Abstract

Researchers from Ningxia Medical University in China have conducted a study on the role of M2 macrophages-derived extracellular vesicles (M2-EVs) in the proliferation and inflammatory responses of chondrocytes stimulated by IL-1 beta. The study found that M2-EVs improved chondrocyte viability and colony formation, reduced inflammatory markers, and increased the expression of miR-370-3p. The upregulation of miR-370-3p in M2-EVs enhanced their protective role in chondrocytes by inhibiting the transcription of SOX11. Overall, the findings suggest that M2-EVs promote chondrocyte proliferation and suppress inflammatory responses through the miR-370-3p/SOX11 axis.
