Türkiye; doğal güzellikleri, tarihi geçmişi ve kültürel mirasının yanı sıra hem modern tesisleri hem de kaliteli hizmet sunumu ile dünya çapındaki turistik destinasyonlar arasında yer almaktadır. Sahip olduğu turizm kaynakları ve ağırladığı turist yoğunluğu ile İstanbul bu destinasyonlar içerisinde önemli bir konumdadır. İstanbul’un tanıtılmasında turist rehberlerinin önemli rolü bulunmaktadır. Çünkü turist rehberleri, turistlere seyahatleri süresince eşlik eden, turistlerin gezdikleri bölgeyi daha yakından tanımalarına yardımcı olan ve turist-yerel halk etkileşimine önemli derecede katkılar sağlayan turizm endüstrisinin önemli aktörlerindendir. Yapılan bu araştırmada, yabancı turistlerin Türkiye, İstanbul, Turizm ve Turist Rehberi hakkındaki algılarının metaforlar yoluyla belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaçla ilgili alan yazın incelemesi yapılmış bu doğrultuda yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu hazırlanmıştır. Hazırlanan görüşme formu aracılığıyla İstanbul’u turist rehberi eşliğinde ziyaret eden Rus, Alman ve İranlı turistler ile yüz yüze görüşülerek bilgiler toplanmıştır. Araştırmaya katılan turistler, söz konusu kavramlara yönelik çeşitli metaforlar geliştirmiştir. Bu metaforlar, ortak özellikleri irdelenerek ve önceki çalışmalar incelenerek kategorilere ayrılmış; turistlerin geliştirdikleri metaforlar ve oluşturulan kategoriler arasında milliyetlere göre farklılık bulunup bulunmadığı belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda Alman ve Rus turistlerin Türkiye kavramına yönelik olarak daha çok toplumla ilgili metaforlar geliştirdiği ve İranlı turistlerin ise sıklıkla çevreyle ilgili metaforlar geliştirdiği tespit edilmiştir. İstanbul kavramına yönelik olarak Alman turistlerin daha çok duyguyla ilgili metaforlar geliştirdiği, Rus ve İranlı turistlerin ise tarih ve kültürle ilgili metaforlar geliştirdiği belirlenmiştir. Turizm kavramına yönelik olarak Alman ve Rus turistler daha çok klasik algılarla ilgili metaforlar geliştirilirken, İranlı turistlerin ise sıklıkla ekonomiyle ilgili metaforlar geliştirdiği belirlenmiştir. Turist Rehberi kavramına yönelik olarak üç turist grubu da niteliklerle ilgili metaforlar geliştirmiştir., Turkey is among the world’s tourist destinations with its modern facilities and high quality service in addition to its natural beauties, historical past and cultural heritage. Istanbul has an important position among these destinations with its tourism resources and the tourist density it hosts. Tourist guides play an important role in the promotion of Istanbul. Because tourist guides are important actors in tourism industry, which accompanies tourists during their travels, helps tourists to get know the region they visit and makes a significant contribution to the interaction between tourists and local people. It is aimed with this study to determine foreign tourists’ perceptions about Turkey, Istanbul, tourism and tourist guide through metaphors. For this purpose, a literature review was conducted and a semi-structures interview form was prepared. Information was collected through the prepared interview form by face-to-face interviews with Russian, German and Iranian tourists visiting Istanbul with a tour guide. The tourists, participated in this research, developed various metaphors for the forenamed concepts. These metaphors were divided into categories by examining their common features and previous studies. Also it has been tried to determine whether there are differences between metaphors and categories developed by tourists according to their nationalities. As a result of this study iı has been identified that Russian and German tourists developed metaphors related to society about Turkey. Iranian tourists often develop metaphors related to environment about Turkey. For the concept of Istanbul, German tourists developed metaphors related to emotions, Russian and Iranian tourists developed metaphors related to history and culture. For the concept of tourism, German and Russian tourists mostly develop metaphors related to classical perceptions, while Iranian tourists frequently develop metaphors about economy. All three groups of tourists developed metaphors about qualifications for the concept of tourist guide.

