Olea europaea L. 1753, is one of the oldest and most distinctive trees in the Mediterranean region. Its nutritional, social, cultural, and economic value is very important for populations in arid regions, where it is widely distributed. A sign of a sustainable environment in many agricultural regions is the existence of a wide variety and abundance of arthropod groups. The main objective of the study is to evaluate the diversity of arthropods subservientin in olive agro-systems in the arid region by using several sampling techniques, namely classic sight hunting, visual inspection, Barber pots, and yellow traps. The inventory is carried out over a period of 5 months, from February to June 2023, in three stations in M’Sila (northeastern Algeria). Three classes of arthropods were found: Insecta, Arachnida, and Malacostraca. Captures were numerically dominated by Insecta, representing 96.88% of total captures. Arachnida and Malacostraca classes represented about 2.74 and 0.38%, respectively. During this research, a total of 1861 arthropod individuals were collected and identified into 83 species, 79 genera, 53 families, and 15 orders. The most abundant orders were: Diptera (42.56%), Hymenoptera (28.11%), and Coleoptera (7.32%). However, we found a significant difference in species composition according to habitat (P < 0.01). The species were determined, and the ecological indices were calculated (Shannon Value, Evenness values and Simpson reciprocal index). The dominant functional feeding groups were phytophages (41.91 %), predators (32.94%), and polyphages (22.14%). The arthropods included several olive pests such as Euphyllura olivina (Costa) (Hemiptera: Liviidae), Bactrocera oleae (Rossi) (Diptera: Tephritidae), Prays oleae (Bernard) (Lepidoptera: Praydidae), Liothrips oleae Costa (Thysanoptera: Phlaeothripidae), and Oxycenus maxwelli (Keifer) (Arachnida: Eriophyidae). This study aims to collect data on medicinal plants collected from Senalba Chergui forest (Djelfa, Algeria) and used in traditional medicine by the local population. An ethnobotanical survey was carried out with 107 informants through direct interviews using a structured questionnaire. The results showed that women (71%) use medicinal plants more than men, older people have more information than the young. Furthermore, the vast majority of users of medicinal plants are illiterate. 32 species belonging to 21 families and 27 genera are identified. The most used plants are Herniaria hirsuta L (93%), Juniperus phoenicea L (87%), Pistacia lentiscus L (86%), Teucrium polium L (80%), Stipa tenacissima L (79%), Pinus halepensis Mill (78%). %), Thymus algeriensis Boiss. et Reult (73%), Artemisia herba-alba Asso (72%), Quercus ilex subsp. Ballota (Desf.) Samp (72%), Juniperus oxycedrus subsp. Rufescens (Link) Deb (64%), Rosmarinus officinalis L (63%), Stipa parviflora Desf (61%), Pistacia terebinthus L (60%) and Rosmarinus tournefortii de Noé (50%). The Lamiaceae and Asteraceae families were dominant the most often, we emphasize that the leaves were the most used (53.13%). The results show that decoction (59.38%) was the most commonly used method to prepare remedies. It appears that gastrointestinal diseases were the most often treated mainly orally. Ancient people sought out drugs in nature to prevent, cure, and treat their diseases, including mental illnesses. Plants were their primary source for meeting their healthcare needs. In Algeria, folk medicine remains a fundamental part of the local intangible knowledge. This study aims to conduct a comprehensive ethnomedicinal investigation and documentation of medicinal plants and the different plant formulations traditionally used in Algeria for the treatment of pain, psychiatric, and neurological disorders. It also intends to improve the current knowledge of Algerian folk medicine. Several scientific databases were used to accomplish this work. Based on this investigation, we identified 82 plant species belonging to 69 genera and spanning 38 distinct botanical families used as remedies to treat various psychological and neurological conditions. Their traditional uses and methods of preparation, along with their phytochemical composition, main bioactive constituents, and toxicity were noted. Therefore, this review provides a new resource of information on Algerian medicinal plants used in the treatment and management of neurological and psychological diseases, which can be useful not only for the documentation and conservation of traditional knowledge, but also for conducting future phytochemical and pharmacological studies. THIS study aimed to document and analyze the traditional and ethnobotanical knowledge of the medicinal plants used in the treatment of gastrointestinal diseases. These group of diseases is one of the most prevalent diseases in human societies and causing significant health trouble. The data were collected over a period of two years (2017-2019) in the state of Chlef through questionnaires and interviews of the local population. In total, 74 informants from rural populations were interviewed in different regions. The surveys allowed for the collection of sociodemographic data and traditional knowledge about medicinal plants and their use to treat gastrointestinal diseases. The results showed that 33 plant species belonging to 22 families were widely used by the local population in the treatment of various gastrointestinal disease. Lamiaceae was the most used family (27.3%). Among all species, leaves were the most used part (50%), and decoction was the most recommended (51.4%) preparation form. In addition, stomach aches, colon problems, stomach ulcers, diarrhea, flatulence, hemorrhoids, and