Abstract

In this paper we report and analyze development of noncontact trapping of micron-sized particles using optical traps shaped with three-dimensionally structured coherent beam. Trapping fields are generated by interference of laser beams with controllable parameters, including tilt angle, beam waist, polarization state and a number of superposed beams. Visualization and tracking the position of trapped micro-objects in three-dimensional space is realized using axial lensless digital holographic microscopy with real-time computer processing of interferograms.