Problem Durumu: Turist rehberi, turistin tatil amacıyla gittiği ülkede genellikle ilk karşılaştığı kişi olmakta ve onlara tatilleri süresince eşlik etmektedir. Bu nedenle turist rehberinin yeterli bilgi birikimine ve donanıma sahip olmak dışında bu bilgiyi aktarabilecek gerekli iletişim donanımına da sahip olması önem arz etmektedir. Ancak turist rehberinin eğitim süreci incelendiğinde, hem örgün hem de yaygın eğitim kapsamında verilen turist rehberliği eğitimi içerisinde iletişim alanına gereken önemin verilmediği gözlenmiştir. Bu durum rehberlerin perfor- mansını olumsuz yönde etkileyebilmektedir. Araştırmanın Amacı: Türkiye’ye gelen turistlerin, rehberin iletişim yeterliliklerine verdikleri öneme ve rehberin iletişim performansına yönelik görüşlerinin belirlenmesi ve bu görüşlere etki eden faktörlerin CHAID analizi ile incelenmesidir. Yöntem: Turist rehberliği ve iletişim ile ilgili yazın taraması yapıldıktan sonra Antalya’ya tatil için gelen turistlerin rehberin iletişim yeterliliklerine verdiklere öneme ve rehberin iletişim performansına ilişkin görüşlerini belirlemeye yönelik olarak hazırlanan anket aracılığıyla veriler toplanmıştır. Elde edilen veriler SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences, Version 11,5) programı ile analiz edilmiştir. Bulgular: Araştırma sonucunda turistlerin rehberin iletişim yeterliliklerine verdikleri öneme ve rehberin iletişim performansına yönelik görüşlerine etki eden en önemli faktörün ülke değişkeni olduğu belirlenmiştir. Sonuçlar: İngilizlerin rehberin iletişim yeterliliklerine verdikleri önem Alman ve Ruslara göre daha fazladır. Benzer şekilde İngilizlerin rehberin iletişim performansına yönelik görüşleri Alman ve Ruslara göre daha olumludur., Statement of the Problem: Tourist guide is the person that someone encounters first in the country that he or she had gone for holiday and he accompanies them during their holidays. For this reason, it is important that apart from the sufficient knowledge and qualification the tourist guide has, he or she should has the necessary communication equipment for information transfer. But when the training process of the tourist guide is examined, it is observed that not too much importance was given to the communication area in the context of tourist guide training both in common and formal training. This situation may affect the performance of the tourist guides negatively. Purpose of the study: Determination of the views of the tourists that came to Turkey on the importance given by the tourists to the communication competencies of tourist guides and to communication performance of the tourist guides and examination of the factors that affects these views by CHAID analysis. Method: The data were collected by the questionnaire that is prepared for having data about the views that the tourists that came to Antalya has about importance given by the tourists to the communication competencies of tourist guides and to communication performance of the tourist guides. The data that acquired were analyzed with SPSS programme. Findings: At the end of the research it is determined that the most important factor for the importance given by the tourists to the communication competencies of tourist guides and to communication performance of the tourist guides is country variable. Results: Importance that the English Tourist guides gave to the communication competence is much more than Germans and Russians. Similarly the view of English tourists on communication performance is much more positive than the Russians and the Germans.

Balıkesir Üniversitesi, Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsü, Turizm İşletmeciliği ve Otelcilik Ana Bilim Dalı, Turizm, dünyada boş zamanın artması ve ekonomik refah düzeyinin yükselmesi ile beraber her geçen gün büyüyen bir sektör halini almaktadır. Diğer yandan turizm farklı kültürlerin bir araya gelip iletişim ve etkileşim içerisine girdiği en önemli sektörlerden biridir. Çünkü turizm, turistlere ziyaret ettikleri ülkenin dilini, tarihini, kültürünü ve doğasını daha yakından tanıma fırsatı tanırken, yerel halkın da turistlerin dilini ve kültürünü daha yakından tanıma olanağını arttırmaktadır. Bu noktada en önemli görevlerden biri ülkelerinin birer temsilcisi konumunda olan turist rehberlerine düşmektedir. Bu nedenle turist rehberinin yeterli bilgi ve donanıma sahip olmak dışında bu bilgiyi aktarabilecek gerekli iletişim donanımına da sahip olması gerekmektedir. Bu çalışmada; turistlerin, rehberin iletişim yeterliliklerine verdikleri önem, rehberin iletişim performansına yönelik görüşleri ile turistlerin seyahatlerine ve turist rehberlerine yönelik görüşlerinin faklı milliyetlere sahip turistler açısından nasıl algılandığı ve kültürlere göre ne şekilde farklılaştığı ortaya konulmuştur. Bu amaçla yapılan araştırma sonucunda, turistlerin görüşlerini etkileyen en önemli faktörün milliyet bir başka deyişle kültür olduğu ortaya çıkmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda ortaya çıkan diğer önemli bir bulgu ise İngiliz turistlerin Alman ve Rus turistlere göre rehberin iletişim yeterliliklerine daha fazla önem verdiği ve rehberin iletişim performansını daha yeterli gördüğüdür. Çalışma beş temel bölümden oluşmaktadır. Birinci bölümünde, araştırma problemi, araştırmanın amacı, önemi, varsayımlar, sınırlılıklar ve tanımlar belirtilmiştir.