A multifunctional fluorescent sensor Zn-MOF was successfully prepared by hydrothermal reaction, Zn2+ as node, 1,3,5-tris(1-imidazolyl)-benzene (L) and chiral ligands D(+)-camphoric acid (D-H 2 cam) as linkers. The study of fluorescence properties revealed that it was a multifunctional fluorescence sensor could not only be used to distinguish for HSO 4 −, but also could be used to detect acidic amino acids (Glu, Asp) and relay determination for basic amino acids (Arg, Lys). A novel lanthanum cadmium complex [LaCd(bpy)4(NO3)5] (where bpy = 2,2′-Bipyridine) has been synthesized and structurally characterized by X-ray diffraction method, elemental analysis, spectral method (IR), powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), electronic spectra (UV–vis) and photoluminescence properties. The complex crystallizes in the monoclinic space groupP21/cwith unit cell parametersa= 16.883(2) Å,b= 14.382(2) Å,c= 18.981(3) Å,β= 96.806(2),V= 4576.5(11) Å3, andZ= 4. The complex is completed by two crystallographically and chemically independent, octahedrally coordinated Cd(II) ion and icosahedronly coordinated La(III) ion. The established tradition of consuming and marketing wild mushrooms has focused attention on mycotoxicity, which has become a global issue. In the present study, we describe the toxins found in a previously unknown poisonous European mushroom Tricholoma terreum. Fifteen new triterpenoids terreolides A-F ( 1- 6) and saponaceolides H-P ( 8- 16) were isolated from the fruiting bodies of the toxic mushroom T. terreum. Terreolides A-C ( 1- 3) possessed a unique 5/6/7 trioxaspiroketal system, whereas terreolides D-F ( 4- 6) possessed an unprecedented carbon skeleton. Two abundant compounds in the mushroom, saponaceolide B ( 7) and saponaceolide M ( 13), displayed acute toxicity, with LD50 values of 88.3 and 63.7 mg kg−1 when administered orally in mice. Both compounds were found to increase serum creatine kinase levels in mice, indicating that T. terreum may be the cause of mushroom poisoning ultimately leading to rhabdomyolysis. A supramolecular CoIIcomplex, [CoL(H2O)2], bearing Salen-type bisoxime chelate ligand 4,4′,6,6′-tetrachloro-2,2′-[ethylenedioxybis(nitrilomethylidyne)]diphenol (H2L), has been synthesized and structurally characterized by elemental analyses, IR spectra, UV–vis spectra, and X-ray diffraction techniques. The crystal structure of [CoL(H2O)2] indicates that the CoIIcomplex consists of one CoIIatom, one L2–unit, and two coordinated water molecules. The CoIIcomplex exhibits slightly distorted octahedral geometry with the Salen-type bisoxime ligand forming the basal N2O2coordination plane and two oxygen atoms from the coordinated water molecules in the axial positions. An infinite 1D metal–water chain and 2D supramolecular network structure were formed by intermolecular O-H···O, O-H···Cl, and C-H···O hydrogen bonding and π-π stacking interactions. Two nickel(II) complexes, namely {[NiL(MeOH)(μ-OAc)]2Ni} ·2CH2Cl2 ·2MeOH ( 1) and {[NiL(EtOH)(μ-OAc)]2Ni} ·2EtOH ( 2) {H2L = 5, 5′-dimethoxy-2, 2′-[(ethylene)dioxybis(nitrilomethylidyne)]diphenol}, were synthesized and structurally characterized. Two trinuclear NiII complexes are both hexacoordinate around the central NiII atoms, showing octahedral coordination arrangements, and each complex comprises three divalent NiII atoms, two deprotonated L2- ligands, in which four μ-phenoxo oxygen atoms forming two [NiL( X)] ( X = MeOH or EtOH) units, and coordinated and non-coordinated solvent molecules. An unprecedented dinuclear copper(II) complex, [Cu2(L2)2] (H2L2 = 3-Methoxysalicylaldehyde O-(2-hydroxyethyl)oxime), has been synthesized via the complexation of copper(II) acetate monohydrate with unsymmetrical Salen-type ligand H2L1 (H2L1 = 3-Methoxy-2,2′-[ethylenedioxybis(nitrilomethylidyne)]diphenol). The crystal structure of the copper(II) complex has been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction method. The catalysis of copper(II) ions results in the unexpected cleavage of one of the N˭O bonds in the ligand H2L1, giving a novel dialkoxo-bridged dinuclear copper(II) complex possessing a Cu˭O˭Cu˭O