Background: Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is an important carcinogenic infection highly prevalent among many populations. However, independent influencing factors and predictive models for HPV infection in both U.S. and Beijing females are rarely confirmed. In this study, our first objective was to explore the overlapping HPV infection-related factors in U.S. and Beijing females. Secondly, we aimed to develop an R package for identifying the top-performing prediction models and build the predictive models for HPV infection using this R package., Methods: This cross-sectional study used data from the 2009-2016 NHANES (a national population-based study) and the 2019 data on Beijing female union workers from various industries. Prevalence, potential influencing factors, and predictive models for HPV infection in both cohorts were explored., Results: There were 2,259 (NHANES cohort, age: 20-59 years) and 1,593 (Beijing female cohort, age: 20-70 years) participants included in analyses. The HPV infection rate of U.S. NHANES and Beijing females were, respectively 45.73 and 8.22%. The number of male sex partners, marital status, and history of HPV infection were the predominant factors that influenced HPV infection in both NHANES and Beijing female cohorts. However, condom application was not an independent influencing factor for HPV infection in both cohorts. R package Modelbest was established. The nomogram developed based on Modelbest package showed better performance than the nomogram which only included significant factors in multivariate regression analysis., Conclusion: Collectively, despite the widespread availability of HPV vaccines, HPV infection is still prevalent. Compared with condom promotion, avoidance of multiple sexual partners seems to be more effective for preventing HPV infection. Nomograms developed based on Modelbest can provide improved personalized risk assessment for HPV infection. Urban green spaces (UGSs) are often positively associated with the health of urban residents. However, UGSs may also have adverse health effects by releasing biogenic volatile organic compounds (BVOCs) and increasing the ambient concentrations of ozone (O 3 ) and secondary organic aerosols in urban areas. BVOC emissions from UGSs might be underestimated because of the lack of consideration of the UGS land-use type in urban areas. As such, in this study, we used a newly released satellite dataset, Sentinel-2, with a resolution of 10 m, to derive the classification distribution of UGSs and predict the UGS emissions of BVOCs in Beijing in 2019. The results showed that the annual emissions of BVOCs from UGSs were approximately 2.9 Gg C (95% confidence interval (CI): 2.4-3.3) in the six core districts, accounting for approximately 39% of the total UGS emissions in Beijing. Compared with the results based on Sentinel-2, the BVOC emissions might be underestimated by approximately 37% (95% CI: 11-63) using the commonly used satellite dataset. UGSs produced the highest BVOC emissions in summer (from June to August), accounting for 75.2% of the annual emissions. UGSs contributed the most to the O 3 formation potential in summer, accounting for 41.5% of the total. We could attribute a considerable amount of the O 3 concentration (27.0 μg m -3 , 95% CI: 21.4-32.6) to the UGS BVOCs produced in the core districts of Beijing in July. Background: Heavy fine particulate matter with an aerodynamic diameter ≤2.5 μm (PM 2.5 ) pollution events continue to occur frequently in developing countries., Objectives: The authors conducted a case-crossover study aimed at exploring the association between heavy PM 2.5 pollution events and hospital admission for cardiovascular diseases., Methods: Hospital admissions for cardiovascular diseases were observed by Beijing Municipal Commission of Health and Family Planning Information Center from 2013 to 2017. Air pollution data were collected from the Beijing Municipal Environmental Monitoring Center. Distinct definitions were used to identify heavy and extremely heavy fine particulate pollution events. A conditional logistic regression model was used. The hospital admission burdens for cardiovascular disease were also estimated., Results: A total of 2,202,244 hospital admissions for cardiovascular diseases and 222 days of extremely heavy PM 2.5 pollution events (PM 2.5 concentration ≥150 μg/m 3 ) were observed. The ORs associated with extremely heavy PM 2.5 pollution events lasting for 3 days or more for total cardiovascular disease, angina, myocardial infarction, ischemic stroke, and heart failure were 1.085 (95% CI: 1.077-1.093), 1.112 (95% CI: 1.095-1.130), 1.068 (95% CI: 1.037-1.100), 1.071 (95% CI: 1.053-1.090), and 1.060 (95% CI: 1.021-1.101), respectively. The numbers and days of cardiovascular disease hospital admission annually related to extremely heavy PM 2.5 pollution events lasting for 