The fourth international workshop on human chromosome 15 mapping was held at the Genome Database in Baltimore, Maryland on October 28, 1997, and was attended by 31 participants from five countries. Construction of a new YAC STS-content map of the chromosome is described in the report. The first physical map of this region, developed in 1993, extended from D15S18 to D15S12 and was comprised of 22 YAC and 21 SIS with two gaps present in the contig. The Stanford radiation hybrid map contains 10 SIS of which four were novel.
