The article presents the author's insights related to Sub-Saharan Africa. Topics discussed include her experience working as forestry agent at the National Park Service who is in charge of the distribution and protection of the forest, an interpretative program which focuses on the issue of deforestation in the Fouta, a area of the Sahel desert in the northern region of Senegal, and the loss of culture in the region, as well as the association of people to the earth, due to deforestation.
