In order to study the psychosocial impacts generated by the disappearance of individuals on family dynamics in Latin America, an exploratory and qualitative approach was undertaken through a review and analysis of literature and documents on the subject. To begin with, historical elements from the 1930's were revisited, primarily focusing on countries such as Mexico, Argentina, and Colombia, where a greater academic production on the topic was identified, owing to their unique political and historical processes. This approach allowed for the recovery of the historicity of the phenomenon and the identification of new actors and determinations that circumscribe human disappearance in the region today. Finally, a discussion was presented on the psychosocial impacts generated by the studied events on the dynamics of households experiencing these situations, considering psychic, economic and relational spheres. Using an analysis of the 2018 Survey on the Situation of Women in the City of Buenos Aires, this article explores the factors associated with the sociocultural norm that emphasizes the privacy and intimacy of the family. The results show that the women most likely to cleave to this norm are mainly older, with very low educational levels, not born in Argentina, and/or are unemployed or inactive. Supporting this private, intimate notion of the family is one of the obstacles to seeking containment and/or counseling when women find themselves in a violent situation, which contributes to increasing the "hidden stats" about that violence. This article suggests that it is very important to take into consideration these groups of women most likely to believe in this idea to be more effective and efficient in designing and communicating current public policies. This article inquires into the way "child abuse" has been constructed as a social problem in Argentina. The papers explores how the issue was first approached in the 1970s by a pediatric community influenced by psychoanalysis and subsequently divulged more broadly, until it became an endeavour in the hands of judicial actors that was destined to transform the way of dealing with the problem. For that purpose, the article is based on an analysis of early studies on the topic and interviews of judicial actors. These analyses suggest that the normative transformations that took place led to the removal of the "abused child" from the criminal environment, as the promoters had proposed, and also made it possible to broaden the spectrum of what could be denounced and, therefore, of what could be treated and controlled. Based on the paradigm of active employment policies, this program Illustrates a new form of management and state regulation regarding the problematic question of employment among the poorer sectors of the population. On July 2010, in Argentina, a law that modified the Civil Code extending the recognition of the institution of marriage to same-sex couples was passed. The social-political context of discussion of the law was marked by an intense social mobilization. In this context, socially shared meanings, were brought to the forefront in a dispute that, on one hand, generates stress between different interpretations that are translated into direct practices which try to influence the legislators' positions about the rejection or approval of the law and, on the other hand, makes visible the complex interweave the religious and the political acquire on the field of sexuality. In this presentation, we approach the mobilization in opposition to the law which focused its position in the "defence of the family". In Misiones province -northeast of Argentina- during the 90`s the yerba mate `s crisis caused a migration of rural settlers, including farmers and agricultural workers with rural residence, to the periphery of intermediate cities in the province. In these new territories, where most population depend on temporary work in the yerba mate harvest - tarefa - and construction-related occupations, there are several family transformatios. In the present study María Luz Roa aims to understand the impact of urbanization on the forms of tareferos `s family organizations. For its development, the author constructs a family typology that includes a static and dynamic criterium. In this regard, she observes an important diversification of family types and a substantial acceleration in intra-family dynamics types that raises questions related to the family postmodernization thesis. To assess these processes, she adopts a triangular approach, combining data from an inquest of peri-urban households in Oberá city and qualitative information from ethnographic fieldworks. The aim of this paper is to share some similarities about what children and young people obtain from work and school. The main protagonists in the research are children and young people who try to cope with two activities: school learning and work. The objective of this paper is two-fold: on the one hand, to make visible child and adolescent work in our region, since there is not a symbolic or social recognition of it, neither from the school sector nor from people in general and, on the other hand, to show that the school/work relation is a complex one: working children have to deal with different situations in order to keep up schooling: absences, late arrivals, tiredness, temporary desertion, promotion failure, lack of time to study and do homework. This article analyzes and explains the interpretive framework that the Homosexual Liberation Front of Argentina (FLH, 1971-1976) constructed regarding (homo)sexuality, the family, and the politics of liberation through the articulation of "psi knowledge" with a contestatory discursive field. Through the analysis of its publications (the journal Somos and the document Sexo y Revolución), it is possible to observe the intricate conceptual triangle composed by these three notions and by which the FLH understood that, to obtain a liberation capable of inverting the stigma attached to homosexuality, the death of the family was imperative. The article presents an analysis of the political and economic factors, as well as the federal support, of the developing sugar industry and the resulting economic elite in Tucumán, Argentina, from 1850 to 1900. Specific attention is paid to the cases of businessman and politician Wenceslao Posse, whose development of an agricultural sugar business was a small part in a larger set of investments by his family, and the Nougués family, whose investment in the sugar industry eventually led to consistent earnings in stock of other companies. The internal organization of each company, as well as the economic risks and priorities of each family and the federal government's support of the sugar industry's restructuring, are also discussed.

