After the Covid-19 pandemic, political parties and international public institutions consolidated the use of TikTok as a communication tool in order to reach a young audience, which requires dynamic formats and more flexible languages. This study aims to reflect on the characteristics of institutional and political communication research in TikTok, the suitability of its methodologies, conclusions and limitations, and its future prospects. To this end, a systematic review of the scientific literature (SLR) for the period 2018-2023 is carried out, following the standards of the PRISMA Statement (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses). After applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria to 1.186 scientific documents, 21 articles published in the Scopus and Web of Science databases were analysed. The findings indicate that Spain concentrates the highest number of publications, that the phenomenon was not studied until 2021 and that 2022 was the year of highest production. The conclusions suggest that the study of TikTok is in an incipient phase and that content analysis is the predominant methodology, although its samples are small. They also suggest that there is little bidirectionality in communication strategies, that interaction is not related to adaptation to the multimodal language of the platform and that the focus should be on studying the community rather than the messages disseminated from official profiles. NAPS (Sleep) , *OBESITY , *SCIENCE databases , *CHILDHOOD obesity , *RANDOM effects model , *WEB databases , *PUBLICATION bias - Abstract
Daytime napping, a habit widely adopted globally, has an unclear association with obesity. In this study, we executed a meta-analysis to explore the relationship between daytime napping and obesity. We conducted a comprehensive search of the PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Scopus, PsycINFO, and Web of Science databases for pertinent articles published up to April 2023. Random-effects models were utilized to calculate odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs), and we assessed the heterogeneity of the included studies using the I2 statistic. To explore potential sources of heterogeneity, subgroup analyses were performed. The methodological quality of the studies was evaluated using the Newcastle–Ottawa Scale (NOS), and funnel plots were employed to detect any publication bias. Sensitivity analyses were conducted by sequentially omitting each study. We conducted a meta-analysis of twelve studies that included one each from the UK and Spain, five from the USA, and five from China, totalling 170,134 participants, to probe the association between napping and obesity. The pooled analysis suggested a higher risk of obesity in individuals who nap (OR: 1.22 [1.10–1.35], p < 0.001, I2 = 87%) compared to non-nappers. The meta-analysis results revealed variations in the summary ORs for studies conducted in China, Spain, the USA, and the UK. The ORs for China, Spain, the USA, and the UK were 1.05 (95% CI 0.90–1.23), 9.36 (95% CI 4.74–18.45), 1.27 (95% CI 1.10–1.47), and 1.39 (95% CI 1.32–1.47), respectively. A subgroup analysis based on age within the American population disclosed that napping in both adults and children heightened obesity incidence. A subgroup analysis based on nap duration found a significant rise in obesity occurrence when nap duration exceeded one hour, but no clear relationship emerged when nap duration was less than 1 h. In a subgroup analysis based on the definition of obesity, napping did not demonstrate a significant relationship with obesity when diagnostic criteria set obesity at a BMI of 25 or above. However, when the criteria were set at a BMI of 28 or 30 or more, napping significantly increased obesity risk. Our meta-analysis indicates a positive association between daytime napping and the risk of obesity. However, given the limited number of included studies, potential confounding factors might not have been fully addressed. Future well-designed prospective studies are required to further investigate this relationship. Large-scale studies are necessary to confirm our findings and elucidate the underlying mechanisms that drive these associations and causation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

