A long smoking pipe stem made of dark turned wood in which a turning tool called a lathe turns a piece of wood and, using hand- held tools, create a shape that is symmetrical around the axis of rotation. There is a flat piece, possibly bone or antler, encircling the pipe near the mouthpiece end.

Ceramic German pipe with a wooden stem. The stem is of turned dark wood design with a section of light wood. There is a white ceramic V-shaped chamber that has two openings for the stem and the bowl. The white ceramic bowl has a metal hinged lid at the top. It also has a picture of a German army official and the inscription "5. ARMEE Weihnachten 1914."

This pipe is made from a stripper clip with five rifle rounds attached to it. The rounds are soldered together. The one on the far left has been fitted with a pipe stem and on the far right, a round has been hollowed out to hold a cigarette. These rifle rounds are likely 7.62 x 54mm Russian rounds used in a Mosin-Nagant rifle.

Metal box, or tin, is a mustard-like color. On the side of the tin it says "NET WT. 4 Oz." On top of the lid it says "KEEP TIGHTLY CLOSED." Inside there appear to be tobacco flakes.

Tin is made of metal and has an image of a sailor on the lid. "Player's Navy Cut Cigarettes" and "Gold Leaf" are written on the lid. "Player's Navy Cut Cigarettes" is also written on the sides of the tin.

Pipe is made of porcelain and has an image of Kaiser Wilhelm II on the front of the porcelain bowl.

The tobacco tin is made of metal. The lid opens on hinges and has the inscription, "Old English curve cut pipe tobacco". "A slice to a pipeful", "No waste", "Choice quality" and "Convenient" are written along the sides of the lid and on the sides of the tin.

The cigarette box is made of leather and consists of two pieces. An inner piece holds the cigarettes and an ourter piece slides over top of it to secure the conents. The outer piece has two gold inlay inscriptions, one of an American flag and one that reads, "Flag Day, June 15, 1914, Manchester, N.H." The inner piece has a gold inlay that reads, "Fatima Turkish blend cigarettes."

The cigarette box is made of wood and has a sliding cover covering 10 slots for cigarettes to sit in. The broadside of the box has a decoration of the Great Seal of the United States.

The package of tobacco has an image of a soldier playing a bugle in front of an army camp. The top of the package has a tax stamp. The package also contains cigarette papers. The package also has the inscription, "Blended Turkish & Domestic Cigarette Tobacco."

Tin is made of metal and decorated with abstract scrolling and zig-zag patters in two shades of blue, as well as silver. Its lid opens on hinges, and "EDGEWORTH" and "EXTRA HIGH GRADE PLUG SLICE" are written on the lid, with "MANUFACTURED BY LARUS & BRO CO. RICHMOND, VA." written on a scroll below. "Finest Selected Stock" is written along one side, and there is the remnant of a blue tobacco tax stamp on the bottom of the tin.

The bowl of the pipe has been carved to resemble a boot or shoe, and is made of wood along with the shank. A small inscription indicates that the pipe was "MADE IN ITALY". The pipe stem is a grayish brown color that has become discolored in places, and appears to be made of a type of plastic.

Pipe has a wooden stem and mouthpiece, with a porcelain bowl and shank. There is a length of thin string or twine wound around the top of the stem, with two small green pom-poms attached to the ends. There is also a hinged metal cap attached to the top of the bowl. At the bend in the shank is an image of an Iron Cross with the inscriptions, "W" and "1914", surrounded by a laurel wreath tied with a bow. On the front of the bowl is the inscription, "Fest steht der deutschen Bruderstämme Wacht am Rhein." surrounded by another wreath with berries, German flags, and oak leaves. The words are similar to the lyrics of "Die Wacht am Rhein", a German patriotic anthem, and roughly translate to "Strong stands the German brotherhood watch on the Rhine". Below is inscribed "1915". On the back of bowl, facing the stem, is inscribed, "Armee Abteilung Gaede". This was a detachment of the German Army during World War I, named after its commander General Hans Gaede and later known as Armee-Abteilung B.

The pipe has a carving of a flower. The pipe has the inscription, "Saas-Fee" on the front and the inscription, "Bruyere Garantie" on the side.

Pipe with carving of Ferdinand Foch. The pipe has a note reading: "Pipe of Sidney Ashley of the Royal Air Force (formerly the Flying Corps) in World War I. Hand-carved likeness of Ferdinand Foch, Supreme Allied Commander during World War I."

The bowl of the pipe has been carved to resemble a horse's head and is made of dark wood. Carved inscriptions indicate that the material is "REAL BRIAR" and "HAND CARVED". The pipe stem is black, and appears to be made of a type of plastic. There is also a small metal band at the joining of the shank and the stem. Tobacco residue inside the bowl suggests that this pipe has been used.

The pipe depicts a forest scene with a deer on each of the three faces of the bowl. The burnt ring around the bowl suggests that the pipe had been used regularly.

