Undecidability and interpretation: metatheoretic distinctions in Western philosophy: William Boos: Metamathematics and the philosophical tradition (edited by Florence S. Boos). In the second chapter Boos argues for a conjectural assimilation of platonic forms "to the idealised and extratheoretic notions which twentieth-century mathematical logicians call "intended interpretations". In some senses this chapter has most appeal to classical philosophers as it treads briskly from Plato and Aristotle, through to David Hilbert, Thoralf Skolem, Kurt Gödel, and others.
