In the present paper we studied the manner in which county and regional authorities from Northern Transylvania view churches and monasteries located in this area as tourist landmarks. In order to do that, we analyzed the county and regional policies and strategies and looked for projects addressing cultural heritage in the area that were financed by European programmes. While highlighting the diverse tourism potential of the religious buildings, the counties' development strategies also recommended the preservation and rehabilitation of the historical monuments and promoting them in an integrated manner, as parts of cultural and/or religious routes. These objectives have been realized mostly with the help of the European funds - more than 40 churches were renovated and more than 80 have been promoted using REGIO and INTERREG funds, and wooden churches in Maramureș and Sălaj counties and medieval churches in Satu Mare County were included in thematic routes. Moreover, the creation and promotion of more cultural tourism routes is one of the main objectives of the Romania's National Recovery and Resilience Plan, adding more value to the region's tourism potential. The regional literature that gives cultural identity and heritage differentiation to intermediate cities in Colombia is recognized and resignified by literary tourism. The objective of the reflection article is to characterize the opportunities and limitations of literary tourism as an alternative tourism product through provincial routes. The qualitative methodology was mediated by content analysis, based on a selection of 135 literary works that led to the selection of the works of three representative authors for the design of literary routes. The conclusion reiterates the opportunities of experiential literature for provincial cultural tourism by intertwining the most representative places of the territorial heritage with tours in the vital spaces of the authors or their characters. In modern conditions, the competitiveness of many tourist centers is ensured through the development of forms of network interaction between entities involved in the process of tourist services within a certain geographical area. One of these forms of networking is a tourist cluster, which is based on such concepts as "integration", "cooperation", "competition". Each system in the field of tourism needs to be promoted and popularized among tourists, including the cluster. In this regard, the main purpose of this work is to consider the issues of branding tourist clusters on the example of the Almaty Mountain cluster in the Republic of Kazakhstan. As part of the study on specifics of cluster systems branding, the authors relied on scientific publications presented in various periodicals. To identify the main trends in the development of tourism and clusters in Kazakhstan, the data presented on the official websites of state bodies and statistical services were employed. Based on the presented analysis, the authors considered the main characteristics of the Almaty Mountain cluster development, as well as the features of branding this territory at the national and local levels. The main stages of territory branding are presented, taking into account the main characteristics of the cluster system. In general, within the framework of the work, the authors put forward the main directions for the formation and promotion of cluster systems brand in modern conditions. At the same time, it is noted that the branding process should ensure the sustainable development of integration and cooperation ties between the participants of the tourism cluster.

Agroecological tourism emerges as a promising strategy for local development, promoting job creation and the construction of more resilient and sustainable communities. In this context, generating green job opportunities through the Finca El Coporo agroecological tourist route, in the rural settlement La Legua, San Silvestre Parish, Barinas Municipality, Venezuela, is presented as an opportunity to cause a positive impact in the region. To achieve this, an exhaustive diagnosis of the territory has been carried out, identifying its tourist potential and designing an attractive tourist product. The methodology used was based on participatory action research, actively involving the community in the route design process. In conclusion, the creation of green jobs through the agroecological tourism route will not only contribute to the economic development of the local community, but will also promote environmental conservation, the promotion of sustainable practices and the strengthening of the cultural identity of the region. It is important that policies and training programs are established to guarantee that the jobs created are of quality, inclusive and respectful of the environment. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

16. Theoretical approach to Api-tourism routes as a paradigm of sustainable and regenerative rural development.

- Abstract
Routes in general, including agritourism routes focused on beekeeping, activate the socio-economic and sustainable development of the territories. A route is a unit of analysis that acts as a cluster, dynamizing several tourist centers, services, resources, and attractions while reducing environmental impacts. These synergies are much needed in the poorest and most depopulated rural areas. However, these areas, generally of high ecological and landscape value require a type of tourist activity with controlled impacts that favors the regeneration of the social and natural environment. To delve into all this, a pioneering theoretical analysis of Api-tourism and its routes was carried out. These premises and underlying models were contrasted deductively through the exploitation of secondary sources and empirically during fieldwork on "honey routes", as case studies. It is concluded that Api-tourism routes are an emerging model of tourism activity and a significant representation of the new model of regenerative tourism. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The purpose of the study is to research the system of tourist routes of the Wilno Voivodeship in the 1920s and 1930s. To convey the intended study, historical-type methodology was applied. In the 1920s and 1930s, a large number of tourist routes were developed in the Wilno Voivode- ship, both for hiking and for trips favouring road, rail or water transport. These routes were quite diverse in subject matter and could satisfy a variety of tourist requests in organizing recreation: visiting historical and cultural heritage sites, relaxing on the shores of numerous water reservoirs, as well as rafting on large and small rivers of the region or walks and trips along them by river transport. Finally, based on the analysis of the available primary sources issued in the covered period, it could be stated that the 1920s and 1930s may be treated as a turning point in the de- velopment of tourism in the Wilno Voivodeship, at least in terms of the number and variety of tourist routes then functioning in the region. The presented study may constitute useful material for any further research devoted to the history of tourism in Poland, Lithuania and Belarus.