The package of cigarette papers is white with a two-tone blue sillouette of a soldier playing a bugle.

Cigarette package holder is made of dark, dull metal and is open on five sides, allowing the cigarette package label to be seen while inside. The lid opens on a hinge, and is kept closed by a small tab that fits into a slot. Affixed to the surface of the lid is an appliqué of the letters "U.S." made of darker metal. There appears to be engraved image beneath that is obscured by the appliqué. There are also thin engraved stripes and wave patterns on the lid.

The rolling papers have an image of Edward VII, who was known as Prince Albert before being crowned King, on the front of the package along with the inscription, "Prince Albert crimp cut long burning pipe and cigarette tobacco". On the back of the package is the inscription, "For pipe and cigarette smokers."

The cigarette box has an image of the British flag with the inscription, "Redford's navy cut". The box is wrapped in plastic.

Cigarette package is decorated with an image of a woman, wearing a pharaonic headdress, blue gown, and bangles reclining on a couch shaped like a cat. Above is written "MURAD", followed by "THE TURKISH CIGARETTE". Overlaying the images is the inscription, "Turkish Tobacco" stylized like cursive handwriting. At the bottom is "S. ANARGYROS.", with "CAPITAL STOCK OWNED BY P. LORILLARD CO." below in small letters. There is generic Egyptian and Middle Eastern imagery in the background. On either side of the package are statues of Anubis, and on the reverse side are palm trees, pyramids, camels, and riders in the background. In the foreground are two pillars; the left pillar contains a printed warning against cigarette resale, and the right pillar has the inscriptions "Factory No.7", "10", "3rd. Dist. New York", and "D". A blue tax stamp is also affixed to the back of the package, with a man's portrait and the name "DE WITT CLINTON" above "TEN."

A bag containing Bull Durham tobacco. There is an image of a bull on the label with the inscription, "Genuine Durham (Trade Mark) Smoking Tobacco, W.T. Blackwell & Co., (Blackwell's Durham Tob. Co., Suc'r.)". At the top of the bag, there is a pull string for closing the bag. There is a tag with the Bull Durham smoking tobacco branding at the end of the string. The bag also has an American Tobacco Company label.

Tin is made of slightly dented metal, and has a lid that opens on hinges. Its body has been painted gold, and its lid painted dark and light green, with gold and red as well. Much of this paint has chipped off or been worn away with time. The label appears to be slightly askew relative to the lid. Within a gold border on the label are the words, "Manhattan Cocktail", with "A PLUG PERIQUE MIXTURE" and "WHITTLE CUT" beneath. Above is written "YOU SMOKE", while to the left is an image of a rooster with "I CROW" below, and to the right is an image of a cocktail glass with "WE DRINK" below. Underneath are the words "WILL POSITIVELY NOT BITE THE TONGUE" and "FALK TOBACCO CO., Richmond, Va.". Written in tiny letters at the top of the lid is, "Trade mark Registered in U.S. Patent Office", while at the bottom of the lid is written, "FACTORY NO. 1 SECOND DISTRICT OF VIRGINIA" and "NOTICE: THE MANUFACTURERS OF THIS TOBACCO HAVE COMPLIED WITH ALL THE REQUIREMENTS OF LAW, EVERY PERSON IS CAUTIONED, UNDER THE PENALTIES OF LAW, NOT TO USE THIS PACKAGE FOR TOBACCO AGAIN."

Tin has a long, rectangular shape and is made of rusted metal, with a hinged lid colored red, blue, white, and gold, chipping away in places. At the top of the lid is an image of a temple and a road. Underneath is written "TEMPLE BAR", with "WAVE-CUT SMOKING" and "NEW CUT" below. These words are surrounded by abstract designs. In the lower right corner is the small inscription "PATENT APPLIED FOR". In this same area are engraved letters that appear to be "E" and "P", inscribed after the original manufacturing of the tin. On the inside of the lid is written "TEMPLE BAR" and "WAVE CUT" once again, along with a note from the manufacturer: "Something quite new in the manufacture of tobacco. The special form of cut ensures a better draught in the pipe. When rubbed open a perfect Smoking Tobacco is obtained."

The cigarette box is made of cardboard. There is an image of a sailor and ships on the front of the box. The back of the cigarette box has the inscription, "Manufactured from rich, cool Virginia tobacco."

Ashtray is made of metal and has a circular base, narrowing into a smaller circular opening to hold the ashes. A small curved piece of metal has been soldered onto the lip of the ashtray to act as a cigarette holder. The underside of the ashtray is green, although the color has worn away in places, and may be made from a separate piece of metal. The base is similar to the rim of an artillery shell in appearance, but it is unclear how the shell would have been converted into an ashtray if that were the case. Affixed to the side of the ashtray is an appliqué of the British Royal Regiment of Artillery cap badge. This includes: a crown above a scroll with the inscription "UBIQUE", both above a cannon, with another scroll bearing the inscription, "QUO FAS ET GLORIA DUCUNT" below. These inscriptions are mottoes of the Royal Artillery.

