This article explores the political representation of women following the Afghan and Iraq wars. It highlights the creation of constitutions that include the mandated participation of women in the political system. It explores the growth of women's rights following the inclusion of women as members of the legislative bodies. In addition, the article discusses the efforts of the United Nations (UN) to promote women's political representation. The influence of international norms on the adoption of gender quotas in the two countries is noted.