four-membered ring core instead of the usually desired Salen-type bisoxime Cu˭N2O2 mononuclear complex. From 2007 to 2008, many bronze wares of Qin Dynasty were excavated from tombs at Xinfeng town. Being an important finding, these bronze wares attracted people's attention, especially for their conservation. Therefore, the corrosive products were explored by using Scanning ElectronMicroscope with Energy Dispersive X-ray Detector (SEM/EDS), X-Ray diffraction (XRD), and Raman spectroscopy (RM), which provided much valuable information on the conservation of these bronze wares. According to tested results, the corrosive products of bronzes were found to be comprised of cuprite (Cu2O), covellite (CuS), lead carbonate (PbCO3), and malachite (CuCO3.Cu(OH)2). Meantime, the multilayer corrosive structure was found in some samples due to the cracks in Cu2O layer which had formed many microchannels to promote the material migration. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A new Co(II) cluster, {[CoL(DMF)]2(OAc)2Co}·2DMF (H2L = 4,4'-dichloro-2,2'-[(1,3-propylene)dioxybis (nitrilomethylidyne)]diphenol), has been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectrum, UV-Vis spectrum, and X-ray diffraction method. The results indicate that the Co(II) cluster consists of three Co(II) ions, two tetradentate (μ-L)2- units, two coordinated μ-acetate ions, two coordinated DMF, and two crystallizing DMF molecules. All the hexa-coordinated Co(II) ions of the Co(II) cluster have a slightly distorted octahedral geometry. The crystal packing of the Co(II) cluster shows that a notable feature of this structure resides in the formation of a novel 2D supramolecular structure through intermolecular C-H···O interaction and weak intramolecular C-H···(Ph) interaction along the b-axes. Abstract: Four supramolecular complexes [MnL1(H2O)2] (1), {[CoL2(OAc)(H2O)]2Co}·5CH3CH2OH (2), {[NiL3(OAc)(CH3OH)]2Ni}·2CH3COCH3·2CH3OH (3) and {[ZnL2(OAc)]2Zn}·CHCl3 (4), have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, IR, UV–Vis spectra and X-ray diffraction techniques. All the complexes have the trinuclear configuration except for MnII complex being mononuclear configuration. Every trinuclear complex contains two acetate ions coordinate to the three metal ions via a familiar M–O–C–O–M (M=Co, Ni, Zn) coordinated mode. Although complexes 1 and 3 display 1D supramolecular chains, the different coordination environments (mononuclear in 1, trinuclear in 3) provoke divergence in the structures and aggregations of the chain subunits. Complex 2 forms a 3D hydrogen-bonding supramolecular networks possessing a channel composing of six O–H···O hydrogen bonds, while complex 4 exhibits a 2D hydrogen-bonding supramolecular networks with the formation of “grottos” occupied by chloroform molecules through intermolecular hydrogen-bond interactions. Abstract  A novel chelating bisoxime ligand, 4,4′-dichloro-2,2′-[(1,3-propylene)dioxybis(nitrilomethylidyne)]diphenol (H2L), and its corresponding trinuclear Co(II) cluster {[CoL(C2H5OH)]2(OAc)2Co} · 2C2H5OH (1) have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, IR, 1H NMR, TG-DTA and X-ray diffraction methods. The intertwined charge, spin, orbital, and lattice degrees of freedom could endow 5d compounds with exotic properties. Current interest is focused on electromagnetic interactions in these materials, whereas the important role of lattice geometry remains to be fully recognized. For this sake, we investigate pressure-induced phase transitions in the spin-orbit Mott insulator Sr3Ir2O7 with Raman, electrical resistance, and x-ray diffraction measurements. We reveal an interesting magnetic transition coinciding with a structural transition at 14.4 GPa, but without a concurrent insulator-metal transition. The conventional correlation between magnetic and Mott insulating states is thereby absent. The observed softening of the one-magnon mode can be explained by a reduced tetragonal distortion, while the actual magnetic transition is associated with tilting of the IrO6 octahedra. This work highlights the critical role of lattice frustration in determining