The article examines economic conditions in Kabul, Afghanistan. It references the article "Kabubble" by Matthieu Aikins, which appeared in the February 2013 issue of "Harper's" magazine. According to Aikins, the city is in danger of economic collapse upon the withdrawal of foreign aid unless it develops an independent economic policy which maximizes its own strengths rather than relying on foreign investments. It is suggested that most of the wealth from foreign aid has gone to high-ranking businessmen and contractors and has been exported from the country to places such as Dubai, Pakistan, and Switzerland. Details on possible exports the city could cultivate, such as raisins and saffron, are presented.