İkinci bölüm altı alt başlıktan oluşturulmuştur. Birinci alt başlıkta, turist rehberliği ve nitelikleri incelenmiştir. Bunun yanı sıra kültür ile ilgili temel kavramlar ve kültürel farklılıklara ilişkin teorilere yer verilmiştir. İletişim ve nitelikleri ile ilgili kavram ve özelliklere bu bölümde yer verilmiştir. Bu bölümde ayrıca kültürlerarası iletişim ve turist rehberlerinin kültürlerarası iletişimdeki rolü incelenmiştir. Son bölümde ise ilgili araştırmalara yer verilmiştir.Çalışmanın üçüncü bölümünde alan araştırmasının detayları hakkında bilgi verilmiştir. Araştırmanın modeli, evren ve örneklem, veri toplama aracı ve tekniği ile araştırma verilerinin analizine ilişkin değerlendirmelerde bulunulmuştur.Çalışmanın dördüncü bölümünde, alan araştırması sonucu elde edilen veriler değişik istatistik analiz yöntemleri ile test edilmiş, bulgular ve yorumları yapılmıştır. Son olarak beşinci bölümde ise araştırma bulgularından hareketle sonuçlar değerlendirilmiş ve öneriler geliştirilmeye çalışılmıştır., Tourism is a developing sector day by day together with increasing leisure times around the world and raising the level of economic prosperity. On the other hand, tourism is one of the important sectors in which different cultures come together to communicate and to influence with each other. Because tourism gives opportunity to the tourists to be closely acquainted with the language, the history, the culture and the nature of the countries they visit, and it also enhances the local community's acknowledgement of tourists' language and culture. At this point one of the most important roles is tourist guides' duty to act as a representative of their country. Therefore, tourist guides must have not only the knowledge and skills in order to introduce their countries to the tourists efficiently, but also they must have the communication skills to transmit this knowledge. In this study, an investigation was made in order to determine the differences of the tourists' perceptions about the importance of tourist guides' communication competence and performance, and also the perceptions of tourists about their travel and tourist guide. As a result of this study, "nationality" in other words "culture" came out as the most important factor which influences tourist opinion. Another important finding as a result of this study is that English tourists give more importance to tourist guides' communication sufficiency than German and Russian tourists and they find tourist guides' communication performance more sufficient. The study consists of five parts. The first part includes the survey problem, the aim of the survey, its importance, hypothesis, limitations and definitions. The second part is formed of six sub-headings. Tourist guiding and its qualifications were examined in the first chapter. Furthermore, basic concepts of culture and theories concerning cultural differences were given. Concepts and features of communication and qualifications were included in this part. In this part, intercultural communications and the role of tourist guides in intercultural communications were also examined. Previous studies were evaluated in the last part.In the third part of the study, information on details of field research was given. The research model, sample and universe, data collection tool and technique, and assessments related to the analysis of the research data were made. In the fourth part of the study, data obtained by field survey were tested through various statistical analysis methods; findings and interpretations were made. In the last part of the study, considering the findings, the results were evaluated and recommendations were attempted to be developed.

Araştırmanın sonucunda; iş tatmini ve işe bağlılık arasında pozitif yönlü anlamlı bir ilişki olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Çalışma beş bölümden oluşmaktadır. Birinci bölüm, araştırmanın amacı, önemi, varsayımları ve sınırlılıklarını kapsamaktadır. İkinci bölümde çalışmanın kavramsal çerçevesi üzerinde durulmuştur. Üçüncü bölümü araştırmanın yöntemi oluşturmaktadır. Bu bölümde, veri toplama araç ve teknikleri, evren ve örneklem, verilerin analizi başlıkları altında araştırmanın yöntemi açıklanmıştır. Dördüncü bölümünde, araştırmanın bulgularına ve yorumlara yer verilmiştir. Son bölümde ise, araştırmanın sonuçlarına yer verilerek, öneriler geliştirilmiştir., The subject of this research is the relationship between job satisfaction and work commitment. The main purpose of the research conducted on tourist guides is to examine whether there is a relationship between job satisfaction and commitment. The data of the research were collected through a questionnaire from 133 tourist guides who are active under the Tourist Guides Union. As a result of the research; A positive relationship was determined between job satisfaction and commitment. The study consists of five chapters. The first part covers the purpose, importance, assumptions and limitations of the research. In the second part, the conceptual framework of the study is emphasized. The third part is the method of the research. In this section, data collection tools and techniques, universe and sampling, data analysis are explained. In the fourth part, the findings and comments of the research are included. In the last section, suggestions were developed by including the results of the research.

