With different transition metal (TM) complexes as structure directing agents or building units, three new multinary chalcognidometalates based on T3 supertetrahedral nanocluster of [Mn2Ga4Sn4S20]8− have been solvothermally synthesized and structurally characterized. In compound Mn2Ga4Sn4S20[Mn2(en)5]2·4H2O (1, en = ethylenediamine), the neighboring [Mn2Ga4Sn4S20]8− cores were bridged by two pairs of [Mn2(en)5]4+ complex cations via Mn–S bonds to form one-dimensional (1D) neutral chains. Compound Mn2Ga4Sn4S20[Mn(dien)2]4·2H2O (2, dien = diethylenetriamine) contained discrete [Mn2Ga4Sn4S20]8− cores separated by [Mn(dien)2]2+ cations. In compound Mn2Ga4Sn4S20[Mn(teta)]4 (3, teta = triethylenetetramine), each [Mn2Ga4Sn4S20]8− core was covalently attached by four [Mn(teta)]2+ complexes via terminal Mn–S bonds to form a neutral isolated cluster. The photocatalytic experiments indicate that compound 1 was able to degrade rhodamine B (RhB) and crystal violet (CV) under visible irradiation. Three new organic–inorganic hybrid manganese thiogermanates and thiostannates, namely, [Mn(en)2]MnGeS4 (1, en = ethylenediamine), [Mn(dien)2]MnSnS4 (2, dien = diethylenetriamine) and [Mn(1,2-dap)]2Sn2S6 (3, 1,2-dap = 1,2-diaminopropane), have been solvothermally synthesized and structurally characterized. Compound 1 has a three-dimensional (3D) neutral framework composed of one-dimensional (1D) [MnGeS4]2− chains and unsaturated [Mn(en)2]2+ cations interconnected via Mn–S bonds, whereas compounds 2–3 feature 1D [MnSnS4]2− anionic chains and 1D neutral [Mn(1,2-dap)]2Sn2S6 chains, respectively. Investigation into the magnetic properties of the title compounds reveals antiferromagnetic and ferromagnetic coupling interactions between the Mn(ii) ions for compounds 1 and 3, respectively. Four new quaternary chalcogenides, Ba4AgGaS6 ( 1), Ba4AgGaSe6 ( 2), Ba4CuInS6 ( 3), and Ba4AgInS6 ( 4), were synthesized by solid-state reactions and their structures were characterized through single-crystal X-ray diffraction. In spite of their similar chemical compositions, the flexible arrangement between the transition metals and the triel atoms leads to subtle differences in their polyanion structures. All structures feature similar [MTrQ6]8− 1D polyanionic chains (M=Cu, Ag; Tr=Ga, In; Q=S, Se), which are constructed from corner-sharing MQ4 or TrQ4 tetrahedra. However, the transition metals and triels are mixed in 1, 2, and 3, but they occupy independent crystallographic sites in 4. As a result, compounds 1- 3 belong to the known Ba2CoS3 ( Pnma No. 62) or Ba2MnS3 ( Pnma No. 62) class, whereas 4 crystallizes in its own structural type within the monoclinic P21/ c (No. 14) space group. The high-temperature deformation and damage behavior of ultrafine-grained (UFG) Cu produced by equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) were investigated and compared at two strain rates of 10-2 s-1 and 10-3 s-1. It is found that the strain rate has an obvious effect on the deformation and damage behavior of UFG Cu, especially at the testing temperatures near and above recrystallization. In general, the lower the strain rate, more universally grain coarsening takes place, the lower the yield stress and steady flow stress are, and more aggravated the degree of deformation damage becomes. The title three compounds have been synthesized by solid state reactions at high temperatures, with excess indium as flux, and structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies. Eu3Co2In15 forms a new structure type and crystallizes in the tetragonal space group P4/mbm (No. 127), whereas KM2In9 (M = Co, Ni) in the BaFe2Al9 type crystallizes in the hexagonal space group P6/mmm (No. 191). Their structures all feature a three- dimensional anionic framework based on 1 D [MIn6] single cluster chains composed of face-sharing [MIn9] clusters. in Eu3Co2In15, two adjacent [CoIn6] single cluster chains form a [Co2In11] double cluster chain via corner-sharing In atoms as well as In-In bonds; the latter chains are further interconnected by additional indium atoms via In-In bonds into a complicated 3D framework, forming two types of tunnels along the c-axis, which are filled by the europium atoms. In KM2In9, the [MIn6] single cluster chains are directly interconnected via corner sharing and exo In-In bonds into a 3D framework with the K+ ions encapsulated in the 1 D tunnels along the c-axis.
