The article presents information on the project called Christie Walk, an ecocity project, in the city of Adelaide, South Australia. Construction of the project started in December 1999 in the memory of environmental and social activist Scott Christie. Through voluntary efforts of many people including, overseas and interstate visitors and their long-term donations in terms of time, energy, and money, the project is expected to complete in October 2006. The project was developed by a private cooperative, Wirranendi Inc., and incorporates medium-density community housing linked to three-storey town houses, a three-storey block of six apartments, a stand alone three-storey cottages, a five-storey building with 13 apartments and various community facilities.