the high-pressure phases of Sr3Ir2O7. The ability to control electromagnetic properties via manipulating the crystal structure with pressure promises a new way to explore new quantum states in spin-orbit Mott insulators. Abstract: Two solvent-induced trinuclear nickel(II) clusters, [{NiL(CH3OH)}2(OAc)2Ni]·2CH3OH (I) and [{NiL(C2H5OH)}2(OAc)2Ni]·2C2H5OH (II), have been synthesized by the reaction of a new Salen-type bisoxime chelating ligand of 5,5′-di(N,N′-diethylamino)-2,2′-[(1,3-propylene)dioxybis(nitrilomethylidyne)]diphenol (H2L) with nickel(II) acetate tetrahydrate in different solvents. Clusters I and II were characterized by elemental analyses, IR spectra, UV–vis absorption spectra, TG–DTA and X-ray diffraction methods. In clusters I (or II), there are two ligand moieties (which provide N2O2 donors), two acetate ions, two coordinated methanol (or ethanol) molecules and two crystallizing methanol (or ethanol) molecules, which result in the formation of three slightly distorted octahedral geometries around Ni(II) ions. Interestingly, nickel(II) ions in the structures of clusters I and II are all six-coordinated geometry, but clusters I and II are grown up in different solvent. In this paper, to further promote the photocatalytic performance of BiPO 4 , BiOBr was employed to couple with BiPO 4 . Rod-like BiOBr/BiPO 4 composites with improved photocatalytic performance were facilely constructed by one-pot hydrothermal method. The composites were characterized by Brunauer -Emmett-Teller (BET) method, X-ray diffraction patterns (XRD), UV–Vis diffuse reflectance spectra (DRS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), surface photovoltage spectroscopy (SPS) and electron spin-resonance (ESR) spectroscopy. The photocatalytic performance of the samples towards degradation of rhodamine B (RhB) and phenol aqueous solution was evaluated under the simulated sunlight irradiation. The SPS results reveal that the separation of photogenerated electron-hole pairs has been promoted due to the formation of heterojuctions. The ESR measurements demonstrate that OH and h + are involved in the photocatalytic reaction. The photocatalytic evaluation display that the sample with molar ratio of Br − /PO 4 3− = 0.4% holds the highest activity. The results further substantially exhibit that coupling BiPO 4 with BiOBr can remarkably boost the photocatalytic performance of BiPO 4 , benefiting from significantly enhanced separation of photoinduced charge pairs. Based on all the observations, a Z-scheme separation and transfer scheme of the photo-induced charge pairs of BiOBr/BiPO 4 was proposed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Three trinuclear complexes constructed from a naphthalenediol-based bis(Salamo)-type tetraoxime ligand (H4L1), [Cu3(L1)(OAc)2]·CH3OH (1), [Zn3(L1)(OAc)2(CH3OH)2]·4CHCl3 (2), and [Cu2(L1)Na(NO3)(CH3OH)] (3), and one dinuclear complex, [{Cu(L2)}2] (4), based on an unexpected ligand H2L2 derived from the cleavage of H4L1 have been synthesized and characterized by X-ray diffraction analyses. Different anionic sources, transition metal salts, and rationally controlled reaction conditions play important roles in the construction of the resulting complexes with variable coordination geometries (coordination number ranges from 4 to 7), and four types of supramolecular network were controlled by noncovalent interactions, such as hydrogen bond, π···π stacking, C–H···π, Cu···π, and halogen-related interactions. Conosilane A (1), a novel sesquiterpene with an unprecedented carbon skeleton, was isolated from the cultures of the basidiomycete Conocybe siliginea. Its structure was elucidated by extensive spectroscopic methods, and the absolute configuration was determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Trefolane A (1), an unprecedented skeleton with a 5/6/4 tricyclic ring system, was isolated from cultures of the basidiomycete Tremella foliacea. The structure was elucidated by means of spectroscopic methods and further confirmed by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. A possible biogenesis for trefolane A (1) was also proposed.