constipation were respectively the most treated diseases. Overall, Myrtus communis L. and Tetraclinis articulata (Vahl) Mast., were the common species used by the local population throughout the study area. The present study presents a baseline information on the local medicinal plants that used in the treatment of gastrointestinal disease in Chlef, Algeria, Further chemical, and pharmacological studies to validate this information are needed. An ethnobotanical survey of plants used for the treatment of gastrointestinal disorders was carried out in the region of Setifian High Plateau, Algeria. Information on the names of plants, used parts and methods of preparation was obtained from traditional medical practitioners, herbalist, hawkers in traditional medicines and rural dwellers, using semi-structured questionnaire. In studied region 50 plants belonging to 29 families (Table 1) were found to be used against gastrointestinal ailments. Most dominant family used against gastrointestinal complaints was Lamiaceae (8 plants) followed by Apiaceae (7 plants) and Myrtaceae, Asteraceae, Poaceae and Fabaceae (3 plants each). The rest are represented by one plant each (23 families). Among all parts of a plant, medicinal property is mainly found in the leaves (36%), followed by seeds (22%), aerial parts (14), fruits (12%), roots (6%), flowers 6%) and bulbs (4%). Also, it was determined that gastrointestinal system ailments for which the folk medicinal plants are mostly used, are as follows: constipation, diarrhea, gastritis and ulcer, intestinal winds, nausea, gastralgia and indigestion. Most of the herbal recipes were taken orally in decoction or infusion form with water, salt, and sugar. Southwest Algeria has a significant but little studied biodiversity, closely associated with a diverse cultural heritage. Medicinal plants are commonly used by the local population as traditional therapeutic treatments. This study was carried out with the aim of inventorying the spontaneous species used by the populations of the Ain Sefra region (south-western Algeria) and to gather information on the ancestral know-how of the local populations in terms of therapeutic use. The ethno-botanical survey was carried out using a semi-structured questionnaire among local herbalists practising in the study area. The data collected was analysed using quantitative indices such as species use value (UV), informant consensus factor (FIC) and fidelity level (FL). The results showed that 48 spontaneous medicinal plants were recognised and identified as medicinal species. These plants belonged to 28 families, of which the families Asteraceae and Lamiaceae are the most represented with 18% and 12% respectively. The leaves are the most used parts for medicinal purposes with decoction being the most used mode. Thus according to the (UV) Juniperus thurifera L. and Cotula cinerea Delile are the most used. Thus Artemisia herb alba Asso had the highest level of fidelity (100%) for the treatment of gastrointestinal diseases. In conclusion, this study revealed that the local population of the Ain Sefra region has a strong ethnobotanical knowledge and still uses local spontaneous medicinal species to treat several diseases. This study aims to know the different uses of medicinal plants collected for medicinal purposes by the local people of Bousaada (Msila province, Algeria). Semi-structured interview questionnaires were used to collect and provide significant ethnobotanical information on the plants used. The most widely used plants by the local population in the traditional medicine are mainly Artemisia herba-alba, and Juniperus oxycedrus. A total of 534 person were interviewed, most are women over 60 years old, with a middle level of education, the most frequently used parts of plants for the treatment, was leaves (33%) followed by seeds and fruits, the infusion (23%), followed by decoction (20%), were represent to be used more, while, the most treated disease was gastrointestinal disorders with a rate of 31.2%. Our study provided an opportunity to access and know about the traditional uses of the inhabitants of Boussaâda, and showed that in the Bousaada the folk use of plants still derives from daily practice. An ethnobotanical survey was conducted in Emdjez Edchich, Dakkich Rabeh, Sefisfa and Ali Hzila Ramdan of central Russikada province in northeastern Algeria to document the traditional knowledge on medicinal plants used by local populations. Data were analyzed using quantitative indices of sociodemographic data, fidelity level (FL), informant consensus factor (ICF) and use value (UV). A total of 280 participants were interviewed, most of whom were women between the ages of 20 and 40, with a medium level of education. The floristic analysis identified 73 taxa belonging to 43 botanical families, dominated by Lamiaceae and Apiaceae. Gastro-intestinal disease was the most treated and leaves were the most often used in traditional remedies prepared as tea infusions. The highest UV was observed for lentisk (Pistacia lentiscus, UV = 3.4); the highest value for FL was for 54 taxa, of which, 16 were used to treat gastro-intestinal diseases. The calculated ICF showed auditory infections, antiseptics, ocular infections, and neurological disease treatments. Thirty-five new species with 67 new therapeutic uses were identified. A floristic, ethnobotanical and natural habitat study was carried out in the wetlands of the Macta marshes in northwest Algeria. The specimens obtained made it possible to identify 89 taxa of plants belonging to 32 botanical families dominated by the Amaranthaceae and Asteraceae. Analysis of the chorology of the plants has shown dominance of the