TOURISM ,TOURISTS ,ECONOMIC development ,URBANIZATION - Abstract
The approach to tourism is focused on the internal activities of each region, specifically the province of Tungurahua generates internal visits interested in urban development; however, its tourism activity is poorly recognized in relation to innovation and localization, because it works under a traditional tourism management model, which focuses on the potential of each of its tourism resources. In this way, the lack of knowledge of new information technology techniques for global access has limited not only the access of visitors, but also the opportunities to improve the quality of life, limiting the development of innovation projects that allow access, knowledge, development and potentiation of tourist routes. The objective of this work is to analyze the level of preferences of tourist routes including the dimensions of behavior in tourism (cultural, gastronomic, nature, adventure, recreational) and the economic link in the modern market, as well as to review the scientific and bibliographic production that currently exists in relation to tourism in Ecuador. Thus, through the methodological description in the research it was determined that there is a profile of relevance to the classic places to visit, in which there is already a profile of image positioning and therefore information about new internal tourism trends is not promoted, in this way it is evident in the final result that tourism promoted from a strategic line of resources is not well directed. This way, it does not generate a guiding framework for the visitor through new tourist attractions that allow access to new sources of employment and therefore limits the socioeconomic development of the region, benefits that are widely explained by means of research carried out and that have been the object of analysis in the development of the present research. The sample consisted of 744 tourist visitors in the province of Tungurahua. The results show that there is a significant relationship between tourist routes and the link between economic and cultural development in the modern market, in the dimensions of tourist route preferences and travel costs, among others. The study variables were measured with a questionnaire. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Travel route layout Jl. Trimulyo -- Jl. Pemuda has the function of industrial and educational areas, while Jl. Woltermonginsidi -- Jl. Pandanaran is a commercial, office and tourist area, one of which is Lawang Sewu. The increasingly diverse and crowded modes of transportation are not matched by adequate road capacity, changes in land use patterns have led to an increase in diverse urbanization flows, causing many activities that trigger side barriers on these roads. The existence of a performance link and side obstacles that occur indicate the emergence of traffic jams. The purpose of this study is to determine the factors that affect the travel time of the travel route to Lawang Sewu tourist attractions. The method in this research is Deductive Quantitative Rationalistic with descriptive statistical analysis tools, this study explains that the accumulation of a flow of vehicles going to a place using the same choice of path causes traffic congestion and causes congestion. Factors that influence the selection of the shortest route of travel are the accumulation of traffic flow and side barriers such as pedestrians, roadside parking, street vendors, and road renovation or construction to the Lawang Sewu tourist attraction. In the context of agricultural post-productivity, rural spaces acquire new functions or reinforce the existing ones. Thus, the production of quality food, as a part of agroindustry, and tourism appear as common activities in rural development strategies. Special attention is drawn to gastronomic tourism and the creation of routes as a creative expression of the integration and structuring of the territories. The Iberian ham is a unique product, known worldwide, produced exclusively in the SW quadrant of the Iberian Peninsula. It is linked to a unique agro-system of the anthropised Mediterranean forest, also known as dehesa4, and comparably limited Iberian pig livestock, which has given rise to traditional culture and industry constituted in Local Productive System in many municipalities, supported by Protected Designation of Origin. The central objective of the research is to analyse existing tourist attraction related to the Iberian ham, its potential and the routes and products that have arisen around it. Having placed the territorial recognition as the starting point, the analysis of the resources and locations of the activities related to the Iberian ham was carried out based on scientific literature and the use of different databases. Secondly, the analysis of the potential tourism activities in the Sierra de Huelva region was implemented based on primary sources, namely surveys and interviews with intervening actors. The following results are obtained: a) the tourist potential of the Iberian pig world; b) complementarity with other tourist activities; c) difficulties in structuring existing attractions; d) multiplication of disconnected and sometimes coincident tourism initiatives; e) scarce participation of private actors in the initiatives launched.

