The indoor rock climbing (IRC) can be performed in fitness centers, hence it's important to know the people's interest in this modality. Thus, the goal of the present study was to investigate the profile of people who workout in fitness centers (PWFC) in Ipatinga city and their interest in practice IRC. Therefore, we recruited 120 volunteers at four fitness center A (n = 30; age = 24 ± 5.7 years old), B (n = 30; 30 ± 10.8 years old), C (n = 30; 33 ± 9.7 years old) and D (n = 30; 32 ± 12.9 years old) and requested them to answer two questionnaires. A descriptive analysis of these data was performed. The results indicated that 60% of PWFC were male, 66% were between 18 and 30 years old, 52% were college graduates, 55% were enrolled in the gym for less than one year, 83% have practiced only bodybuilding, 60% have not been engaged in outdoor activities, and 54% would like to practice IRC. We conclude that the PWFC are young, male, college-educated, gym beginners and that most of them would like to practice IRC. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
