Background: mHealth, the practice of medicine aided by mobile devices is a growing market. Although the offer on Anesthesia applications (Apps) is quite prolific, representative formal assessments on the views of anesthesia practitioners on its use and potential place in daily practice is lacking. This survey aimed thus to cross-assess the Belgian anesthesia population on the use of smartphone Apps and peripherals., Methods: The survey was exclusively distributed as an online anonymous questionnaire. Sharing took place via hyperlink forwarding by the Belgian Society for Anesthesia and Reanimation (BSAR) and by the Belgian Association for Regional Anesthesia (BARA) to all registered members. The first answer took place on 5 September 2018, the last on 22 January 2019., Results: Three hundred forty-nine answers were obtained (26.9% corresponding to trainees, 73.1% to specialists). Anesthesiologists were positively confident that Apps and peripherals could help improve anesthesia care (57.0 and 47.9%, respectively, scored 4 or 5, in a scale from 0 to 5). Trainees were significantly more confident than specialists on both mobile Apps (71.2% and 51.8%, respectively; p = 0.001) and peripherals (77.7% and 45.1%, respectively; p = 0.09). The usefulness of Apps and Peripherals was rated 1 or below (on a 0 to 5 scale), respectively, by 9.5 and 14.6% of the total surveyed population, being specialists proportionally less confident in Smartphone peripherals than trainees (p = 0.008). Mobile apps are actively used by a significantly higher proportional number of trainees (67.0% vs. 37.3%, respectively; p = 0.000001). The preferred category of mobile Apps was dose-calculating applications (39.15%), followed by digital books (21. 1%) and Apps for active perioperative monitoring (20.0%)., Conclusions: Belgian Anesthesia practitioners show a global positive attitude towards smartphone Apps and Peripherals, with trainees trending to be more confident than specialists., Trial Registration: ClinicalTrials.gov database Identifier: NCT03750084. Background: Ketorolac has been associated with a lower risk of recurrence in retrospective studies, especially in patients with positive inflammatory markers. It is still unknown whether a single dose of pre-incisional ketorolac can prolong recurrence-free survival., Methods: The KBC trial is a multicenter, placebo-controlled, randomized phase III trial in high-risk breast cancer patients powered for 33% reduction in recurrence rate (from 60 to 40%). Patients received one dose of ketorolac tromethamine or a placebo before surgery. Eligible patients were breast cancer patients, planned for curative surgery, and with a Neutrophil-to-Lymphocyte Ratio≥4, node-positive disease or a triple-negative phenotype. The primary endpoint was Disease-Free Survival (DFS) at two years. Secondary endpoints included safety, pain assessment and overall survival., Findings: Between February 2013 and July 2015, 203 patients were assigned to ketorolac (n = 96) or placebo (n = 107). Baseline characteristics were similar between arms. Patients had a mean age of 55.7 (SD14) years. At two years, 83.1% of the patients were alive and disease free in the ketorolac vs. 89.7% in the placebo arm (HR: 1.23; 95%CI: 0.65-2.31) and, respectively, 96.8% vs. 98.1% were alive (HR: 1.09; 95%CI: 0.34-3.51)., Conclusions: A single administration of 30 mg of ketorolac tromethamine before surgery does not increase disease-free survival in high risk breast cancer patients. Overall survival difference between ketorolac tromethamine group and placebo group was not statistically significant. The study was however underpowered because of lower recurrence rates than initially anticipated. Cancer is the second leading cause of death among children aged 5 to 14, after accidents. We conducted a study on the epidemiology of childhood cancer in the university pediatric oncology department of the CHU-CHR in Liège, Belgium. We studied a cohort of 662 patients between the ages of 0 and 17 whose malignancy diagnosis was made between 1985 and 2016. The analyzes were performed retrospectively using medical files. The number of new cases, the proportion of different cancers, sex ratio, age at diagnosis and survival at 5 and 10 years were the epidemiological factors studied.We have been able to show an increase in the number of new diagnoses per year. More than 40 % of childhood cancers occur before the age of five. The most common neoplasias are leukemias, tumors of the central nervous system and lymphomas. This distribution is influenced by age. All malignant tumours combined, we observed a slightly larger proportion of affected boys than girls. Overall survival at 5 years reaches 80.2 %. However, it varies according to the type of tumour from 59.3 % for malignant soft tissue tumors up to 100 % for hepatoblastomas.

We present the experience of the Citadelle Hospital (Liege, B) in the diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of medulloblastoma in children. A retrospective study of 10 cases of medulloblastoma was performed. Five years after diagnosis, the event-free survival was 77%.
