TIME - Abstract
The article analyzes the differences in verbal forms of posteriority between Peninsular Spanish and Mexican variety. It highlights the lack of attention to these differences in linguistic studies and emphasizes the importance of investigating dialectal preferences in the verbal system. The book reviewed in the article focuses on the analysis of the expression of futurity in Spanish from Spain and Mexico, and seeks to verify the idea that the replacement of synthetic tenses with periphrastic construction is faster and more visible in Spanish from America. The text analyzes the use of periphrases with "ir a + infinitive" in Spanish from Spain and Mexico, focusing on their use to express posteriority. It is concluded that there is no clear predominance of any particular form in either variety, and that the behavior of both varieties is stable over time. Additionally, the importance of considering diatopic, diastratic, diaphasic, and diachronic factors in the study of this topic is highlighted. [Extracted from the article]