This paper emphasizes the role of cartographic modelling of tourist routes in the Carpathians in the context of the development of tourist mapping. It describes the distinguished features of Transcarpathian and Eastern Carpathian tourist routes as the objects of mapping. These routes are extremely popular among tourists due to their remarkable recreational and touristic value. Tourist map series fulfil the needs of tourists and also form a relevant and promising practical area of modern geographical mapping. We systematise the principles and describe the methodological basis of cartographic modelling of tourist routes in the Carpathians. We particularly detail the peculiarities of the decoration of tourist maps. Our research contributes to the development of the integral system of spatial, visual, complementary, and comparative information about the region's location, conditions, and features of natural, historical, cultural and socio-economic tourist resources. Optimal travel route selection in real time basis minimizes the transportation cost for the tourists and guarantees the ease of travel as well. Accordingly, this paper deals with the problem of selecting the appropriate route selection to visit the identified tourists' spots in Tripura, India using the vehicle routing problem with time windows. The different tourist spots in the study area are identified from the Tourism Department of the Government of Tripura. This study considers only two cities as the gateway to reach to Tripura. After which, based on Bing map portal, geographic information for all the selected tourist spots is mapped; and one to one distance matrix is prepared considering the identified tourist spots and the two-gateway point of Tripura. The result so derived is compared and contrasted with the traditional route followed by the travel operators of Tripura; and found significant differences in terms of cost of transportation and time spent to visit the different tourist spots in Tripura. Finally, this paper concluded that selection of optimal route for transport network of tourism spots in Tripura, India using multi-trip vehicle routing problem can ensure the ease of travel and satisfaction for the tourists visiting in Tripura, India. In this work, we studied the tourist and recreational resources - relict, unique landscapes of the specially protected natural area of the Sharyn. The work is the result of many years of field research on landscapes and summer field practice in 2019 in the Sharyn River basin, the study and systematization of published scientific materials. 4 key sections were laid along 2 routes. On this basis, foci of landscape diversity were identified: relic tracts of Sarytugai with Sogdian ash (Fraxinus sogdiana Bunge), tracts Kurtogay, Moyyntugay and Temirlik with relict morphological sculptures. A digital thematic map was created on ArtGIS 10.1. The “passport” of the existing tourist routes and the “passport” of the recreational load of the protected areas Sharyn have been completed. To remove the anthropogenic load on the Sharyn Canyon, it was proposed to develop two more routes: "Small Canyon" and "Temirlik tract." The scientific base of the tourist and recreational potential has been created and the feasibility of further development of international tourism has been substantiated.

NATIONAL parks & reserves , *TOURISM marketing , *GEOGRAPHIC information systems , *REMOTE sensing , *GEOSPATIAL data - Abstract
Today, the number of visitors to national parks grows exponentially every year, hence the anthropogenic load in the mentioned sites increases impacting flora and fauna, as well as other natural resources. To ensure tourism development in all regions, not only popular tourist destinations, creation of maps to ensure development of tourism industry and regulation of tourism activities are important tools, which indicate main tourism resources. User-oriented maps are designed to provide the geospatial information they need primarily for their interests to make geospatial decisions. Well-designed tourist maps may increase the attractiveness of a region and help meeting tourists' needs. This article presents the process of creating schematic map of routes and infrastructure along Ayusai Gorge for the sustainable development of tourist and recreational activities on the territory of Ile-Alatau National Park using GIS technology. Graphic and attributive data, namely digital raster and vector images, semantic information, the principle of layer-by-layer classification and coding of tourist destinations were used. The raster-vector transformation for data digitization was used within the research and thematic map layers were created on the basis of remote sensing (RS) data, point, linear and polygonal localization objects were digitized. The schematic maps of the routes of the Japanese trail, the Ayusai waterfall trail, the Myn Koz trail and the infrastructure map of Ayusai Gorge were created based on RS data. For the first time, when mapping this territory, satellite images were used and a database of tourist objects was created. The results of this work can be useful in the planning and travelling for consumers, as well as for the creation of a geoinformation database of the national park. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Tourism is one of the factors of local economic development and cross-border cooperation on EU borders, reducing the risk of economic recession in those areas. The purpose of the article is to reveal trends in the development of cross-border tourism on the Polish-Belarusian border and to verify the following research issues: 1) whether the economic sanctions introduced by EU countries on Russia after 2014 reduced cross-border traffic on the Polish-Belarusian section of the EU border; 2) to what extent the tourist potential of the Polish-Belarusian region corresponds to the demand in the modern European market; 3) how the new visa-free travel mechanisms activate tourist markets; 4) to what extent tourism stimulates the development of new forms of urban growth in the cultural landscapes of the cross-border region. The process of shaping tourism clusters as a form of the spatial organisation of tourism development in cross-border regions was analysed using analytical and synthetic methods. The research area covers the eastern border of Poland on the section of its border with Belarus. The primary research and empirical materials were obtained from the Central Statistical Office of Poland and the Statistical Committee of Belarus on tourism on the eastern border of Poland in the years 2015–2018. An investigation of the subject literature and source documents, as well as field observations and statistical analyses, were carried out. Particular attention was paid to the creation of a visa-free regime region in the special tourist zones of “Brest” and “Grodno” in the border regions of Belarus.