Mediterranean element, but only 3 endemic taxa are recognized. Five of the taxa are considered rare and 4 are protected in Algeria; 5 have an IUCN status of minor consideration and Spergularia doumerguei P. Monnier has the status of vulnerable. Analysis of local plant communities has shown the existence of 6 plant groups within 3 types of natural habitats that have been mapped. The accumulating ability of the atmospheric Metal Trace Elements (MTE) of two lichenic species thalli; Xanthoria parietina and Ramalina farinacea were evaluated in the region of Megres. The recorded concentrations of MTE (Fe, Cu, Mn, Cd, and Pb) were determined by atomic absorption spectrophotometry (AASF). The ability to accumulate MTE in X. parietina thalli is considerably greater than that of the fruticulous lichen R. farinacea in all stations studied. The general pattern of the elements accumulated in the thalli of the two species in decreasing order of their concentrations was Fe> Mn> Pb> Cu> Cd. The Fe values are very high in X. parietina thalli with an average of 35237.5 ± 3394.2 mg/kg dry wt. In contrast, the Pb concentrations are high, especially in the southern station of the Megres region. The results showed that X. parietina is a hyper-accumulating species of MTE, compared to R. farinacea. Background: Paronychia argentea has been used since long as a traditional medicine for the treatment of diabetes, kidney stones, anti-microbial and many other human diseases. However, the plant has not been explored much. In the present scenario of drug resistance and toxicity associated with available drugs, there is a need for elaborated studies of plants like Paronychia argeneta which had been used as folk medicines. Aim and Objectives: The present article is focused on reviewing the ethnopharmacology, phytochemistry, traditional usage, biological activities, of Paronychia argentea which has been used in traditional medicinal system for ages. The aim of the study was to assess the ethnopharmacological usage of this plant and to explore therapeutic potentials and future opportunities for research. Materials and Methods: Information on the traditional usage and studies of the Paronychia argentea was gathered from from various journals, MSc dissertation, conference abstract, local books. Various search engines including Google Scholar, Baidu Scholar, Elsevier, ACS, Pubmed, Web of Science, CNKI and EMBASE were used to collect the information along with libraries. Results: Paronychia argentea has played an important role in traditional medicines in Algeria, Portugal, Israel and Jordan. The aerial parts of this plant are used as diuretics in Algerian traditional medicines and are used as antiurolithiasis. Leaf decoction of this plant is also used as diuretic. Paronychia argentea has been used as analgesic, treatment of stomach ulcer, anorexia, and flatulence in Portugal. Scientific studies on extracts of Paronychia revealed a wide range of pharmacological activities including anti-microbial activity, anti-oxidant, nephroprotective activity. Moreover, few reports have given contradictory data for usage of Paronychia when compared with its traditional usage. As in the case of alpha-amylase inhibitory efficacy of PA, it was observed that PA inhibits alpha-amylase activity but later on it was proven that PA does not have a hypoglycemic effect. Main bioactive metabolites present in this plant include alkaloids, flavonoids, volatile oils, etc. Conclusions: Based on this review, there are evidences from various studies regarding pharmacological effects of this plant as nephroprotective, anti-oxidant, anti-microbial activity. Some indications from in vitro studies have confirmed the inhibitory activity of this plant extract against alpha amylase enzyme. The available literature showed that most of the activities of the Paronychia can be accredited to the flavonoids present in them. Data regarding mechanisms of action of this plant along with pharmacokinetics, toxicology studies is still limited, which indicate the need of such studies for the clinical usage of this plant. Introduction: The present study falls within the framework of valorization of medical plants and traditional knowledge's in the Northeastern part of Dahra Mountain, Algeria. Methods: An ethnobotanical survey was conducted between 2016 and 2018 in order to study the traditional and therapeutic use of medical plants amongst the local population. Data collected was analyzed using quantitative indices such as the fidelity level (FL) and Informant Consensus Factor (FIC). Results: The results revealed 70 medicinal species belonging to 38 botanical families, among which, five families were the most commonly used by the local population, especially the families Lamiaceae and Asteraceae. In term of species, the highest frequencies of medicinal use were shown respectively by Tetraclinis articulata (Vahl) Mast. (6.49%), Pistacia lentiscus L. (6.11%), Myrtus communis L. (5.34%) and Thymus vulgaris L. (4.96%). Among the various parts of the plant, leaves were the most used part and decoction was the most frequent form of use. Finally, the gastro-intestinal system disorders were the most treated diseases with a percentage of 28.24%. Conclusion: This first ethnobotanical study conducted in the region of Bissa revealed a very rich local knowledge in term of traditional herbal medicine; this fact was reflected by the high diversity of species used in the treatment of several diseases. In light of this, it is therefore very important to subject some of the major species to further phytochemical and pharmacological studies in order to validate their traditional use and to probably discover new bioactive molecules.
