AbstractThis study aimed to investigate the challenges faced by working students in patronizing library services in Nigeria and to propose tailored solutions to enhance their patronage. A descriptive survey research design was used to collect data from 110 working undergraduate students, which was then analyzed using descriptive statistics. The findings showed that busy job schedules, limited time on campus, and the fact that they mainly come to the campus for lectures are the primary reasons why working students rarely patronize the library. However, most of them expressed the need for library access tailored to their unique needs, which includes remote or distance approach. The preferred methods for accessing library services among working students include selective dissemination of e-books to their emails and having librarians available on a dedicated WhatsApp number. Additionally, they indicated openness to the idea of using chatbots to respond to their library requests. The study concluded that the use of technology such as email, instant messenger, and chatbots can address the challenges hindering library patronage by working students. Thus, the study recommends that library administrators invest in developing and adopting these technologies to meet the demands of working students in Nigeria. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study aimed to explore the technology usage of off-campus undergraduate students for library social media engagement. A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 245 off-campus university students at Adeleke University. Data were collected using a self-administered questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics and chi-square analysis. The findings suggest that off-campus undergraduate students are ready for library social media engagement, with Facebook being the most commonly used platform. However, among the off-campus students, the study found that working students tend to engage less frequently with the library social media than non-working students. The major hindrance to off-campus students' engagement with the library's social media is their busy schedule, followed by a lack of time. Patronage of public libraries in Nigeria has declined over the years and is in urgent need of revitalization. Outreach efforts would revitalize the interest of university students in the patronage of public libraries in Nigeria because they need access to resources, especially when on holidays. The study investigates the outreach programs used to revitalize the patronage of public libraries in Nigeria. A descriptive survey research design was utilized in the study. The population comprised a sample of 3,457 Adeleke University undergraduates. Descriptive statistics were employed to analyze the data. The findings revealed that public libraries in Nigeria are underutilized by Adeleke University undergraduate students. This low patronage may be ascribed to poor outreach efforts, outdated technology, distance, inadequate facilities, and a poor road network. Outreach programs such as developing and producing library mobile applications, providing free internet access, virtual reality availability, hosting health talks, free streaming services, and making kinetic bikes available to charge phones can be effective in revitalizing public library patronage. As a result, the study suggests that outreach efforts be included in public library initiatives to engage younger users. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between news sources and climate change attitudes among students at Adeleke University and its implications on libraries. The study utilized a descriptive survey design with a questionnaire to collect data from 688 respondents. The majority of the participants showed an unconcerned attitude towards climate change. The sources from which students obtained climate change news were NTA, AIT, British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), Cable News Network (CNN), TVC News, and Punch. It was found that sourcing climate change news from specific local and international news outlets such as Fox News, Al Jazeera, Euro News, Sky News, CNBC Africa, Channels, AIT, Vanguard, Nigeria Tribune, Guardian Nigeria, Silverbird Television, TVC News, Arise News, and NTA was strongly associated with an unconcerned attitude towards climate change. The study concludes that libraries should provide more news sources that can raise awareness about climate change in Nigeria to address the prevalent unconcerned attitude towards climate change. The study investigates if physical libraries are popular for research by students in the internet age post COVID-19. The study used a descriptive survey research design. The population consisted of 3457 Adeleke University undergraduates. Descriptive statistic was used to analyze data. The findings suggested that physical libraries are increasingly less popular among students for research purposes, owing mostly to the development of the internet era. Other reasons cited include physical library congestion and excessive surveillance, a preference to read with friends outside of the physical library, and a lack of motivation to visit the physical library. It was also discovered that students have a culture of completing their own research rather than paying professionals to do it for them. The study concluded that physical libraries are less popular for research among students, majorly due to the popularity of the internet. As a result, the study recommends that library management make physical libraries the strongest internet hub on campus, where all students would want to come for research. The study investigated the willingness of students to remotely tune into podcast programmes aired by libraries and the associated challenges. The study employed a descriptive survey research design. The sample included 245 Adeleke University undergraduates. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics. Findings indicated that most patrons rarely use podcasts, with Spotify being the most popular among students. Students indicated that the campus news and information programme, library seminars, and user education would be their top choices for frequent listening. Students may be discouraged from utilizing library podcast programmes due to issues with internet access, a lack of finances to obtain data, and a time constraint. The study concluded that podcasts had potential for distant learners and that students would be ready to tune into podcast programmes aired by libraries, and therefore recommended that libraries in Nigeria begin to employ podcasts in airing library programmes and marketing library services.
