Two novel complexes [Zn(hfac)2(NIT-1’-MeBzIm) ] 1 and [Cu(hfac)2(NIT-1’-MeBzIm)] 2 (hfac = hexafluoroacetylacetonate; NIT-1’-MeBzIm = 2-{2’-[(l’-methyl)benzimidazolyl]}-4,4,5,5-tetramethylimidazoline-1-oxyl-3-oxide) have been prepared and structurally characterized by X-ray diffraction methods. Both complexes crystallize in orthorhombic. Two new coordination polymers, {[Co(CH3C6H4-ip)(btp)]· 2H2O}n, (1) and {[Ni(CH3C6H4-ip)(bpe)]}n(2) (CH3C6H4-H2ip = 5-(4′-methylphenyl)isophthalic acid, btp = 1,3-bi(1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)propane, bpe = 1,2-bi(4-pyridyl) ethene), have been obtained under hydrothermal conditions. Complexes 1 and 2 were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis and further characterized by elemental analysis and IR spectroscopy. Complexes 1 and 2 exhibit different two-dimensional (2D) → three-dimensional (3D) polythreaded networks based on 2D corrugated layers that are connected by CH3C6H4-ip and N-donor coligands. An organic compound 5,5’dithio-bis-2-nitrobenzoic formate, formulated as C16H12N2O8S2 (1) has been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, UV, transmission Raman spectroscopy, and X-ray single crystal diffraction. It crystallizes in a monoclinic system, space group P–1 , with a = 8.041(2), b = 10.036(3), c = 11.340(3) Å, V = 876.8 Å3. The π-π stacking interactions propagate the compound unit into a trimer structure, and these trimers are further linked by intermolecular π-π stacking interactions into the two-dimensional supramolecular network. A novel molecular cubic perovskite (C6H14N2)(NH4)[BF4]3, space group Pa-3 (number 205), has been hydrothermally synthesized and further characterized by x-ray diffraction studies, elemental analysis, infrared spectrum, and thermogravimetric analysis. This is the Gfirst molecular cubic perovskite based on the three-dimensional (3-D) array of complex C6H14N2 2+ (C6H14N2 = doubly protonated 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane), NH4 +, and BF4 − modular groups that are held together largely by the extensive hydrogen bonding. This work demonstrates that the perovskite-type structure is highly flexible to diverse chemical components and can be stabilized by a wide range of chemical interactions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A new coordination polymer, {[Cu(Brip)(1,4-btb)1.5]·2H2O}n, (H2Brip = 5-bromoisophthalic acid, 1,4-btb = 1,4-bis(triazol) butane) was prepared under hydrothermal condition by the reactions of Cu(II) acetate with H2Brip and 1,4-btb. The title complex was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis and further characterized by elemental analysis and IR spectroscopy. Complex 1 has a 3D network extended by both H2Brip and 1,4-btb ligands that employ the same bis-monodentate bridging coordination modes. From the view of topology, the structure of 1 could be described as a 5-connected (44·66)-nov net. Two of such nets penetrate with each other to generate a 2-fold interpenetrating 3D network. Four new NiIIand CoIIcomplexes, [Ni(5-Br-ip)(bip)(H2O)]n(1), [Ni(5-Br-ip)(bib)]n(2), [Co(5-Br-ip)(bip)]n(3) and [Co(5-Br-ip)(bip)]n(4) (5-Br-H2ip = 5-bromoisophthalic acid, bip = 1,3-bis(imidazol)propane, bib = 1,4-bis(imidazol)butane), have been synthesized and structurally characterized by elemental analysis, IR and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Complex 1features a 2D double layer extended by the intermolecular hydrogen bonds between 2D layers. Complex 2shows a 2-fold interpenetrating 3D → 3D network based on the dinuclear Ni(ii) units. Complexes 3and 4can be regarded as supramolecular structural isomers. Isomer 3possesses a 1D chain structure with binuclear Co units as subunits. Isomer 4shows a 3D network and can be reduced to a 4-connected net with the (65.8) topology. The structural differences indicate that the backbone of the organic N-donor ligands and the nature of the metal ions play important roles in governing the structures of such metal–organic coordination architectures. This work presents a well-defined synthetic system exemplifying the effect of N-donor ancillary ligands on the formation of complex architectures in a zinc(ii)-H2hmph-H2O system by the mild hydrothermal