Abstract

The article compares anti-HIV-1 T-cell immune responses among unvaccinated individuals from Botswana and Cameroon results infected with diverse HIV-1 clades. Response rates to clade B Gag and/or clade B Nef proteins were the same when compared with countries including Brazil, Thailand, South Africa, Malawi and the United States. Overall, 93 percent of individuals responded to either all 3 clade Gag or all 3 clade Nef proteins in Botswana and 98 percent responded to clade B Gag and/or Nef proteins in Cameroon.
