The subject of "women's political participation" is discussed and researched in the axis of theoretical and practical applications. Women's participation in politics, their absence in politics, and political participation channels and tools find different reflections based on patriarchal systems. This study aims to map the publications on women's political participation in the context of various criteria by using the bibliometric analysis method of the studies selected from the Web of Science database. In the WoS database, which is an effective database in the world, a total of 254 studies published because of the search made on April 12, 2023, by selecting the keywords "women's political participation" were determined. Only the language of studies was restricted among these studies, and 220 studies were included in the analysis. Identified studies were analyzed using the WoS database and VOSviewier software. The study's findings show that studies on women's political participation have decreased since 2020 compared to previous years. In addition, the study determined that Turkey is in the lower ranks among the countries that publish on the relevant subject, as another essential finding that needs to be questioned. This study will provide researchers, politicians, and non-governmental organizations with critical data to identify the deficiencies and riches by knowing all the details, including the theoretical and practical applications of women's political participation. Scientific knowledge has become a fundamental and integral part of individuals' daily lives. Science news in conventional and digital media is an important source of information for individuals. In this sense, the media has a central role as a guide in conveying scientific developments. Science journalists make complex topics and scientific research understandable for audiences at different levels. In this sense, developments in the field of science are shared through the media to the general public. The public has a keen interest in new treatments and technological developments, especially in medical issues. The aim of this study is to provide an overview of the leading trends in science journalism based on specific bibliometric indicators. For this purpose, articles related to science journalism scanned in the Web of Science database are analyzed. The study uses the VOSviewer program for bibliometric analysis. As a result, it is determined that 190 articles related to science journalism in the field of communication are scanned in the Web of Science database. It is seen that 53 of these articles were published by researchers in the United States of America. It is noteworthy that there is no study from Turkey among these articles. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study aims to evaluate the development of nationalism academic literature in the world through bibliometric analysis. The absence of a similar study -a bibliometric study on the nationalism literature in Turkey-, which seeks to answer the question of how the development of nationalism is shaped in academic literature, makes this study more meaningful. In this context, contributing to the Turkish political science literature constitutes another goal of this study. This study examines 9175 articles between 1975-2021 on nationalism and related concepts and theories according to the development of the literature in the Web of Science database. There were discussed through co-author analysis on country basis, co-citation analysis on country basis, co-author analysis, co-entity analysis, and bibliometric mapping. According to the results of this study, it has been determined that the concepts of nationalism, racism, ethnicity and modernism have been studied intensively in the nationalism literature, which has a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary nature, today as well as in the past, and that nationalism continues its potential existence as a field of study in the future. This study, it is aimed to determine the historical development of the use of humor in organizations in the context of management discipline with the bibliometric analysis method and to guide those who work in this field in the future by creating a conceptual framework. For this purpose, articles published in the Web of Science database and scanned in different indexes on the use of humor in organizations until 2022 were analyzed by the bibliometric method. 306 articles focusing on the field of management were examined in the keywords, abstract, and title areas. To answer the questions created for the research, various productivity indicators were examined and citation analysis, co-citation, and co-word analysis were performed within the scope of bibliometric analysis. It has been found that the interest in the field of management for studies on the use of humor in organizations has increased in the last 15 years. The fact that the number of publications originating from Turkey is 4 can be considered as an indication that the field of humor use in organizations is open to development in our country. It has also been determined that social media, the leader's use of humor, entertainment at work, status, and content analysis are current issues in the field of "use of humor in organizations". Objective: The aim of study of this study is to evaluate the hand surgery fellowship education program in terms of Turkey's productivity in the hand and wrist literature Methods: Original articles published in five highly cited hand surgery journals between 2009 and 2019 were investigated. In order to examine the increase in quantity and quality of the published articles over time, the publications were divided into two groups according to two equal time periods (A=01.01.2009-30.06.2014 and B=01.07.2014-31.12.2019 period). Period A represented the period before the hand surgery subspecialty training program, and period B represented the period after it. Results: A total of 5,179 articles on hand and wrist research from five journals were identified in the database of Web of Science from 2009 to 2019. It was found that 51.5% (n=2,665) of the studies were published in period A and 48.5% (n=2514) were published in period B. Turkey had 34 publication in period A (ranked 15th) and 55 publication in period B (ranked 11th). Contribution of Turkey to the total hand and wrist research increased by 69.2% (1.3% versus 2.2%) between the two periods, and a significant increase was observed in articles from 2009 to 2019 in Turkey (R2=0.67, p=0.003) Conclusion: We observed a significant increase in the number of articles about hand and wrist research from Turkey after hand surgery fellowship education program. Industry 4.0 differentiates production and business models through connecting embedded system, production technologies, and smart production processes. Preparing the young generation to this change is a challenge for higher education. In this study, the adaptation of the entrepreneurial and innovative universities in Turkey to Industry 4.0 is linked with their relevance level to Industry 4.0. To represent the relevance level of universities, a cluster analysis is put forward. Three criteria, named as the number of academic publications related to Industry 4.0, the number of physical structures that facilitate the adaptation to Industry 4.0, and the number of events organized by the universities within the Industry 4.0 concept, were selected for the clustering analysis. To access the number of academic publications of universities, ISI Web of Science database was used. “Industry 4.0” and its components were used as keywords. Both the websites of the each university and Google search results were used to access the values of remaining two criteria. The obtained data were used for K-means clustering analysis. The optimal number of cluster was determined as five with the elbow method. It is thought that the results of the study could be used as an indicator for universities to determine their Industry 4.0 road maps. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Bibliometric indexes are often used to evaluate and compare neurosurgeons and departments, and they have been shown to correlate with academic rank and department reputation. We evaluated academic productivity of neurosurgeons practicing in departments accredited by the Joint Residency Advisory and Accreditation Committee and European Association of Neurological Surgeons. In a cross-sectional study, we calculated number of publications, citations, h-index, and m-quotient from PubMed and Web of Science databases for 285 neurosurgeons affiliated with 19 departments that are accredited or in progress of accreditation by the Joint residency Advisory and Accreditation Committee. Academic productivity was compared as a function of academic rank and research degree. Median number of publications in PubMed and Web of Science indexed journals were 13 (range, 0–352) and 15 (range, 0–323), respectively. Median h-index was 4 (range, 0–41), and median m-quotient was 0.56 (range, 0–2.86). There was a significant variability between the studied departments in median number of publications and h-index (P = 0.001). Professors and associate professors had significantly higher bibliometric indexes than neurosurgeons without academic rank (all P values < 0.001). Department chairmen had higher bibliometric indexes than other faculty members (all P values < 0.001). Neurosurgeons holding a research degree authored more publications and had higher bibliometric indexes than faculty members not holding a research degree (P < 0.001). This is the first study to evaluate academic productivity of neurosurgeons practicing in Europe and Turkey. Higher academic rank and advanced research degree were associated with greater academic productivity. Background: Not all manuscripts that are accepted and published in scientific journals have retained their status as published articles, and some of them are retracted after publication. There are various reasons for retraction that are usually grouped into a scientific error, such as statistical flaws, and research misconduct such as plagiarism. Nowadays the number of scientific publications are a source of career advancement and respect in the scientific community. To attain these, the focus of researchers is towards increasing the number of publications per year which sometimes compromises the quality of publications. Aim: The current study aimed to investigate the characteristics of retracted publications that were contributed by Turkish authors to scientific databases. Methods: We searched PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science databases. The search strategies were based on a combination of MeSH terms relevant to "retracted publication" and "Turkey." The databases were searched on 23rd October 2021, without any restrictions on the search period. The inclusion criteria were: (i) retracted publication and, (ii) any authors of the study having affiliation with an institution in Turkey. The titles, authors' affiliations, and abstracts of the search results were screened and bibliographic information was extracted. Results: After removing duplicates and irrelevant studies, our search retrieved a total of 147 publications. The oldest retracted article was published in 1996; thereafter an increasing trend of retracted publications was evident. Regarding access to full-text status, 106 (72.1%) of full-texts were available. Overall 127 scientific journals have published these articles. Biochemical Genetics was the most frequent publisher with five publications. From the institutional point of view, Hacettepe University was the main university, contributing seven papers. The most common reason for retractions was duplication = 50 (34%), and most retracted notices have been issued by the editor-in-chief = 63 (42.9% of papers). The majority of publications were from Medical Science = 93 (63.3% of papers). Among the Medical Science publications, the highest number, 44, were from surgery and allied fields. Turkish authors had international collaborations with 20 countries. Sixteen papers have international collaborations with researchers from Iran. Only 10 of the retracted publications have received funding. Five of the first authors have submitted more than one retracted publication. Citation analysis indicates that the median number of citations received by retracted publications was two (IQR 0-7). The minimum time lag between publication and retraction was less than one year and the maximum was 13 years. Conclusion: The publish or perish pressure in academia sometimes leads to intentional and unintentional research misconduct. Although the number of retracted publications is fewer, their trend is increasing. To overcome the problem, it can be suggested that research methodology and research ethics training are essential in the under- and post-graduate curriculum. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: Multidisciplinary studies are carried out using morphological and morphometric Methods about sex determination. Retrospective evaluation of scientific productivity is a guideline for the development of future studies in the planning and quality aspects. The aim of this study is to evaluate the publications related to sex determination in the extended scientific citation index (SCI-E). Methods: Using "sex determination", "sex estimation" and "anthropology" keywords, all scientific publications in the extended scientific citation index in the English language between 1991-2019 were analyzed using the Web of Science database Results: 516 publications were examined. According to the Web of Science categories, 375 (72.6%) were forensic medicine, 67 (12.9%) anthropology, 29 (5.6%) evolutionary biology, 25 (4.8%) pathology, 15 (2.9%) of them are within the scope of anatomy morphology. Most of the studies have been published in journals related to forensic medicine and forensic sciences. 126 of the publications were sent from the USA, 51 from India, and 37 from Spain. And also 22 studies were sent from Turkey. The authors from Turkey were from department of forensic medicine, anatomy, radiology, orthopedics, physiology, biostatistics. Conclusion: Sex determination by morphological and morphometric Methods have been observed to increase gradually over the years.
