In LFG auxiliaries are currently treated as junctional categories contributing tense and aspectual information, but no predicate. The benefits of this analysis are that the auxiliary complex is associated with a flat f-structure regardless of whether the tenses are realized morphologically or periphrastically. Under this analysis it is, however, difficult to account for the morphosyntactic dependencies holding between the auxiliaries and the dependent main verb. This check has been relegated to a separate morphological projection (Butt et al. 1996, Frank and Zaenen 2002). In a previous paper (Wedekind and orsnes 2003) we developed an alternative approach that provides flat f-structures for auxiliary constructions without an additional morphological projection and the problems related to it. Med basis i instruktionssemantik og relevansteori analyseres de spanske tempora presente, pretérito imperfecto og pretérito indefinido med henblik på at finde ud af hvad der er kodet i de forskellige tempora og dermed give en definition af tempusfleksiverne. Det søges vist at de mange betydninger der ofte tillægges fleksiverne kommer andetsteds fra, fra andre sætningsled eller fra teksten.

Det søges påvist at fleksiverne i de spanske tempora futuro og condicional har en begrænset, men konstant betydning. Bl.a. påvises de semantiske forskelle mellem futuro simple, futuro perifrástico og presente brugt om fremtidige situationer. Den syntaktiske analyse søges integreret i en pragmatisk analyse.

På basis af undersøgelser i korpusset ENTREVIS foretages en semantisk-syntaktisk beskrivelse af verbet 'caer'. Det vises hvorledes verbets betydning og aktionsart bestemmes af andre led i prædikatet. Ligeledes vises verbets afledte valenser. Afslutningsvis vises en leksikogradfisk beskrivelse af verbet 'caer'.