route (H2hmph = homophthalic acid). The single-crystal X-ray diffractions reveal that structure variation of isolated three complexes spans the range of dimensionalities from 2D lamella [Zn(hmph)(bpe)]n(1), 2D thick-layer [Zn(hmph)(bpp)]n(2) to 3D microporous framework {[Zn2(hmph)(trz)2]·H2O}n(3), showing the marked sensitivity of the structures to the flexibility of varied N-donor ancillary ligands (bpe = 1,2-di(4-pyridyl)ethylene, bpp = 1,3-di(4-pyridyl)propane, and Htrz = 1,2,4-triazole). The structures of three complexes can be considered as the assembly of various chain-like structure motifs. The 2D lamella structure of 1features hmph-bridged binuclear zinc(ii) chains joined by less flexible trans-bpe ligands, whereas the 2D thick-layer of 2manifests hmph-bridged mononuclear zinc(ii) chains cross-linked further by flexible bpp legands along two different directions. The alternate opposite chiral helixes, featuring rigid trz-bridged mononuclear zinc(ii), and additional binuclear zinc(ii) units are cohered together by hmph linkers yielding a 3D microporous coordination network of 3with new framework topology. It is shown that the structures, packing densities, and thermal stabilities of all these complexes are markedly sensitive to the molecule size, conformation, and flexibility of varied N-donor ancillary ligands. Two new coordination polymers, [Mn(Bript)(2,2'-bipy)] (1) and [Mn(Bript)(phen)(H2O)](H2O) (2), were prepared through hydrothermal reactions of Mn(II) acetate with H2Bript (H2Bript = 4-bromoisophthalic acid), and the N-donor ligands 2,2'-bipy and phen (2,2'-bipy = 2,2'-bipyridine, phen = 1,10-phenanthroline). Both complexes were structurally characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, and X-ray single-crystal diffraction. Their X-ray crystal structures show that the two complexes belong to triclinic and monoclinic systems, P-1 space group for 1 and a = 9.389 (3) Å, b = 11.170 (3) Å, c = 16.629 (5) Å, α = 90.759 (3)°, β = 95.061(3)°, γ = 93.214(3)°, P2(1)/c space group for 2 and a = 12.980(14) Å, b = 11.120 (12) Å, c = 13.079(14) Å, β = 92.868(10)°, respectively. Complex 1 exhibits a 1D ladderlike chain, and then the neighboring 1D chains are further linked by the π⋅⋅⋅π stacking interactions to form a 2D supramolecular network. While complex 2 possesses a 2D layer structure, there also exists extensive intra- and intermolecular hydrogen-bonding interactions. A three dimensional holmium(III) coordination polymer formulated as [Ho4(pydc)2(μ4-C2O4)4·8H2O]·6H2On (H2pydc = 2, 6-pyridine-dicarboxylic acid) has been synthesized via the reaction of 2,6-pyridine-dicarboxylic acid and ammonium oxalate with holmium nitrate, and characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy and X-ray single crystal diffraction. The complex presents 1D zigzag alternate chain array, and these 1D chains are further linked by oxalate ligand into 3D frameworks. Preliminary magnetic studies reveal the complex having weak but significant ferromagnetic couplings within the two adjacent magnetic centers bridged through oxalato, and the complex displays characteristic metal-centered fluorescence in solid state. Two new 4-sulfobenzoate coordination polymers based on the Zn2+/Cd2+/4-sulfobenzoate/4,4'-bipyridine system, [Zn(4,4'-bipy) (H2O)4] (sb) (1), [Cd2(4,4'-bipy)4(sb)2(H2O)3] · 3H2O (2) [4,4'-bipy=4,4'-bipyridine; sb=4-sulfobenzoate dianion], have been prepared and characterized by IR, elemental analysis and single-crystal X-ray analysis. Their X-ray crystal structures show that the two complexes belong to a orthorhombic system, Pca21 space group, a=12.1794(8) Å, b=11.3422(8) Å, c=14.7572(10) Å and a monoclinic system, C/c space group, β=101.161(2)°, a=12.4916(16)) Å, b=19.023(2) Å, c=23.501(3) Å for 1 and 2, respectively. Both of the complexes form 1-D chains, while the arrangement of the 1-D chains are different. In contrast to monodentate 4,4'-bipy-containing complexes reported in the literature, the bisdentate function for 4,4'-bipy in 4-sulfobenzoate transition metal system has not been reported up to now. A new complex, [Cu(imme2py)2](ClO4) (imme2py?