The article presents a study which examines the larval stage of six snapper species in the Straits of Florida (SOF) in western Atlantic Ocean. The study uses Genfind kit for DNA isolation, Otolith analysis, analysis of covariance (ANCOVA), and the Laird-Gompertz models to determine the larval growth of ichthyoplankton sample collected from January 2003 to December 2004. The results show that the most abundant snapper larvae were Lutjanus apodus and L. synagris, a common pattern of lunar periodicity was observed, and larvae in the west revealed a greater length at age than the larvae from the east. It adds that the overall growth curves of Ocyurus chrysurus, L. synagris, and L. analis were different between east and west sides of the SOF.