Ashtray is rectangular in shape and made of metal, with a shallow indentation in the center. In this indentation are appliqués of two soldiers' heads facing each other, with an Iron Cross between them. On the Iron Cross is inscribed a small "W". Both soldiers are wearing World War I-era military caps. The left soldier has a sad face with tears, and the inscription "Verdun" at his neck. The right soldier has a smiling face with the inscription "PARIS" at his neck.

Ashtray is made of cast iron and shaped like a shield. There are two depressions at the top that could act as cigarette holders. The ashtray features elements from the U.S. Seal, with an eagle perched on a shield bearing stars and stripes like the U.S. flag. Above the eagle on a scroll is inscribed, "E PLURIBUS UNUM". To the left and right of the eagle are a sailor and soldier, respectively, both holding guns. Their uniforms and guns suggest that they are World War I-era figures.

Ashtray is made from a rectangular copper plate that has been indented in the middle, with four bullet projectiles soldered to the bottom to act as feet. The four corners of the plate have been bent and curled downward. Placed at two corners of the ashtray are two curved copper discs to act as cigarette holders, while at a third corner is a small matchbox holder. The last remaining corner bears an engraved image of an anchor with two wings, likely a U.S. naval aviation insignia. A Prop and Wings image, the insignia of the U.S. Army Air Service, is at the center of the ashtray, around which is the engraved inscription "U.S. NAVAL AVIATION 19 19". On the bottom of the ashtray is inscribed, "EVERTT BOUGHAN.", "CO. XX. INSTRS BRKS.", and "15 REG. AVIATION UNIT."

The ashtrays are made of brass. The ashtrays have a relief of a soldier and a woman.

The base of the ashtray has been constructed from the bottom part of a 75 mm artillery shell, cut down and soldered to a flat metal plate. The edges of this plate have been decorated with indentations, creating a rounded scalloped pattern. Semi-circular areas have been cut out of the top edge of the shell. A brass column has been soldered to the middle of the ashtray, and at its tapered end is a star with the stamped inscription "1918."

The cigar cutter is made from a French rifle barrel on a wooden base. The end of the barrel houses a spring-loaded plunger, which, when pressure is applied, brings a sharp-edged knife past a small hole just above the wooden base. The tip of the cigar is placed in the hole and is cut off by the knife.

The humidor has been made from a 37 mm artillery shell. The humidor has an etching of a flower with the inscription, "Souvenir 1918."

The ashtray is made of brass. The ashtray has an image of the Kaiser that is made of brass. There is a matchbox holder on the back of the ashtray.

The humidor is made from wood and is held together with a copper band. The lid is made from a section of a 77 mm artillery shell.

The ashtray has been shaped to resemble a hat. A copper driving band has been riveted across the bridge of the hat. The ashtray has an image of the Sphinx and the word "Egypt" and a smaller image of the sphinx and the word "Egypt" surrounded by a wreath. These images are the insignia of the Gloucestershire Regiment of the British Army.

Hat is made from the bottom section of a polished brass 75 mm artillery shell. The shell has been cut down from its original height, with one longer curved edge that has been flared slightly outward to form the visor of the hat. The shell retains part of its primer inside. Decorating the outside of the hat are two small U.S. Seals at each of the temples, and a larger U.S. Seal at the center above the visor. Each Seal includes: a bald eagle wearing a shield and clutching arrows in its left talon, an olive branch in its right, and a scroll in its beak, all below a sun crest. A copper-colored band runs between the two smaller Seals above the visor, and this may be the driving band of an artillery shell. The hat may also be designed to function as an ashtray when turned upside down.

The ashtray is made from a section of a French 75 mm artillery shell. The ashtray has etchings of flowers and a crown top. The inscription, "Souvenir of the war" is on the bottom part of the ashtray. The matchbox holder has etchings of flowers. "Ypres 14-18" has been inscribed on the matchbox.

Ashtray is made from a section of a 75 mm artillery shell. The inscription, "St. Mihiel" has been etched on the ashtray. In the center of the ashtray is a rifle cartridge and matchbox holder.

Ashtray is made of dark brass, and composed of two artillery shell sections. Due to its ambiguous shape, it may alternatively be a candlestick. The bottom section of a French 75 mm shell functions as the base, and a shortened German 37 mm shell is used for the upper piece. These two sections are attached by a thin cylindrical metal rod or tube, which may be part of the original 75 mm shell's primer.

The matchbox holder, which may also function as a cigarette pack holder, is made of polished brass along with its attached ashtray. The ashtray component has been created from the driving band of an artillery shell welded or soldered to an artillery shell base. The size of the shell matches that of confirmed 75 mm shells, but it has no discernible markings on its bottom. In its center is the shell of a bullet, supporting the matchbox holder component, composed of two sections of bent brass soldered together. The holder features exploding grenade appliqués on either side.
