The article reports that MITRE Corp. in Bedford, Massachusetts has urged the aerospace and defense industry to join in formulating a standard software for cryptographic applications. It states that MITRE has submitted an Internet draft based on the 0.6 version of Common Interface to Cryptographic Modules (CICM) to the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). It adds that the proposed CICM standards will cater to the programming interface for aerospace, defense, and high-assurance applications.
