs. 41%, p < 0.0001), and isolated direct Coombs test (10% vs. 5%, p = 0.001) was also significantly higher in the former group., Conclusions: Our study demonstrated that disease presentation severity of African-Latin American cSLE patients is comparable with Caucasian. Mucocutaneous manifestations and autoantibodies profile were the only distinctive features of the former group. The unique mixed background of Brazilian patients probably minimized race diversity spectrum of these patients. Objectives: To evaluate and compare demographic, clinical, laboratory and angiographic data of Brazilian children and adolescents with Takayasu's arteritis., Methods: In this Brazilian multicentre, retrospective study which included 10 paediatric rheumatology centres, we identified 71 children and adolescents with Takayasu's arteritis which were diagnosed before their 19th birthday. The patients' demographic, clinical, laboratorial and angiographic data were recorded. The participants were divided into two groups: children, defined by the WHO as younger than 10 years old (group 1: 36 patients) and adolescents, defined as individuals aged 10 to 19 years old (group 2: 35 patients). Features of both groups concerning disease manifestations were compared., Results: A total of 21 (58.3%) patients in group 1 and 30 (85.7%) patients in group 2 were girls (p=0.01). The mean age at disease onset, the mean time to diagnosis, and the mean follow-up time were 5.7 and 12.7, 1.8 and 0.7, 7.2 and 3.6 years, respectively, in groups 1 and 2 (p<0.001, 0.001 and <0.001). At initial evaluation, constitutional symptoms (77.5%) were the most predominant symptoms and decreased peripheral pulses (85.9%) was the most predominant clinical sign without differences between groups. The main laboratory findings were increased erythrocyte sedimentation rate followed by leukocytosis. Anaemia, thrombocytosis and higher platelet levels were significantly more frequent in group 1 (p=0.031, 0.001 and 0.018). Angiographic data were similar in both groups., Conclusions: Children presented more laboratory abnormalities but clinical and angiographic characteristics were similar to those presented by the adolescents. Diagnosis delay is longer in younger patients.

Objective: To evaluate the neuropsychological profile and health-related quality of life (HRQOL) of adults who had rheumatic fever (RF) during childhood with and without Sydenham's chorea (SC)., Methods: Three groups of patients were assessed: adults who had RF with SC during childhood (SC group), adults who had RF without SC during childhood (RF group), and controls (CT group). A range of neuropsychological tests looked at several cognitive domains. HRQOL was measured through a Brazilian version of the Short Form 36 (SF-36) health survey., Results: Twenty patients were included in the SC group, 23 patients in the RF group, and 19 patients in the CT group. The 3 groups were homogeneous regarding sex (P = 0.078), age (P = 0.799), schooling (P = 0.600), socioeconomic status (P = 0.138), intelligence quotient (P = 0.329), and scores for anxiety (P = 0.156) and depression (P = 0.076). The SC group demonstrated inferior performance in tests that assessed attention (Digit Span Forward [P = 0.005], Corsi Block Forward [P = 0.014]), speeded information processing (Trail Making A [P = 0.009], Symbol Search [P = 0.042]), and executive functions and working memory (Corsi Block Backward [P = 0.028]), and higher scores for attention deficit scale (P = 0.030) when compared with the RF and CT groups. They also showed a tendency toward lower scores in the physical aspects, vitality, emotional aspects, and mental health domains of the SF-36. The RF group had a lower score for the general health domain than the CT group (P = 0.030)., Conclusion: Patients who had SC during childhood can exhibit inferior performance in tasks that evaluate attention, speeded information processing, executive functions, and working memory in adult life. Therefore, there is indirect evidence of the persistence of dysfunction in cerebral circuits involved with the basal ganglia. They also presented a worse self-evaluation in HRQOL that was not related to cognitive impairments.

Samples of oysters marketed in Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil, were monitored for the concentration of trace elements (Hg, Zn, Fe, Cu, and Mn) for one year (from March 2001 to February 2002). Mercury was the principal contaminant found in oysters and the element posing the greatest public health risk. Mercury levels in oysters reached 551.12 g/kg (wet weight). These values suggest that oyster consumption should be restricted, especially among communities that gather them as a subsistence activity, as well as by children and pregnant women. Evaluation of mercury concentration in seafood is an important factor for assessing the risk of contamination among individuals who are not occupationally exposed.
