The article discusses the results of research on trends in conservation threats for Antarctica, including environmental disturbances and resource demands as of July 2012. Topics include how ocean acidification and regional warming present threats to Antarctic species and ecosystems, how climate change can facilitate the introduction of nonindigenous species, and how increases in tourism correlate with rises in pollution. Additional information is presented on policies restricting the exploitation of Antarctica's mineral resources.