1 day or more were 3,311 (95% CI: 2,969-3,655) and 37,020 (95% CI: 33,196-40,866), respectively., Conclusions: Heavy and extremely heavy PM 2.5 pollution events resulted in substantial increased hospital admission risk for cardiovascular disease. Objectives: Dietary ω-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (ω-3 PUFAs) may affect infants' executive function (EF), although it remains unclear whether this may be the effect of total ω-3 PUFAs or any specific ω-3 PUFA. We assessed the associations between ω-3 PUFAs in breast milk and EF in infants at 8 mo of age., Methods: Milk samples from the mothers of 120 breast-fed infants were collected at 42 d and 8 mo postpartum in Beijing, China. Infant's EF was evaluated by planning tasks and A-not-B tasks, including working memory, distractibility, and inhibition of prepotent response at age 8 mo., Results: Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) concentrations in breast milk were significantly higher at 42 d than 8 mo postpartum. Breast milk EPA levels at both 42 d (P = 0.037) and 8 mo (P = 0.005) postpartum were negatively associated with infant distractibility when EPA levels were low (< 0.05%). No significant association was observed for other ω-3 PUFAs with infant EF scores., Conclusions: Our results suggest a beneficial effect of higher EPA in breast milk (improving infant's attention) when its levels are below a certain threshold., (Copyright © 2021 The Author(s). Two influenza B virus lineages, B/Victoria and B/Yamagata, are co-circulating in human population. While the two lineages are serologically distinct and TIV only contain one lineage. It is important to investigate the epidemiological and evolutionary dynamics of two influenza B virus lineages in Beijing after the free influenza vaccine policy from 2007. Here, we collected the nasopharyngeal swabs of 12657 outpatients of influenza-like illness and subtyped by real-time RT-PCR during 2011-2017. The HA and NA genes of influenza B were fully sequenced. The prevalence is the highest in the 6-17 years old group among people infected with influenza B. Yamagata-lineage virus evolved to two inter-clade from 2011-2014 to 2014-2017. The amino acids substitutions of HA1 region were R279K in strains of 2011-2014 and L173Q, M252V in strains of 2014-2017. Substitutions L58P, I146V were observed in HA1 region of Victoria-lineage virus in 2011-2012 and I117V, N129D were showed in 2015-2017. Phylogenetic analysis of NA showed Yamagata-Victoria inter-lineage reassortant occurred in 2013-2014. Influenza B mainly infect the school-aged children in Beijing and the free influenza vaccine inoculation does not seem to block school-age children from infection with influenza B. The antigen characteristics of circulating influenza B were different to the recommended vaccine strains. We concluded that the Victoria-lineage vaccine strain should been changed and the free influenza vaccine should be revalued.

Background: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is a major cause of morbidity and mortality all over the world. Acute exacerbation of COPD (AECOPD) not only accelerates the progression of disease, but also causes hospital administration and death events. Epidemiologic studies have shown air pollution is a high risk factor of AECOPD. However, there are rare technics or treatment strategies recommended to reduce severe air pollution related AECOPD., Methods: This is a multi-center, prospective, randomized and standard treatment parallel control clinical trial. Seven hundred sixty-four stable COPD patients in group B, C and D according to GOLD 2017 will be recruited and equally divided into two parallel groups, salvational intervention (SI group) and control group (CT group). Original treatments for participants include tiotropium (18μg once q.d), budesonide/formoterol (160μg/4.5μg once or twice b.i.d) or budesonide/formoterol (160μg/4.5μg once or twice b.i.d) with tiotropium (18μg once q.d). The savational intervention for SI group is routine treatment plus budesonide/formoterol (160μg/4.5μg once b.i.d) from the first day after severe air pollution (air quality index, AQI ≥200) to the third day after AQI < 200. CT group will maintain the original treatment. The intervention will last for 2 years. Primary outcome is the frequency of AECOPD per year and the secondary outcomes include the incidence of unplanned outpatient visits, emergency visits, hospitalization, medical cost and mortality associated with AECOPD per year., Discussion: The salvational intervention is a novel strategy for COPD management under severe air pollution. Results of the present study will provide reference information to guide clinical practice in reducing the air pollution related exacerbation of COPD., Trial Registration: This study has been registered at www.ClinicalTrials.gov (registration identifier: NCT03083067 ) in 17 March, 2017.
