A study conducted at King Khalid University in Abha, Saudi Arabia, explored the association between Parvovirus B19 infection and autoimmune thyroiditis (AIT) and celiac disease (CD) in pediatric patients with Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus (T1DM). Blood samples were collected from pediatric T1DM patients, and the presence of autoantibodies against thyroid and CD, as well as Parvovirus B19 antibodies, was detected. The study found a significant association between the prevalence of autoantibodies against thyroid disease and the presence of Parvovirus B19 antibodies in T1DM pediatric patients.
