The article discusses a study which investigated the association of transcription factor 7-like 2 (TCF7L2) rs7903146 T allelle with type 2 diabetes (T2D) ad obesity in European populations grouped according to three ranges of body mass index (BMI). The effects of the rs7903146 C allele and HapA on obesity prevalence were then assessed in normal glucose tolerant (NGT) and T2D subjects, respectively. It also investigated whether protein factors could differentially bind the rs7903146 polymorphic region in different cell lines.
