A comparative pollen (LM & SEM) study of 14 Jatropha species from India, America and Africa representing both the sub-genera Jatropha and Curcas and various sections is presented. The taxonomic value of sporoderm features such as variation in the "crotonoid pattern". Size shape, ornamentation types and density of clava/pila processes their ornamentation presence or absence of free processes in lumina and their number, details of brochi and muri in the species is pres ented.