The article explores childhood, development, knowledge and socialization among boys and girls in Argentina. It examines the various contexts of child development that have influenced the growth of children from six to eight years old. It focuses on the approach to the complex universe of childhood as well as on the characterization of children based on various theoretical and methodological views. It also highlights the influence of education and media on the development and the subjective constitution of children of middle classes from big cities.

This article discusses the changes in social conditions related to sexual morals in Buenos Aires, Argentina in the 1960s and 1970s. It examines the public treatment of sexuality, virginity, and sexual relations between people who are unmarried. The author analyzes the elements of a social revolution present in these changes through an examination of prior gender studies and cultural historical resources. Interpretations of sexual behavior as part of a marriage, as an expression of love, or part of a flirtation in Argentinian society during this time period are also explored.

This article discusses the impact of the Argentine movement for independence on the elite classes of the Tucumán province, specifically the Posse family. It examines the family's history, including its immigration to the region from Spain at the end of the 18th century and its rise to prominence through profitable commercial enterprises. The author studies the ways in which the family used their financial resources to survive through the revolutionary period of independence in the early 19th century, including its use of loans in support of the army.

In this paper we consider tensions and meanings regarding the education of children, produced by those adults who are closely related to them in every-day life (mainly parents and teachers). The empirical referents come from an ethnographic research, in which we carried out in-depth interviews and participant observation in a neighborhood located in the south area of Buenos Aires City. Thus, we interpret the meanings and representations constructed around the "educated person", high-lightening the importance given to education by families -mostly associated to schooling by them-. We also consider some meanings constructed by teachers, relating them with the former. We analyze as well the ways in which these meanings articulate with processes of selection of schools and with different ways of assessing schooling, considering them social practices intrinsically linked to those representations. This allows us to make visible the valorizations, evaluations and tensions related to dimensions of social life that include but also exceed the subjects directly involved in them. This way, we point out diverse and complex articulations between the dimensions of human agency and the structural limitations of a certain social-historical context. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