Balıkesir Üniversitesi, Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsü, Turizm İşletmeciliği ve Otelcilik Ana Bilim Dalı, Turist rehberleri, turistlere daha önce gelmedikleri ülke ve bölge hakkında bilgi veren, ülkesini temsil eden bireylerdir. Turist rehberleri, bölge veya yerel halkın kültürünü en doğru şekilde yansıtan önemli kişilerdir. Kültür elçisi pozisyonundaki bu bireylerin meslekteki tutum ve davranışları çok önemlidir. Bu kutsal mesleğin yerine getirilmesi için rehberlerin donanımlı ve sektör açısından bilgili olması gerekmektedir. Mesleğin gerektirdiği bilgi ve donanım mesleğe atılmadan önce eğitim sürecinde edinilmelidir. Bundan dolayı sektörde yer alacak rehber adaylarının rehberlik mesleğine yönelik tutumlarının önceden belirlenmesi, turist rehberi adaylarının gelecekte bu mesleği yapıp yapmayacaklarına karar vermeleri açısından önemlidir. Bu bağlamda sektörde bu mesleği icra etmeye hazırlanan turist rehberi adaylarının rehberlik mesleğine yönelik tutumlarının önceden belirlenmesi, adayların rehberlik sektöründe yer alıp almayacaklarına karar vererek kariyer planlamalarını daha gerçekçi yapmalarını sağlamak açısından önemlidir. Bu doğrultuda araştırmanın amacı, rehberlik mesleği ile ilgili tutumlarıyla mezuniyet sonrası çalışma isteği arasındaki ilişkinin belirlenmesidir. Bu amaçla Balıkesir Üniversitesi Turizm Fakültesi'nde turist rehberliği bölümünde lisans düzeyinde eğitim almakta olan 300 turist rehberi adayının görüşleri oluşturulan anket formu aracılığı ile toplanmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda adayların mesleki tutumlarının cinsiyet ve mezun oldukları okula göre değişiklik göstermediği belirlenmiştir. Adayların bölümü isteyerek seçme durumları arttıkça mesleki tutumlarının da geliştiği belirlenmiştir. Adayların mezun olduktan sonra rehberlik mesleğini yapıp yapmama konusunda kararsız oldukları tespit edilmiştir. Araştırma beş bölümden oluşmaktadır. İlk bölümde, araştırmanın problemi, amacı, önemi, varsayımları ve sınırlılıkları incelenmiştir. Beşinci bölümde, araştırmanın sonuçları incelenerek, ortaya çıkan problem hakkında öneriler oluşturulmuştur., Tourist guides are individuals who represent the country and give information about the country and region they have not been to before. Tourist guides are important people who most accurately reflect the culture of the region or local people. The attitudes and behaviors of these individuals in the position of cultural ambassadors are very important. In order to fulfill this sacred profession, the guides must be equipped and knowledgeable for the industry. The knowledge and equipment required by the profession must be acquired in the training process before they are placed in the profession. Therefore, it is important to determine the attitudes of the guide candidates who will take place in the sector towards the guidance profession in advance, in order to decide whether the tourist guide candidates will do this profession in the future. In this context, it is important to determine the attitudes of the tourist guide candidates who are prepared to perform this profession in the sector, in order to make their career plans more realistic by deciding whether the candidates will take place in the guidance sector. Accordingly, the aim of the research is to determine the relationship between the attitudes about the guidance profession and the desire to work after graduation. For this purpose, the opinions of 300 tourist guide candidates who are studying at the undergraduate level in the tourist guidance department at Balıkesir University Faculty of Tourism were collected through a questionnaire created.. As a result of the research, it was determined that the professional attitudes of the candidates did not according to the gender and the school they graduated from. It was determined that as the candidates voluntarily choosing the department increased, their professional attitudes also improved. It has been determined that candidates are unsure whether or not to perform the guidance profession after graduation. The research consists of five chapters. In the first part, the problem, purpose, importance, assumptions and limitations of the research are examined. In the second part, the conceptual framework of the study is written, in the third section, the research method and process of the study is included. In the fourth section, findings and comments are included. In the fifth section, the results of the research are examined and suggestions are made about the problem that arises.
