The article discusses Syriac Christian inscriptions found in Syria, with focus given to those collected during epigraphic studies conducted by the authors in and around Antioch, Turkey, and Syria's Jabal Barisha mountains in 2006 and 2007. The authors begin by explaining the antiquity of the inscriptions, noting that the oldest dates to 433-434 CE (482 Antiochian era), and go on to detail the use of both Syriac and Greek in the inscriptions. Other topics addressed include different engraving methods for the inscriptions, discussions of the Holy Trinity in the inscriptions, and the civil nature of some inscriptions.