During last years as much in the frame of the celebration of the 100 years public festivities of both most important cities located in the Gulf San Jorge basin (Comodoro Rivadavia and Caleta Olivia) as in the most recent commemoration of the centenary of the discovery of the oil in the zone, women appropriated diverse uses of the past to ask for the right to have a past. Beyond the public festivities which were arranged from the official sphere, the petroleum companies or the mass media, an important group of women organized different commemoration practices; the publication of books and photographic samples stood out among them. It has allowed a fruitful exchange among people who are in the academy and out of it. In the paper I try to show that this memoralist outbreak in terms of gender, having revalued topics such as the child-rearing, the family care, the informal sociability puts the emphasis on the domesticity and the exaltation of the kinship networks to emphasize the rol of women in that past. As the cult of motherhood represented social inclusion for these women, in this work I suggest that it is again the articulation of women - maternity - family - history - nation what returns to center stage, but those who promote such social commemoration practices have created places of memory in the center of the sphere of production: places where the men had dominated historically. This article deals with one the so many facets of American colonial history, the domestic violence that recovers interest at present, perhaps, and very to our grief because it is a conduct that still lasts in many contexts of the today societies. Through analysis of criminal judgments in which the women were victims of masculine violence, it is considered on the gender asymmetry in a peripheral city in the last years of the colony. Beyond the obvious contributions to the discussion of historiography, I believe that other dimensions can be included in the study of Argentinean immigration, since one objection is that these contributions often consider the possibility of ties while neglecting direct social relationships. Therefore, I analyze the immigration process from the point of view of institutions, family, and legal cultures, which implies the consideration of the immigration experience as the activation of a series of interpersonal ties that necessarily includes relationships created in the host country. The objective is to compare the three perspectives, before going on to test and compare the theoretical findings in the field. We propose a study of children's education and schooling through a focus on relations, including the intervention of social actors outside of school. Studies on educational trajectories frequently define the school experience in restricted and non-relational terms; i.e., registering only the "entries" and "exits" of children and young people with regard to formal schooling, or turning to schedules as if they involved only the children, and very rarely the school and family. This study analyzes from an ethnographic perspective the way school trajectories, crisscrossed by relations of inequality, are influenced by significant actors and places in the daily interactions of children's families in the suburbs of greater Buenos Aires. For the Argentinian case, social sciences have collected an amount of elements that, gathered in a scientific speech, "proved" the rise of a particular type of family. During most part of Modernity, the productive work world has been over-valuated and separated from the non-productive work world. In that model of family, this prestigious public space was kept aside from women, whose duty was to remain inside domestic space as mothers and wives. The image construction of subjects and families to themselves is made through a narration. Both worlds of life and tale meet conforming a fiction. We say that it is a fictional narration, not because it is false, but because of the amount of creativity and the selection that memory tales have. In this article, we look for those elements of the model in which family memory rests, to re-build its biography and analyze the tensions that emerge when we confront it with practices that are distant from it. Studies about property rights have only recently started to attract the attention of economic historians in Argentina. In this paper, focusing upon normative aspects, it is our purpose to analyze changes and continuities produced within legal conceptions concerning the rights of property, family and heritage rights by the second half of the 19th century. Debates and speeches from politicians, lawyers, and owners, will be analyzed, as well as the expression they found in two key works: the Rural Code of the Province of Buenos Aires, from 1865, and the Civil Code from 1869 (promulgated in 1871), which stated -with different shades of meaning- private property as absolute, individual and inalienable. The balance between continuity/break up of conceptions and speeches posed from the law field will also allow to analyze its impact and projection over the configuration of the Argentinian society during the 20th century. The paper studies patterns of family and kinship in the rural areas of the province of Buenos Aires in the 19* century . It intends, to approach to the role of women in the transmission of kinship networks and that of kin as a frame of material and emotional protection in a context of intense male mobility and proliferation of matrifocal households. Within the Law, it is possible make a difference between subjective rights (individual's faculty) and objective rights (society's order). The Law is not exclusively one or the other; but rather an order which connects both parts. This mechanism shows difficulties because the movement makes them part of a complex and delicate system. This paper attempts to observe this mechanism working; to understand the construction of this order as part of the new needs of certain groups and see how they take shape giving birth to a new conception of family and inheritance during the first half of XIX century. This paper is an enquiry into the strategies for access to land displayed by the Russo family, rural producers who, by the end of the nineteenth Century settled as cattle tenants on southern areas of the Territorio Nacional de La Pampa. Through the analysis of sources belonging to the private archive of the family and other public documents, we reconstructed different moments in the life of the Russos, marked by the strategies carried through to economically settle themselves and maximize opportunities by combining tenancy-property, stability factors and the scale of tenancy. In diverse areas for two generations. This case study, focused upon the family and located in a zone with characteristics that differ from those sketched in the bulk of dominant historiography, allows to shed light on issues concerning the access to land by pampean rural producers at the end of the nineteenth Century and the first decade of the twentieth, and thus, discuss some traditional postulates, besides from establishing the existence of regional variations. The aim of this article is to offer elements of analysis about the legal medical-legal discourse application in two wealthy women's cases at the end of XIX and at the beginning of XX century, that allow the comparison of the female possibilities in relation to the possession's administration. In view of the right's lack, action made as of civil trial on supposed madness by respective families male; both women tried to argue using in their favor the psychiatric diagnostic's contradictions or denying to carry out the psychiatric testing. The legal sources, inedited expedient of insanity, allow us accede to the complex legal processes which insert in the process of gender subordination and about the certain women of upper class possibilities to drive in Argentina, in a former stage to twenty years civil legislation sanction. Our purpose in this essay is to summarize the main conclusions we have arrived to in the last years, about inheritance, patrimony and family in the Argentinian pampas. Ruptures and continuities produced in patrimony transmission practices and in familiar reproduction modes developed in Argentinian pampas between the ninenteenth and twentieth centuries will be analyzed. This analysis is carried out giving priority to aspects such as: the normative context, the relationship between norm and practice, the coexistence of different juridical cultures, the land and changes concerning its meanings, the patrimony and the market, and the role of local institutions in familiar reproduction.
