A recent study conducted at Shahid Chamran University Ahvaz in Iran explored the anti-thyroid properties of methimazole and its derivatives. The researchers investigated the iodine adsorption capacity and anti-thyroid activity of six methimazole-based bidentate ligands. The compounds showed a remarkable ability to adsorb iodine, making them potential candidates for new anti-thyroid drugs. The study also suggested that these compounds could be used in the design of novel materials for iodine uptake purposes.
