The article presents the author's assessment of the symposion entitled "Success of the City in the 21st Century" in Berlin, Germany. He emphasized different things to be considered and to be prioritized to attain the success of the city. The discussions include providing an important recognition of the spirit of the individual in the city life. He suggested that there should be a serious thinking for the way mankind is continuing to impact adversely on the nature in the city. As a reference to ekistic theory and practice, social sustainability should be identified as a needed focus. Traditional and cultural settlement models should be recognized in application to city building.
