On June 28-29, 2007, in Vientiane, Laos, a conference was held to celebrate 45 years of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Laos, and 30 years since the signing of Lao-Vietnamese Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation. Twenty-seven scientific reports were presented, focusing mainly on the “special relationship” between Laos and Vietnam, geographically, historically, politically, and culturally.