INSTITUTIONAL repositories , *OPEN scholarship , *OPEN access publishing , *WEB databases , *HIGHER education , *COMMUNITIES , *LIBRARY directors , *SCIENCE databases - Abstract
This study analyzes the implementation of open science in Spanish universities considering four perspectives: (i) regulations, policies, and strategies; (ii) knowledge production; (iii) research results; and (iv) perception by different academic actors. A qualitative and quantitative methodology is applied, drawing information from university websites, institutional reports, European project databases (Cordis), the Web of Science database, surveys of teaching and research staff, and surveys of vice-rectors and library directors. The information is grouped into regional university systems, according to the autonomous community to which each university belongs, and is analyzed on that basis. The results of the quantitative study show increasing interest in open-science activities, expressed as a growing number of publications, and an increase in participation, leadership, and funding in European projects. Institutional policies and regulations on open science, on the other hand, are few and focus almost exclusively on open access. The development of institutional repositories is one of the great achievements of the Spanish university system, and open-access publishing (mainly green open access) has grown considerably in the last decade. Teaching and research staff are not knowledgeable about open science, although in general they take a positive view toward it, while university policymakers report that most actions to promote open science are still in the process of being implemented. The results reveal heterogeneity among the various institutions’ practices and implementation. As a regional system, the Catalonian university system stands out above the rest for its degree of open-science policy development and implementation and for its intense research activity in the field of open science. The objective of the study is to describe the world scientific production on gamification in the Scopus and Web of Science databases between the months of January 2020 and March 2022. We worked with a universe consisting of 754 documents from the database Web of Science and 1443 from Scopus. The results indicate that, in terms of the number of authors, Scopus has 1,336 and Web of Science, 2,223. The rate of collaboration between authors is slightly higher in Web of Science (3.18) compared to 3.05 in Scopus. Regarding the author with the highest production on the subject, Juho Hamari stood out, while the Lecture notes in computer science magazines in Scopus and the Sustainability magazine in WoS stood out as the media with the highest production of articles on gamification; On the other hand, Spain was the main country producing scientific evidence, and the type of scientific production that stood out was the original articles. The growth of scientific production on gamification is corroborated and further growth is forecast for the coming years. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

PSYCHOLOGICAL tests ,SCIENCE databases ,OLDER people ,ELECTRONIC records ,WEB databases ,LONELINESS - Abstract
A scoping review conducted by researchers at the University of Basque Country aims to define and assess psychological frailty in older adults. The study found that psychological variables are poorly represented in multicomponent frailty assessment instruments, and there is a wide variety of psychological variables included in these instruments. The researchers suggest distinguishing between two separate dimensions of psychological frailty: cognitive frailty and affective frailty. However, further research and discussion are needed to ensure the practical applicability of this proposal. [Extracted from the article]

BIBLIOMETRICS , *WEB databases , *CITATION indexes , *SCIENCE databases - Abstract
The bibliometric study of scientific production in the field of education that has been carried out in Ibero-American countries between 2000 and 2020 and indexed in the Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI) database of the Web of Science (WoS) is presented. 4786 documents have been analyzed using bibliometric techniques, finding a considerable increase in scientific production, with Brazil being the country with the highest production. Likewise, the distribution of the magazines in Bradford zones was determined, noting that the core is made up of two journals, the first published in Latin America and the second in Spain. There was evidence of a decline in single authorship in documents and an increase in international collaboration, reaching in 2000 percentages like those of national collaboration. Through this study, production patterns and trends have been identified, as well as the main channels for disseminating research in the field of education in Ibero-America. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

IMMIGRANT students , *WEB databases , *SCIENCE databases , *EDUCATION research , *TEACHER-student relationships , *EMIGRATION & immigration - Abstract
The purpose of our study is to conduct a systematic review of the research conducted on immigrant students in the school context in Spain from 2000 to 2020 contained in the SCOPUS and Web of Science databases. Our intention is to analyse the arc of Spanish research on immigration and school over these years. To do so, we have evaluated the emerging topics through content analysis, organizing the studies found according to the topics they discuss: (1) the social construction of immigrant students; (2) schooling processes; (3) educational measures at school; (4) teachers; (5) managing multilingualism at school; (6) the process of adapting to school and society; (7) family and school; (8) educational trajectories and school success; and (9) relations between educational policies and practices. The analysis helps us to understand the situation of educational research in this field, as well as to identify the challenges still pending which may guide both future studies and school practices in order to contribute to the real educational inclusion of these students. Bibliometric analysis was used in this study for the quantitative evaluation of current research trends on composting. The research articles indexed from the Science Citation Index-Expanded in Web of Science database published from 2000 to 2019 were investigated. The USA, China and Spain were the top three countries considering the number of papers. Amongst the research institutes, CSIC of Spain, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Agriculture & Agri-Food Canada ranked the top three in total publication amount. Journals that published a significant number of literature regarding topics of composting included Environmental Sciences & Ecology, Agriculture and Engineering. In terms of research content, keywords such as heavy metal, heavy metal and biodegradation appeared frequently. In addition, the analysis of keywords revealed the following research hotspots in future studies: investigation of heavy metal passivator, optimisation of composting conditioner, development of all kinds of microorganisms, rational management of the composting process and improvement of solid waste life cycle assessment. To some extent, it helps to understand the current global status and trends of the related research. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
