After the 2013 International Congress of Cytology in Paris, consensus groups were formed to establish an international reporting system for urinary tract ( UT) specimens. The recommended guidelines, known as The Paris System ( TPS) for Reporting Urinary Cytology, focus on reducing the rate of unnecessary indeterminate diagnoses while maintaining the excellent performance UT cytology has for identifying high-grade urothelial carcinoma.
