Abstract

The article offers information on the QuantiFERON-TB Gold (QFT-G) assay used to measure the release of interferon-gamma by peripheral CD4-positive T lymphocytes. Topics include the tuberculin skin test (TST) used to diagnose latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI), the role of TB screening in dermatological patients, and the effectiveness of QFT-G. It also mentions the reliability of the QFT-G as a diagnostic test for LTBI.