The literature review shows that the touristization of the Portuguese territory (meaning the geographical expansion of tourist places) in the 1930s and 1940s resulted mainly from the policy of expanding the railway network and from the improvements introduced in the road network. What this paper seeks to demonstrate is that the tourist press, through a persistent "propaganda" of cities and towns, mountains and villages, beaches and spas in Portugal, disseminated through an exaggerated rhetoric of exaltation of their touristic values, was a supporting vehicle for this geographical expansion of places. Starting with a review of the specialized magazines that emerged during this period of time, the paper then focuses on the advertising strategies used by the Turismo magazine (1936-1953) to stimulate the progressive expansion of these places, aiming to present them as desirable destinations and thus contributing to the aforementioned touristization of the territory. SEQUENTIAL pattern mining , *TOURISTS - Abstract
Grouping individual tourists who have the same or similar tourist routes over the same time period makes it more convenient for the tourists at a low cost by providing transportation means such as regular or occasional tour buses, driver, and tourism guides. In this paper, we propose a mathematical formulation for the tour routes clustering problem and two phases for a sequential pattern algorithm for clustering similar or identical routes according to the tourist routes of individual tourists, with illustrative examples. The first phase is to construct a site by site frequency matrix and prune infrequent tour route patterns from the matrix. The second phase is to perform clustering of the tour routes to determine the tour route using a sequential pattern mining algorithm. We compare and evaluate the performance of our algorithms, i.e., in terms of execution time and memory used. The proposed algorithm is efficient in both runtime and memory usage for the increasing number of transactions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Cycle tourism is considered as an emerging niche market and has caught the attention of several key stakeholders in the decision-making process regarding territorial and tourism development strategies. Therefore, the use of the bicycle has been included in various strategies to promote cycling practices in both local communities and visitors, enabling to combine sustainable mobility with tourism activities that promote well-being and can contribute to innovation in various tourism destinations. It is vital, though, that the information on the existence of cycling routes is conveyed to visitors of these destinations. For this, it is necessary not only to map the routes, but also to identify points of interest with associated tourist information. Geographical Information Systems (GIS) are an excellent tool, not only in the tourism planning process, but also in displaying the required information in a visually appealing way to visitors. The orographic characteristics of the Region of Aveiro, along with the interest of several municipalities in promoting tourism and the use of the bicycle, allowed the development of a research project that resulted in the definition of a set of intermunicipal bike touring routes. To this end, firstly the points of tourist interest to be included in the routes were identified to, in a second stage, define the ideal cycling routes, using GIS. Based on the literature review, several criteria were used to define the ideal routes, namely length, slope, speed limit, track capacity, landscape and distance to industrial areas. In this process, the Network Analyst extension of the ArcGIS software was used. The result is ten short, six medium and four long haul routes, which allow the various market segments to visit the selected points of interest and to know the Region of Aveiro. Geotourism arises as a tourist activity in the last two decades. Publicity instruments common to the global scale touristic activities are appropriated by the tourism industry, among then tourist route are a highlight. Thus, the present article aims to develop a dialoge between geotourism and the touristc routes creation process. We largely discuss the theory and a case study, characterized by the construction of three geotouristic routes for the Ubajara National Park, in Ceará, Brazil. We note the geotouristic routes have a capacity to diffuse concepts and practices concerning geoconservation, as well as to emphasize the geoheritage importance in the context of environmental preservation. The tourist routes proposed for the Ubajara National Park show its touristic aptitude, since all its attractions are related to the interaction between geoheritage, biodiversity and local culture. Then, the geotouristic routes consolidation rises as an additional possibility touristic offer diversification. Finally, we stress that the adopted methodology can be replicated in different areas, urban or rural, that present touristic potential. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
