Abstract

The aim of this study is to develop a valid and reliable measurement tool to determine the "Future Anxiety of University Students". The sample of the study consisted of 365 students in the Faculty of Health Sciences of a Foundation University giving education in Istanbul. As a data collection tool, an item pool of 37 items was created in line with the literature, and validity and reliability studies of the scale were carried out. Data were analyzed by using SPSS 21 and AMOS package programs. Internal consistency and test-retest were used to evaluate reliability. Exploratory factor analysis with SPSS program; Confirmatory factor analysis was also performed via the AMOS program. As a result of the analysis, the "Future Anxiety in University Students" scale, consisting of 19 items of 5-point Likert type, and gathered under two factors of "Future Fear" and "Despair of the Future", was developed. The total variance rate explained by the scale is 63.50% and the internal consistency coefficient is 0.91. For the test-retest, the scale was applied to the same group with an interval of two weeks and the correlation coefficient was found to be significant. A two-factor structure was confirmed by confirmatory factor analysis. The Future Anxiety Scale, which was devoloped as a result of the research, was detected to be a valid and reliable measurement tool in determining the future anxiety levels of university students. Abstract

Bireylerin geleceğe ilişkin tutum ve beklentileri ruh sağlığı ve iyi oluş açısından büyük öneme sahiptir. Bu araştırmada üniversite öğrencilerinin geleceğe ilişkin tutumlarının ve beklentilerinin iyi oluş düzeyleri ile ilişkisi ve olumlu, kaygılı ve planlı gelecek tutumlarından hangilerinin iyi oluşu en yüksek düzeyde yordadığı incelenmiştir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubu yaş ortalamaları 20,10 (σ = 1,42) olan 278 (% 73’ü kadın) üniversite öğrencisinden oluşmaktadır. Araştırma verilerinin toplanmasında bir kişisel bilgi formu, PERMA İyi Oluş Ölçeği, On-Maddeli Kişilik Ölçeği, Geleceğe Yönelik Tutum Ölçeği ve Olumlu Gelecek Beklentisi Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sorularını cevaplamak üzere verilerin analizinde Pearson Momentler Çarpımı Korelasyonu, Kısmi korelasyon ve Aşamalı Doğrusal Regresyon analizlerinden yararlanılmıştır. Araştırmada Büyük Beşli Kişilik özellikleri Kısmi Korelasyonda kontrol değişkeni olarak kullanılmıştır. Korelasyon analizlerinde iyi oluş skorları ile kaygılı gelecek tutumunun negatif yönde (r = -.47), olumlu gelecek beklentisinin (r = .60) ve planlı gelecek tutumunun (r = .44) pozitif yönde ilişkili olduğu, kişilik özelliklerinin kontrol edildiği kısmi korelasyon analizi sonuçlarına göre ise iyi oluş oluş skorları ile olumlu gelecek beklentisi, planlı gelecek tutumu ve kaygılı gelecek tutumu arasındaki korelasyon katsayılarının sırasıyla .47, .35 ve -31 olarak bulunmuştur. Aşamalı Regresyon Analizi sonuçlarına göre olumlu gelecek beklentisinin iyi oluş skorlarını yordadığı modelde en yüksek varyansın (R2 = .36) açıklandığı görülmüştür. Planlı ve kaygılı tutumların sırasıyla eklendiği modellerde ilk modele ek olarak açıklanan varyansların (sırasıyla ΔR2= .03 ve ΔR2= .02) düşük düzeylerde olduğu görülmüştür. Araştırma sonuçları geleceğe ilişkin tutum ve beklentilerin kişilik özelliklerinden bağımsız olarak iyi oluş ile ilişkili olduğuna ve eğitim ve psikolojik danışma alanlarında olumlu tutumların geliştirilmesinin diğer tutumlara müdahale edilmesine göre daha önemli olabileceğine işaret etmektedir.
