This article seeks to contribute to the debate on the social inclusion of women from popular sectors. Recovering conceptual contributions from feminist perspectives of economics and feminist geography, we seek to reflect on different collective forms of care and reproduction of life developed by women from popular sectors. We will consider how the spatial dimension and the possibility of transforming domestic and neighborhood material spaces are put into play. The analysis is based on the results of an ethnographic research carried out with members of the Argentina Trabaja and Ellas Hacen programs in Greater Buenos Aires, Argentina. I will explore the links between spatiality and care through three axes: the generation of collaborative networks among women to solve child care; the development of collective forms of reproduction of life through the renovation and improvement of domestic and neighborhood spaces; and the production of community care spaces for children. My analysis seeks to contribute to the discussions regarding the promotion of social inclusion of women from popular sectors addressing the inequalities present in the current social organization of care in a situated way that considers the times and spatialities involved and the way in which the material spaces condition its development. This article's aim is to think and analyse the situation of those women who receive any of the social plans implemented in the last years in our country (such as Programa de Empleo Transitorio "Entre Nosotros", the Programa "Madres" and the plan Jefes y Jefas de Hogar Desocupados), in the light of theoretical arguments developed from cultural geography and specially from the so called gender geography. This discipline's contributions provide analytical perspectives to enrich the process of thinking about the gender relationships, the place occupied by the women in the society, the identities built according to the place women occupy in the social structure, and the role played by the social policy in the construction of such identities. In the analysed cases, it can be appreciated how the different places occupied by the beneficiaries of programs acquire different values and meanings, which produces a search for spaces that have a positive social valuation and that contribute to the construction of new identities. The research we present was dedicated to analyzing the social construction of meanings with regard to the official naming of "scholarship recipients" in schools in Buenos Aires. In the 1990s, scholarship programs were created in Argentina's secondary schools as a new strategy for dealing with poverty in education, based on the recognition of poverty's influence on opportunities for remaining in school. Although the program at first glance would seem to represent a step toward creating more democratic educational perspectives for underprivileged sectors, it found its limits in the meanings actors construct around scholarship recipients. The article deals with the question of the interrelation that was generated between a specific design modalities and the implementation of social policies, in the form of programs, and their macroeconomic and macrosocial context, outlined and implemented in the decade of the 1990s, under the guise of neoliberalism, and put into practice in several Latin America countries. The case study presented here was located in Argentina, and is perhaps one of the paradigmatic cases of de-structuration of the social model of accumulation based on the implementation of neoliberal prescriptions dictated by the Washington Consensus. Specifically, this text studies a national food production program, the Prohuerta Program. In the first part of the article, a brief panorama of the process that Argentina underwent is presented interrelating the neoliberal economic transformation, under the so-called Plan of Convertibility, and the deterioration of the conditions of life suffered by extensive sectors of the population, which stimulated the growth of unemployment and poverty. In the second part, and as example of the type of public intervention modality that was adopted by the national government in order to confront the consequences of economic restructuring, a specific study of the Prohuerta Program was undertaken, evaluating its performance management and results.