=?2-(2'-(6'-methylpyridyl))-4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-1H-imidazolyl-1-oxyl) has been synthesized and structurally characterized by X-ray diffraction methods. It crystallizes in the orthorhombic crystal system, space group P 212121. The structure consists of [Cu(imme2py)2] + cations and chloride anions. The coordination geometry about Cu(I) is tetrahedral with the four coordination sites being occupied by four nitrogen atoms. A novel complex [Zn(NIT2-thz)2(H2O)2]·(ClO4)2 has been synthesized and structurally characterized by X-ray diffraction methods. It crystallizes in the triclinic crystal system and space group PI¯. The structure consists of [Zn(NIT2-thz)2(H2O)2]2+ moiety and two perchlorate anions. The Zinc(II) ion is in a distorted octahedral environment: one nitrogen atom and one oxygen atom from the NIT2-thz, one nitrogen atom and one oxygen atom from another NIT2-thz in the basal plane; two oxygen atoms from the two water molecules in the axial position. The units of [Zn(NIT2-thz)2(H2O)2]2+ were connected as one-dimension chain by the intermolecular hydrogen bonds. Abstract: Two new niobium phosphates KNbP2O8 (1) and NbPO4F2 (2) were synthesized by using a two-step hydro/solvothermal procedure and structurally characterized by sing-crystal X-ray diffractions. Both compounds are based on the alternative connection of Nb-octahedra and P-tetrahedra to form extended three-dimensional solids with different local interruptions around polyhedral sites. Compound 1 features a (3,6)-connected microporous anionic framework exhibiting local interruptions around the P-tetrahedra, and compound 2 gives a 4-connected dense solid with local interruptions around the Nb-octahedra. Abstract: The hydrothermal reactions of Cd, Zn, or Cu(II) acetate salts with H2PHDA and BPP flexible ligands afford three new coordination polymers, including [Cd(PHDA)(BPP)(H2O)] n (1), [Zn(PHDA)(BPP)] n (2), and [Cu2(PHDA)2(BPP)] n (3) (H2PHDA=1,2-phenylenediacetic acid, BPP=1,3-bis(4-pyridyl)propane). The single-crystal X-ray diffractions reveal that all three complexes feature various metal carboxylate subunits extended further by the BPP ligands to form a diverse range of structures, displaying a remarked structural sensitivity to metal(II) cation. Complex 1 containing PHDA-bridged binuclear cadmium generates 1D double-stranded chain, complex 2 results in 2D→2D interpenetrated (4,4) grids, and complex 3 displays a 3D self-penetrated framework with 48668 rob topology. Abstract: A novel organically templated aluminoborate, AlB3O6(OH)·0.5(C2H10N2) 1 was synthesized under hydrothermal conditions and structurally characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction. Its aluminoborate architecture features the alternative connection of AlO3(OH) tetrahedra and B3O6 polyanions, giving rise to a sheet with hnb topology. Two adjacent antiparallel sheets sandwich H2en templates by hydrogen bonding interactions to produce a slab block (en=ethylenediamine). These slab blocks are stacked in a −AAAA-sequence and further cohered entirely by relatively weak van der Waals interactions to form its entire structure. An ether bridged tetracarboxylic acid ligand, 5-(3′,4′-Dicarboxylphenoxy)-isophthalic acid (H 4 L) was used to construct two Co(II) coordination polymers in presence of different nitrogen donor ligands such as 4,4′-bipyridine (4,4′-bpy) and 4,4′-bis(pyrid-4-yl)biphenyl (bpbp). The products formed under hydrothermal conditions are formulated as [Co 2 L(4,4′-bpy) 2 (H 2 O) 3 ] n ( 1 ) and {[Co(bpbp) 2 (H 2 L)]·H 2 O} n ( 2 ). The compounds were characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, IR spectroscopy, elemental analysis, and powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) measurement. Compound 1 shows an intriguing (3,4,5)-connected 3D framework with a point symbol of (4 2 · 6 2 · 8 2 )(4 2 · 6 5 · 8 3 )(6 2 · 8). Compound 2 is an unusual 3D supramolecular framework generated by the one-dimensional [Co(bpbp)(H 2 L)] n polymer chain. Self-assembly of cadmium(II) salt based on 2,3′,5,5′-biphenyl tetracarboxylate with or without various N-donor ligands affords a series of coordination polymers, namely {[Cd 1.5 (Hbptc)(H 2 O) 4.5 ]·2H 2 O} n ( 1 ), {[Cd 2 (bptc)(2,2′-bipy) 2 ]·2H 2 O} n ( 2 ), {[Cd 2 (bptc)(pyp) 2 (H 2 O) 2 ]} n ( 3 ), [Cd(H 3 bptc) 2 (bip) 2 ] n ( 4 ), and {[Cd 2 (bptc)(bpt)(H 2 O)]·H 2 O} n ( 5 ), where H 4 bptc = 2,3′,5,5′-biphenyl tetracarboxylic acid, 2,2′-bipy = 2,2′-bipyridine, pyp = 3-(pyrid-2-yl)pyrazole, bip = 3,5-bis(1-imidazol)pyridine, bpt = 3,5-bis(4-pyridyl)-1,2,4-triazolyl. Their structures were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis and further characterized by elemental analysis and IR spectra. Complex 1 shows a 2D helical layer, which is further extended to a 3D supermolecule network through inter-layer C–H⋯O hydrogen bonds and π⋯π stacking interactions. Complex 2 exhibits a (3,6)-connected (4 3 ) 2 (4 6 .6 6 .8 3 )- kgd topology. Complex 3 possesses a 2D (3,5)-connected (4.5.6)(4.5 3 .6 4 .7 2 ) net based on 1D tube-like chains. Abstract: Two new 3-D coordination polymers bearing linear trinuclear secondary building blocks with mixed bridging ligands, {[Ni3(tbip)2(Htbip)2(bib)2]·4H2O} n (1) and {[Co3(tbip)2(Htbip)2(btb)2]·4H2O} n (2) (H2tbip=5-tert-butyl isophthalic acid, bib=1,4-bis(imidazol-1-yl)butane, btb=1,4-bis(1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)butane), were obtained and characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, single-crystal X-ray crystallography and powder X-ray diffraction. Solvothermal reactions of an unsymmetrical tricarboxylicacid ligand, biphenyl-3,3′,5-tricarboxylic acid (H3L), with cobalt, nickel, and manganese salts in the presence of 1,2-bi(4-pyridyl)ethane(bpa), 1,2-bi(4-pyridyl)ethene (bpe), and 1,3-bi(4-pyridyl)propane(bpp) ligands produced four new coordination polymers, namely, {[Co2(HL)2(bpa)2(H2O)]}n(1), {[Co(HL)(bpe)]·H2O}n(2), {[Ni(HL)(bpa)]·H2O}n(3), and {[Mn3L2(H-bpp)(OH)(H2O)2]·2H2O}n(4). Complexes 1–4were structurally characterized byelemental analysis, infrared (IR) spectra, and X-ray single-crystaldiffraction. Complex 1exhibits a three-dimensional (3D)4-fold interpenetrating diamondoid framework. Complex 2is a two-dimensional (2D) layered structure with a (3,5)-connected(42.6)(42.67.8) topology and furtherstacks via hydrogen-bonding interactions to generate a 3D supramoleculararchitecture. Complex 3shows a 3D framework assembledby mutual interpenetration of neighboring 2D layers. Complex 4possesses a 3D framework composed of the trinuclear [Mn3(μ3-OH)]5牛겵 nodes witha (42.6)(42.6)(44.62.73.85.9) topology. Abstract: A novel 3d–4f heterometallic coordination polymer, namely, {[Sm2(PBDA)2·2H2O][Zn2(PBDA)2(Cl)2]}n (1), (H2PBDA=3 -(pyridin-3-yl-oxy) benzene −1,2-dicarboxylic acid) has been hydrothermally synthesized by using samarium(III) nitrate, H2PBDA acid and zinc chloride as raw materials, and characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR, TG analysis and single crystal X-ray diffraction. Polymer 1 possesses two-dimensional (2D) network containing the original 1D heterometallic chain composed of [Sm2Zn2(PBDA)2] moieties. Variable temperature magnetic susceptibility studies reveal that 1 displays possible weak antiferromagnetic coupling between the neighboring Sm(III) ions, and the photoluminescent properties of polymer 1 as well as free H2PBDA ligand were also investigated. Abstract: In this context, three structurally related flexible heterocyclic thioethers involving thiadiazole, 2,2′-[methylenebis(thio)]bis[1,3,4-thiadiazole] (L1 ), 2,2′-[1,2-ethanediyl bis(thio)]bis[1,3,4-thiadiazole] (L2 ) and 2,2′-[1,3-propanediylbis(thio)]bis[1,3,4-thiadiazole] (L3 ), and three new silver nitrate complexes of these ligands, [AgL1 (NO3)] 1, [AgL2 ](NO3)2 2, and [AgL3 (NO3)] 3, have been synthesized and characterized. All six new structures were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Complexes 1–3 exhibit an infinite three-dimensional structure, 1D zigzag chain structure and quasi-2D structure, respectively. In the crystal structures of the three complexes, a variety of coordination modes of AgI have been observed, probably due to the variation of the chain length of the linker unit. In line with the analysis of the corresponding ligands structures, it is clear that geometrical effects seem to be more important than electronic effects in controlling the framework formation of these systems, resulting in the AgI center to prefer to coordinate to N donors rather than S donors despite AgI being a ‘soft’ metal.
